But seriously, the storytelling is pretty strong in this drama. There are all these complexly interwoven plots, and most of them are both interesting in their own night and helping the central narrative along. It's not just relying on the ''will they or won't they" aspect of the romance, but at the same time the romance remains a vital part of the plot. They're carrying off the balance very well. And the birthday party episodes really brought that out.

Maybe this is as much about class as gender? The women he’s known thus far are spoiled pets by and large. Some, like his sisters, are basically kind, but his father’s harem and his own fiancée might inspire cynicism in anyone. Just a thought.
Wallace is doing such a good job here—this is the best acting I’ve seen from him. But I also have to give a shout out to Wang Yang. That man has such a dangerous smile. I just saw a scene in which he came across some workers gossiping and smiled and even in such a casual situation I felt scared for them :). Not to even mention the more loaded situations.
Trying to pin down the historical moment here, and I’m thinking the mention of Zhabei in Ep. 10 is referencing the Shanghai Massacre of 1927. Anyone have a sense of whether that’s right?
I don’t know if I can handle Wallace Chung AND Wang Yang in the same show. But this looks super promising even aside from the cast. On to the PTW list it goes…
The raws are on Duboku. I watched the first three episodes and although it’s cheesy and low budget I’m finding it kind of different and cute and fun so far. It reminds me of Serendipity—just don’t think too hard and enjoy the ride :).
