Truly a hidden gem. Don’t miss out on this one if you love a lighthearted romantic comedy with a bit of drama.

I know several viewers see the ending here as a sad ending, and I guess that might be true to some extent. I, on the other hand, see it as a happy ending since I tend to have an optimistic view on things - you know, the “glass is half full or half empty” difference in view on life. I believe, only death is final.

I seldom feel sorry that a show has ended because it means that I can get on to my next great show. This time it’s actually different and I am definitely going to miss this show immensely. I hope they make a continuation or season 2.

Viki.com always have great eng subs but sometimes you have to pay for access. In my opinion it's definitely worth it 👌

... and I want him to experience childbirth in her body 😂😂😂
That happens in "Go Princess, Go!" where a modern man (playboy) is swapped into an empress' body. Great romcom if you ask me, LOL.

Apart from a borderline ridiculous forced marriage trope and a FL that isn’t particularly likable until the last third, this is a nice show.
Watch out for 2ML syndrome 😁

I really like this mini-show. The storyline is entertaining and funny. It’s very lighthearted and even if the business part of the story got a bit too much for me, I accept it because that is the engine that drives the show.

Did anyone finish watching this? I'm confused with the ending. Can anyone explain that to me?
I think they prepare for a new season, but the ending (in my opinion) is supposed to show that FL outwits (and outfights) the Prince so he has to admit defeat. He sits in darkness saying he has chosen his own death - meaning giving the Emperor the reason to eliminate him (if that is what he wants to).

I'm not 100% sure about the translation but here's what i found. The first one you mention is Pandora Box by Song…
Thank you so much. Normally I'm not that interested in the songs (since I don't understand much Chinese) but in this case I found myself actually listening to them, so I wanted to see if I could find them on YouTube. Now I have a chance. Thx 😃

You are absolutely right. I for one didn't like season 1 that much (almost dropped watching season 2 because of…
I see your point and I guess there is a cultural difference too. As a European mature woman I see many of the traits you mention in a different light - like, what you see as cute, I often see as dumb. I find a lot of FLs in these Asians shows excessively weak and dependent on the ML. I know that historically speaking this has been the case for many, many years, since women are often seen as (and in many cases are) the “weaker sex”. So it’s not a surprise that the female characters in historical/costume dramas are exactly that.
In this case the FL is exaggerated (in my view) “strong”, and starts off looking more like a selfish, headless chicken than a strong and independent woman. That changes along the way and I ended up liking her very much - especially in season 2 where we really get to see her skills and strengths.
ML is stereotypical but I like his character because he is not just this strong, powerful man but also warm and considerate.

For a number of reasons:
1. I didn’t find that there was anything new or special about the show. Only the angle of ML being a pirate was kind of different from other shows and the reason I gave it a chance.
2. The version I watched on YouTube had quite a number of scenes missing, like one second you saw FL secretly searching the storage room and the next second she was outside after (apparently) being discovered by ML. It created some holes in the story and made some sequences of the show a bit confusing.
3. FL was either played by an actress with limited acting skills or wrongly directed (most likely) into this over-perky, ill-tempered and annoying woman. I gave up on counting the times she screamed/shouted like a little girl (even if she was supposed to have been raised as a boy….), threw childish tantrums or hit ML. If it's supposed to be cute, then it fails - at least for me. Don't get me wrong, I love strong FLs but this character is so unreasonable that it’s on the brink of being ridiculous. Luckily that changes along the way and gets a lot better in season 2.
4. While I watched the show, I stopped watching after episode 14 (which could have been a season ending with a small cliffhanger). I thought a lot about dropping the last part of the show (ep. 15 to 24), but after a couple of weeks I decided to give it a go. That was actually a good idea because that part was way better and made my rating go up a bit. Now the story got exciting and interesting in a way that the first part wasn’t and the way the story wrapped up was very good, as was the ending. FL’s role was reduced and that made her less annoying (with a few exceptions, ex. her crying which wasn’t fooling anybody). Their love story also got more interesting and there was no denying the chemistry between ML and FL.
Sorry for the (too) extensive answer 😊

Title Warm on a Cold Night Spoiler
The ending made no sense and was frankly lazy writing. I didn't see the twist coming because it made no sense…
Mu Yan (who disguised himself as the Qian Crown Prince) was Qi and followed the original plan of conquering the Qian state for the Qi Crown Prince Han Zheng (ML). That is why he initially planned on stealing the Divine Flame, thereby forcing the Qi wolves to go south (due to the progressing cold) and ultimately cause a war between the two states.
He just didn’t take two things into account, 1. That Su Jiu Er’s father would steal the Divine Flame to save his daughter and 2. That Han Zheng would refuse to follow the original plan because he changed his opinion about Qian - due to his falling in love with Su Jiu Er (FL) and his interactions with the Qian people. That was why Mu Yan said that he was not the one that had changed and that was also the reason he broke their friendship-bond and then left.
I admit that the plot is a bit far-fetched and it only makes sense because the premise was that Mu Yan wasn’t interested in becoming the King himself, which is a bit odd since Han Zheng’s father “stole” the throne from Mu Yan’s father in the first place. But I guess not everybody wants to become the King.
