The use of the promissory note was his worst decision!!
In his defence, he didn't know what the promissory note contained. And he's the honest sort, so once he agreed he went on with it. He wasn't after a get-rich-quick end, he wanted to keep his father's business going with the people who meant something to him. The fact that the gloves allowed his business to make a profit was sufficient. And given the later events of PYO likely going to go through financial problems due to the boat purchase, it was probably for the best!
I really enjoyed it... but IQIYI let me down in the translation department. The subs were ahead (by about 5 minutes) of what was happening on the screen in Ep.2. And they didn't translate any of the typed text. Consequently I would love to know what the ending scene said!!!
I agree, maybe the shorter format of the K version changed the dynamics?
The K version spent far longer on the teen years so the adult years and particularly the relationship development between Li Jian Jian and Ling Xiao felt very rushed into a couple of episodes. I have seen some comments that this part in the K version put people off the whole drama, but it was done far more sensitively (and believably) in the original.
The mother of Ling Xiao in the original was an emotional manipulator which is easier to imagine than the physically AND mentally abusive mother in the K version.
And of course there was more depth in the side characters stories in the original.
I really loved this drama. Yes, some character arcs are annoying at times, but when you look back you can see why they were done that way. Don't let the relatively low rating put you off - if you can handle a slower pace and like a story you can reflect on, do watch it all.
I saw another theory here that he returned with his daughter at some point and the last scene was him as an old man, his daughter is the hand on his arm and his grandchild running around.
- a broken pelvis usually just needs rest to heal, why would it have caused blood loss and death? - calcium/bone density loss in space, what about the child who has spent her first year (or more) in space? Its not like you can put a baby on a treadmill - how would she survive in Earth's gravity? - what would have to be done to get the child back to earth who had an underdeveloped heart and likely very weak bones/muscles etc., to withstand 4G on re-entry? - what happened with the fine and prison sentence and reprimands for ML ... he is lauded as a space infertility hero?
And some clarity about the ending would have been good.... as I am hugely confused.

But really, who knows at this point!
