Nicely done! Personally, his role as the heartbreakingly wistful Qi Heng in The Story of Ming Lan was the most memorable for me. But I also hold Reunion: The Sound of The Providence and The Guardian pretty close to heart...
Anyone know similar drama ? The slow plot, small homeland, etc?
Definitely Something in the Rain and One Spring Night cause Jung Hae In is the king of slow burn romance. Otherwise, Romance is a Bonus Book is also another warm and cozy drama with Lee Jong Suk totally in his noona romance element.
Such a well-written article! I could not have described this show with better words. The emotions in this show are just so raw and fragile yet strong and beautiful at the same time. A perfect heart-warming story for the current time, the warm and comforting embrace that everyone has been looking for...
Do you have to watch the 1st season in order to enjoy this?
Not really as the 2 seasons are very loosely connected in terms that you don't need to have watched season 1 to understand season 2. Of course, there are still some references back to season 1 which are quite nostalgic. Personally, I would recommend watching them sequentially as both seasons are totally worth it.
It's a real eye-opener with an unexpectedly heart-warming yet modern adaption of the noona-dongsaeng trope. The main actors are very well-chosen, especially Jong Suk for his previous role in the successful I Can Hear Your Voice of the same trope and Na Young for her charming and down-to-earth acting which really resonates with the maturity and perseverance of her character.
I also find that the resolution should feel 'resolved' rather than 'relieved'. Most of the time it does not have to be black or white, happy or sad, but leaves the audience with a lasting impression of the show, either a thought to reflect on or a memorable image to recall.
The ending is often the main factor in which I rated my dramas as it is going to either give a meaning to the whole series or render everything futile.
Nirvana in Fire and Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim are the epitome of a 'perfect' ending... if perfect is synonymous with a 9.5 to 10 star ratings.
I saw the movie and absolutely loved it but I have been putting off seeing this drama. I came on this page to…
I haven't seen the movie yet so pls watch this and then we can swap notes. From what I know of the blurbs, even though it's similar with the shape-shifting thing, the movie is more of a slice-of-life while the drama has a more rom-com feel to it.
I LOVE the screenshots, they really capture the suspense and "peculiarity" of the whole show.
For any potential viewers, the first 1 or 2 episodes may seem a bit lackluster or disconnected but that only adds to the brilliance of the show as the mystery begins to really unfold itself. Everything looks ordinary and yet, as we soon discover, a psychological ploy is actually brewing underneath. (see what I did there ;)
Moo Young kind of reminds me of In Guk's supposed brother in Hello Monster, Seon Ho played by Park Bo Gum, where it is conflicting whether we should vouch for him as an admirable personality or rather recoil and shiver by his probable psycho threats.
Most Chinese dramas are on YouTube so I usually check there first :)
