I agree. It has (in my opinion) surpassed "Gap" in terms of quality, and (for now at least) is the new standard. My only two complaints are:
1.) Way too short. Should have been 12 episodes long.
2.) No physical intimacy yet seen between the leads - which I'm certain we will get some next episode.

To an outsider, it probably looks like Nueng has all the power. At times, their relationship resembled a mother/daughter relationship, or perhaps a (much) older sister and her younger sister. There is no doubt who is in charge.
BUT Anueng seems to get her own way in the end. The way Anueng schemed her way into Nueng's bed shows me that she basically has Nueng wrapped around her little finger. I don't believe that Anueng was so scared in her own room at the resort that she couldn't sleep. Nueng's hesitation before allowing Anueng to join her in her bed makes me strongly suspect that Nueng knew what Anueng was up to. We'll see next episode how that scene plays out.

The last part of Episode 5 is FREAKING AWESOME. In my opinion, it's the best scene in the entire show.

It's much, much, MUCH tamer than the original novel. They age the lead characters by 2 years so the younger woman is a legal adult (which in Thailand is 20). In fact, she turns 21 in episode 4. The last episode is next week, and the leads are still not in a relationship, although it seems that will likely happen next week. So far they have had two pecks on the cheek and one peck on the lips. So, you can be very confident that none of the adult content in the book will find its way into the drama. Having said that, I'm expecting them to have a proper kiss next week. I personally think this drama is excellent - easily the best GL drama I've ever seen. It's a shame its so short.

I also love how Nueng refuses to submit to her Grandma's dictatorial intentions. It frustrates me so much that in so many dramas, adult children, often in their 30's are total doormats to their evil parents/grandparents desires. From my western perspective, the idea of adult children obeying their parents is abhorrent. I wish they would just tell their evil parents/grand parents to fk right off and and allow them to live their own life.

The sexual tension at the end of that episode was palpable. I really, REALLY hope next week isn't the last episode, but I fear it will be.

If NineStarStudios are not publicly announcing the total number of episodes (for whatever reason), then cast members would also not be permitted to reveal that information. We simply don't know, so there is no point in speculating. I'll be very sad if there are only 6 episodes, because I'm hoping for 10 or 12.

Absolutely. There is no need to have watched "Gap" before watching this. The only benefit of having watched "Gap" is that you would know the background of two (actually three) of the supporting characters, but knowing that background isn't necessary for this show.
I strongly suggest you do give "Blank" a watch. It is a high quality show with exceptionally good acting (especially from the leads), and has a really interesting storyline.

As you'll learn, the 16 year age gap is central to the storyline. Also, Anueng (the younger one) turns 21 in episode 4, which is before there is any romantic involvement between the characters.

I've just rewatched Episode 1 (Parts 1 and 2). I do see some differences (improvements) but the dialogue still contains dozens of errors of various types and severities (mostly grammatical, but also timing). For example, the VERY FIRST piece of dialogue at the 1:21 mark of Part 1 is "So, are you worth for me?". Obviously, this should say (something like), "So, are you worthy of me?". I also see they now refer to Nueng's apartment as a "dormitory" when they used to call it a "room".
It's great that they are improving their subtitles, but whoever is doing that work is obviously not a native English speaker (e.g. a dormitory is not an apartment). So, as long as their subtitles are sub-par (compared to what a native English speaker can produce), I'll continue my work. I do however want to agree with you that everyone should first watch the show on the official channel (to support them) before watching it elsewhere.

Hi fellow fans of "Blank the Series". I'm obsessed with this show. I love everything about it, except the poor quality auto-translated English subtitles. This is what I've discovered about auto-translated subs:
1.) They are VERY often ambiguous or confusing.
2.) They are occasionally missing altogether. Rarely, but there are some.
3.) They are sometime translated incorrectly. (e.g. "You" translated as "me", "remember" translated as "recognize", "small" translated as "round", "most" translated as "first"). Sometimes this error affects the meaning of the dialogue, adding to the confusion.
4.) The subtitle timing (the way the subtitle and the dialogue align) is almost never exact. Minor discrepancies are common, but they are easily ignored. However sometimes they are bad enough to be distracting.

Without clear, concise subtitles, the viewer just misses things, and some parts of the story make less sense. Emotional scenes can be diminished and humour can be misunderstood.

So, I've spent the last week an a bit manually rewriting the subtitles of the first four episodes of this drama. It takes me about 15 hours per episode, so yes, I'm obsessed with this show.

My focus is primarily on the clarity of the story-telling. This necessitates sometimes taking liberties with some of the wording of the subs. There are some occasions where an auto-translated subtitle is so ambiguous that its meaning is indecipherable, or where it is just missing altogether. In these situations, I made an educated guess what was being said, based on the context of the scene.
My secondary focus is on the length and timing of the subtitles (this is by far the most time consuming aspect of the process). I attempted to make all subtitles align with the dialogue perfectly, and also be readable in the time they are on the screen. So theoretically at least, it should never be necessary to pause a subtitle to read it as it isn't on the screen for long enough.
