I love long dramas over the shorter ones. If you peek at my watch list most will be 40+ eps falling mainly in…
Sorry that I took so so so long to reply. I was hella busy, I couldn't even watch dramas. But I finally came around. Ah, this article was like ages ago. I was relatively still new to long dramas 😅 . I watched so much more. But I love them even more. I love how we get to go deeper in every story, and enjoy it slowly. And how simple they are compared to shorter dramas. Mostly, like you, I watch family dramas with romance, (I even made a list for them https://kisskh.at/list/P4Y60N91) or historical dramas (but almost no historical dramas are left). Now I gravitate towards older dramas, but it is sad that I can't find them sometimes. I checked your watchlist and added the long dramas that were not on my radar to my personal list of long dramas :) It has 133 titles now 😅
Late observation about episode 15 and episode 6 scenes in the spoiler (This drama get better and feels fresher…
In ep 15, at the restaurant, during their conversation when Gu-ssi said smiling: “like before, are you still… living slowly slowly?” And “let’s go; step by step” was actually referring to what she said in ep 6 right before he got an ice cream from the freezer. uwu
I am a big appreciator of writers, and writing, and sentiment found in between those lines. PHY has proved herself as a really good writer with several works. But,
A drama is not only writing. The director is the storyteller. They can completely change the style. They can make or break the story. A good director may take a lacking script and make it into a masterpiece, or vice versa. In my personal experience with PHY, I liked her writing, and the drama My Mister was able to catch my interest with its wit, but it did not impress me, and I was not sure what the exact cause was. But I think it was part the director's fault (it wasn't bad, but it wasn't my preferred style). And there are many such examples with other dramas.
So it depends on the skill of the director's storytelling. A good story can be told badly, and a bad story can be told interestingly.
And the compatibility of directing style and writer's story also play an important part. If they were suitable or not.
Acting is the other piece of course. Which I will not go into because it is usually the most talked about.
Again, I know this is an article about writing, and I went out of the scope of it. And I respect writers. A LOT. I just wanted to highlight the importance of this team work, and its compatibility. Sorry to be a party pooper.
I loved the article. I hope more light is shed on writers in future articles too :) .
He first started a sweet potato oven business which could have succeeded if he did not miss the testing. Then his friend told him about a convenience store for sale. They moved close to it and he wrapped up the oven business and took a loan to buy the store. During the time jump he works hard and by the end of it he pays off all the loan and finally becomes the owner without any debt. Then he starts looking for what he really wants to do.
Question about something that Mi Jeong said in episode 9
How did she guess his name? When she was in Mr. Gu house, after buying alcohol from the convenience store, she was making up a name for him to tell the store lady who asked about him. She guessed an age, and she said it either has "Ja" or "Bon", and guessed some names. How did she know about the "Ja" or "Bon"? Did I miss it?
My own suppositions after Episode 16’s ending:Maybe Gu took his money, to leave his present work, to start his…
Best ending explanation! I want to think that mr Gu to took the money to start his own sink business and quit the other business that he wasn't happy with, and they would return to the countryside.
Ok, the more I sit with it, I realize this drama really ended the way it began: unassuming and quietly sneaking…
That is what it was for me too; 'scary'. Exactly like you said. I spent the final episodes with so many uncomfortable feelings. My head went crazy, my heart was shredded, my stomach was churning, and I guess that is what it was. I was actually scared.
In the last ep the line Gu said to gangsters about not being good at studying has so much more meaning if you…
really love the interpretations. i really loved reading them. but i am curious about number 3 lol. because i faintly remember back stretching during work, but i don't think they even hinted about the latter part. So, mi jeong's expression, when was that?

Correct me if it is wrong, please.
I read somewhere that it is common for the family 'Gu' to use 'Ja' or 'Bon' in their names. So I guess, that is how she guessed it?
