Episode 8 spoilers ahead!!Jung Hae In's acting is so good... The way he was acting in his room after he confessed…
Continuing while I watch the episode...
It's frustrating to see the male lead's dad not communicating with his wife and pretending he forgot her birthday because he saw her with another guy that night. It's understandable to feel hurt, but just say what's on your mind, don't pretend you forgot her important day just to hurt her feelings like she did to you. It's immature behavior.
And FL's mom is annoying me so much, ahhhhh. Stop contacting you daughter's ex!!!
I'm feeling like this drama has everything I already saw in other friends to lovers dramas, but I'm still enjoying it very much (and it's not like every other show I watched before is super original as well, so there's no problem with that).
Funny thing i'm watching Welcome to Samdal-ri side by side and the two shows are so similar. Childhood friends…
For me it's the opposite. Friends to lovers or childhood friends to lovers are my favorite type of romance to watch because I love that they know each other for so long and are so close to each other, and I also love seeing the relationship shift and become romantic, especially if one of them is already in love for a long time (seeing their one-sided love being reciprocated is so satisfying to me).
This screenwriter, in my opinion, doesn't know how to write a female character. He tried so hard to convince us she was different from other women in every single episode, in a way that becomes insulting to every other woman. In fact, every character in this drama was two-dimensional and didn’t behave like real people.
The drama also suffered from lazy writing and a lack of subtext. There were countless moments where the dialogue felt unnatural and too expository to me, and to top it off, the last episode was extremely rushed and exaggerated.
Overall, this was not a good experience for me, and the loss is completely mine. I don’t intend to ruin anyone else’s enjoyment of this drama, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
One of my favorite dramas. I never felt bored watching it and I loved the main leads' relationship. The political plot and the female lead's journey were really interesting to watch for me, and she became one of my favorite female leads in kdramas. I also loved the male lead and I enjoyed how he supported her and was always by her side. The production is also one of the best I've seen at the moment from all the dramas I've watched.
Overall, I find this drama unique and I highly recommend it if you are interested in political centered dramas with romance, a passionate and quirky female lead who isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in (even when she doesn't have many allies), and a serious but supportive male lead who shows his warm-hearted side afterwards. The romance between them is there and it's significant on the second half of the drama. They were cute and had natural chemistry together, I really loved them.
I'm not going to lie... this was not my cup of tea. It's not that I don't enjoy slow dramas, but something just…
For me it was the characters that didn't interested me that much and I didn't enjoy the direction the story went, it felt repetitive and uninteresting. I liked the main leads and the OST, but the story didn't please me so much. It was my experience though, so it's okay if other people enjoy the things I didn't.
I have no words. I completely underestimated this drama, initially thinking it would be a simple rom-com, but it transcended all my expectations. The plot threw me for a loop so many times that I couldn't bring myself to stop watching.
In the first few episodes, the drama was hilarious, but then it took a surprising turn and just kept getting better with each passing episode. The OST was so good, and a lot of times I felt like it amplified the excitement of the scene even more! The romance was really good imo. I loved the chemistry between the actors, and both of the leads were great. The acting in general was pretty good too.
I'd like to mention a few other things: the political plot was intriguing and addictive to watch, the sword-fighting scenes were epic, and I loved that they added strong female characters in the story. Last but not least, the ending was one of my favorites among all the dramas I've seen!
So you mean not bad = 8,5 (which basically means very good or great)?
I completely agree with you. 8.5 or 8.0 are pretty good rates for me. And 7 is good. It's so confusing to me when I'm looking for a new drama to watch and I find one with a 7.5 or 7.0 rating and find that people consider it bad, when it makes me think it could be good and fun. That's why I'm always wondering how am I going to tell the difference between a good drama and an average drama here on MDL when rates are so confusing.
I'm used to watching anime and using myanimelist or anilist to score and rate my anime, and I find the way people rate there fairer and easier to identify the quality of anime before watching it.
By the way, this is the rating logic on Myanimelist:
10- Masterpiece 9- Great 8- Very good 7- Good 6- Fine 5- Average 4- Bad 3- Very bad 2- Horrible 1- Appalling

Jung Hae In's acting is so good... The way he was acting in his room after he confessed to her looked so real. He looked really anxious.
And it was the same for me. It took me a few days to get into, but now it's my number 1 kdrama.
I really enjoyed watching this drama. If you're looking for a slowburn comfort drama, I recommend it!

I disagree with the happy ending tag. For me it was a bittersweet ending.
