Fasten your seatbelt, sit back and watch a funny and sweet crime solving show that will have you in tears of laughter. This show is a good mix of genres, like mystery, crime solving, romance and social problems like abuse and drugs. There are subtle hints of other movies/shows such as Batman, GhostBusters and Mission Impossible. I kind of see this show as a parody of these movies/shows and an attempt to play with some clichés like Cold CEO/Warm poor woman, Marriage Alliance, Amnesia, Hidden Identity and so on. That might not be interesting for everyone, but I loved it.
I've been waiting! Super glad it's here now. Why though is the movie 3 hours and the 24 episodes were supposedly…
It is listed wrong. The "movie" version is 3 h 42 min. and according to sites that show the episodes individually, you can see that every episode is around 12 min. I have submitted a change in the translation but don't know if they approve it.
I decided to watch this show despite the very bad reviews and comments. I just had to see for myself if things were really that bad. Sadly they were. This couple truly had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at them. That makes it interesting some of the way but also so frustrating that I got to the point where I thought FL deserved to end up with the scheming guy. She wasn’t really worthy of the great love she ended up receiving. If you love scheming and bad things happening to good people, this is definitely the show for you - otherwise find something else to spend your precious time on.
"mostly lighthearted romantic" not really.. Pretty much an annoying Love Triangle and you call it "lighthearted"…
FL never had any feelings towards 2ML so there wasn’t actually any serious (in comparison) love triangle like we see in so many other comedies/dramas. She was exploring the process of dating and confessing because the show she participated in was a dating show and the therapist she used to wipe her feelings towards ML (unrealistic but a premise here) told her she could move on by starting a new relationship. Therefore I interpret it as mostly (because there really was a 2ML who was interested in her) lighthearted.
So wait is Xiao Rin Zhou acutally related/half brothers to Qin Che and Qin Shu then????????????Or was it a another…
The translation says that the Crown Prince suspects Xiao Lin Zhou to be "the late Lord's son" and thereby a Prince. What he must mean is the late King or one of the king's brothers (otherwise he wouldn't be a Prince). How they are related is not explained but they could be cousins depending on the relationship between the King and his predecessor (or brother). Ultimately that means that he is in fact a potential threat to the Crown Princ and therefore the trick in the end to save Xiao Lin Zhou.
There is nothing bizarre about the ending but it is a bit complicated. I have tried to explain the ending in the…
It’s a happy ending no matter how you interpret the ending. I might be wrong, but as I understand the ending, the spirit (a flower) of the original Xiao Man returns to her immortal “body” - you literally see her dividing into a physical body (Yue Er) and a spirit “body” (Xiao Man). That means that Yue Er gets to stay and live her life with Hua Yi Nan (MLs reincarnation). The spirit of Xiao Man seeps into the tree and 2ML (a snake) who dies in the final fight with Hua Yi Nan (ML) is buried at its base (Xiao Man cultivated into a tree spirit with the help of 2ML in the beginning of the show so it’s natural that she seeps into the spiritual tree). The last scene shows us an alternate ending to the very first scene of the show where Xiao Man (after cultivation) refuses to leave for the immortal world with Xuan Wang (2ML) because of her love for Mu Yuan (ML) - which ultimately leads to the fight between ML and 2ML. She agrees to go with 2ML. I interpret it as Xiao Man’s attempt to stop the vicious incarnation circle, hurting all three souls over and over again. Perhaps it’s an illusion she creates for 2ML or perhaps she gives up on her love for ML? That is open for discussion since it is a fantasy show (so anything goes, LOL).
Someone needs to clarify what's exactly bizarre about the bizarre ending so I can either start it or drop it,…
There is nothing bizarre about the ending but it is a bit complicated. I have tried to explain the ending in the following spoiler. So don't read if you don't want to know what happend or read after watching. It is a very good show and it’s mostly sweet and lighthearted. Personally I loved it and highly recommend it if you are into a light and romantic fantasy show with a bit of drama.
Exactly. Sadly this seems to be a premise for these kinds of shows. Fortunately there are a lot of shows out there…
Yes, I saw that somewhere. There are actually a few other couples who do the same. I agree that the quality is very good but there is a basic problem regarding the English skill when the production companies translate their shows. English is my second language and I'm sometimes very amused by the so-called translations. A lot of them are nonsensical and confuse more than enlighten us. Especially gender related words like him, her, I, you and so on are random at best. Perhaps they use an automated translator that really doesn’t understand Chinese in the first place, LOL. Since Chinese is a language with tons of idioms and homonyms, I guess that’s understandable. It’s a pity because a lot of Chinese shows are interesting and refreshing after years and years of watching English/American shows and movies.
It's still confusing even for me who is fluent in Chinese. The scenes jump way too quickly and the seem to also…
Exactly. Sadly this seems to be a premise for these kinds of shows. Fortunately there are a lot of shows out there that are better. There are always some weeds amongst the flowers, LOL.
I just rewatched this - which I normally never do - and OMG this is so funny. I totally forgot (perhaps because I’ve seen hundreds of Asian shows). Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. It is definitely the show with the most bad advice ever - no one gives sound or viable advice, yet everything somehow works out fine, LOL. ML is extremely conceited and narcissistic, yet one of the most lovable and adorable MLs I’ve ever seen. If you want something very, very funny and lighthearted, this is the show.
When I think about how many topics/scenes are normally censored in Chinese productions, it baffles me that these violent and abusive shows are approved.
To those who haven’t got the patience for a show of this length (or fear watching it because of the bad comments), there is a movie version (about 4 hours) on YouTube that is well worth watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-WhFxJVhAU
