I think if you are looking for drama with little angst Once Upon a Small Town may be for you. I started watching…
Hey Elena,
thank you for the recommendation ! I will definitely go check it out and see if the angst level is low enough for me! Thank you! 💗

It isn't perfect, but I strongly recommend you give "Extraordinary Attorney" another shot. I watched this show…
Hey Olive!
I will definitely give "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" another chance, but I think "Red Sleeve" is extremely angsty and has a SE doesn't it?

I have similar experience like you. I also started deviating away from Kdramas because they became very formulaic…
Hey Shreya!

I totally love Thai dramas as well. I feel like I can connect with it more, being desi myself! A lot of their cultural and religious aspects are very much similar to the desi culture and I find I can enjoy their dramas a lot more with the way they are structured around Karma, good deeds, etc.

Thank you for your recommendations!
I will definitely look into them 💗

Let me be honest started watching k-drama around 2016 and I enjoyed it, but not fanatically. After 2016 I grew…
Aww thank you so much, Hale!
I appreciate your time and also your recommendations!
Although I may not check out My Mister because I felt like the plot was a little heavy, and I have seen (AND LOVED) It's Okay, That's Love, I will definitely check out the rest! 💗

Thank you for the recommendations, Shuu!

I really did enjoy Love O2O as well! I watch that, Boss and Me, and My Sunshine once yearly to be honest. I think they are also adapted from novels from the same writer. If you have not seen the other two, you might also want to invest some time in them.

I'll take a note of your recommendations as well <3

I started my k drama journey in 2019 😃 with boys over the flowers then my love from another star then journey…
To be honest, Sweet Chilli, I too would not watch any of the dramas you have listed not watching or regretting watching (except Secretary Kim, which I did not dislike). I think our tastes are quite similar! Thank you for giving the article your time <3💗

mr sunshine and AOS are must watch imo. both have amazing story and romance btw leads
Yeah you might want to skip Mr Sunshine if you don't like the dangerous sort of angst if you know what I mean.

Thank you! I really enjoyed your article and find myself in the same slump now that you’ve experienced after…
Hello Fluffy's Mum!
Thank your for taking out your time and reading my article ^^

I truly wish for the both of us, that we find that magic and wholesomeness that we're witnessing being lost in Kdramas, elsewhere if not in Kdramas again. I think it's just that we have peculiar dislikes and likes and just because a drama is popular doesn't mean we will like it as well ^^'

Although let's remain positive as asian dramas are really useful mood-boosters, source of inspiration and also good entertainment, aren't they? 💗

Hello Mio!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience as well and I'm glad you agree with the points I made about Western dramas and the loss of magic in Kdramas.

I can't wait for your recommendations for Cdramas because unlike Kdramas (which I think are generally bad nowadays with chosen good ones), i think there are more good Cdramas being made but i'm just overwhelmed and uncertain which to pick hahaha.

Again, thank you so much for your time! 💗

" I did not regain the love back " yeah i'm not surprised given the 6 dramas you watched lol
Thank you for reading the article! I would love any recommendations you have, if you have any. Have a lovely week 💗

I agree with you on kdramas turning into something darker, more specifically western, unfortunately. Which made…
After reading your comment I realised you're right and the dramas have really turned towards catering for the western gaze. Though not right now, but eventually this may eventually strip Kdramas of the authentic flavour it used to carry when we first started our journey.

I also realised while writing this article that indeed the dramas I ended up being able to complete were the opposite of what I considered "magical" to be. However, I think what scared me off of most of the soft, romantic dramas I started was the newly formed trend of amplifying angst and increasing instances of SE.

I think it's a little ironic that I search for the magic in soft mellow romantic dramas but detest the romantic angst they now famously carry. On reflection, I can also say that there was angst in older romance dramas as well.. but why do I feel like it's more ... ruthlessly sad now...

In the end, I just want to say thank you so much for reading my article and for sharing your thoughts and experience with me. I appreciate it and also your words of advice.

If it doesn't work out, I won't force myself. Like you said, I'll watch what makes me happy <3

Hello Nitesh
Thank you for reading the article and for your comment!
I did give "Mystic Pop Up Bar" another try and will admit that it was not without hope, there were parts that I did enjoy a lot. Thank you for your suggestion <3

Also, dropping dramas saves our time and allows us to spend it watching something else which is much more worth it. So don't feel guilty, it's the smart choice to make

You're right about everything you said to be honest. I really feel the same. Even the romantic Kdramas now have this heavier chance of angst surrounding it and that's very off-putting to me. To be honest, I also ended up in Lakorn land within a year or two of starting my drama-watching journey and I have never left. Unlike the Kdrama site, there isn't any form of inconsistency in the Lakorn land. I think it's also because they do a lot of remakes and it keeps the flavour alive in each generation. Lakorns are magical, i'm glad you found magic in them too! <3 — What are some of your favourite lakorns by the way? 💗

ALSO I LOVE BELLA TOO <3

Thank you so much for reading the article 💗 To be honest, I feel through this article i've realised there are so many other viewers who have also disconnected from Kdramas. I'll take note of the titles you've mentioned. How's the angst level in each ?

Thank you so much for the recommendations and the short notes beside each of them <3 💗
I honestly run away from romantic angst. It's just the best sort of way to get me uninterested in a drama so low angst is definitely something that's very inviting hahaha

Ah! Thank you so much for taking out your time and reading the article, I'll definitely look into the two recommendations. I think I've heard of both before. <3

Honestly, I can understand how you found comfort in Kdramas. I really think that dramas have this sort of healing power. Sometimes it reminds us to have hope, sometimes it reminds us to step back and look at the small joys in life. Sometimes when life is too tough, watching dramas with an investigative theme and watching justice prevail allows us to let off some steam and believe in good winning over bad, of the light being at the end of the tunnel. I'm glad we've all been able to be brought together by dramas <3 💗
