Yes Li Qin and Bai Lu are easier to tell apart. That's why I said all 3 of them could be sisters, they just have a very similar though not necessarily identical look.

Well some people just look very similar - Mike Damon and Mark Wahlberg, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes etc are also frequently mistaken for each other

The emperor is a scorched earth kind of guy. He is betting his son will prevail but in order to do so, will eliminate all his enemies for him. Am not really a fan of how this has played out. The motives of too many characters is veering off into illogical and melodramatic territory.

Didn't the emperor say he is only using Zhuang to hone his son to be a sharper knife. He is quite happy to see his FSG take Zhuang down and he already eliminated Zhuang's line by killing off his only son. He has no intention of ever letting his second son near the throne. And tbh, even if the 2nd son ascends, he can't hold on to the throne. I would guess Murong Yao would snatch it from him. Other than FSG, he is the only one in that generation with the brains and the ruthlessness to seize power and hold on to it.

Well the problem with the logic of that is even if FSG were to give up the throne, he and his children will always be a threat to his brother's line of descent. So the idea that he can just walk away and be safe is simplistic and may work if they were full brothers but with the Zhaungs at the helm, Zhuang would want to permanently erase him as a threat. Similarly with XJS, his (half) brother won't rest until he is dead.

I am not ready yet to say its bad, but I really didn't love the direction of tonight's episodes. Everyone's motive for doing terrible things sounds so shallow and petty. I kind of feel like the writer seriously lacks depth.
