Great points and questions …I was thinking it reminded me of Mulholland Drive especially ! I think I might split the blame more 75/25, but I agree that she’s been so vague about what she wants—possibly even with herself—that how could anyone know. Maybe she’s the box…

the part of her husband she still loves. My main thinking is colors are so important in this show, and she dresses in the same olive drabs, dark blues, blacks and grays that the two husband figures do. But there’s also the fact that in FL’s novel, she died two years ago, and that now she’s providing a safe space for FL, taking all the pressure off (I agree with the previous poster that episode 14 is still in the coma). If I’m wrong, I’m soooo curious about how they are going to explain her character (she could also be an avatar of FL herself in a more confident, independent version, but darn it, the colors don’t line up! 😄).

It’s also actually a real mystery novel, apparently about a virtual reality game that blurs the lines between reality and the game (disclaimer: I haven’t read it and I’m not sure it’s even been translated into English).

Basically, this drama is full of clues about doubles, doppelgängers, hidden identities, and the power of art to articulate what words can’t. My theory is that we’re seeing a blend of the wife’s novel mentioned in the synopsis and an exploration of her husband’s attempts to fix things. I think the two men are the same person and that the female victims are actually examples of what FL could have become without her husband—including the student turned Stepford wife of her college teacher, and the trophy daughter sold by her mother in marriage to an older man. I don’t think the murders are literal. Mind you, I think it’s part of the fun of this kind of story to keep updating your understanding based on plot twists, and I’m ready to have my theories blown out of the water. But I think people might enjoy this more if they looked at most of the story as symbolic rather than literal.

Okay, since so many of you are lost, I’m going to try to throw some ideas out below. But the basic concept is that we’re not supposed to understand much—this is a psychological mystery that blends imagination and real life and we probably won’t know until the end what the real story is.

I do think this is more of a psychological drama and that many, if not most, of the characters represent different sides of people rather than existing independently.

To include: the novels The Klein Bottle, Jane Eyre, and Love in the Time of Cholera; the clip from Vertigo; and some of the numbers…

This is surprisingly good so far. Tense, well paced, lots of fascinating hints.

This plot…I feel like someone told AI to come up with a bunch of excuses for Cavan to ride a horse shirtless and fling the FL down on various surfaces for no clear reason and this is what they got. Mango subs are less confusing than this plot, that’s how bad it is.

And in such a green tea b***h kind of way! The screenwriter is really keeping me in a knot with this one because both brothers are horrible schemers but I really prefer the older brother's villainy to someone whining to his grandma…very curious how this is going to play out …

Honestly, I thought it was better than many of these. There were a lot of the usual tropes, but once they got on the same page they were a really strong team.

That all said, I see that even the Tencent website has him listed second. 🤷‍♀️

I really think so. First scene shows them kissing, along with flashbacks of them meeting as children—so pretty standard ML tropes, as is also the case in the intro. Chemistry is also super intense compared to the younger brother. Who knows, maybe the screen writer is going for something completely out of the ordinary, but based on the usual cdrama visual vocabulary, YZX is the ML.

I’ve watched the first 5 episodes and I really don’t think he’s SML.

Think of this as a really hot photo shoot rather than anything involving, you know, a plot…
