It should be the Sichuan dialect which is mostly similarly to standard Mandarin with slightly different pronunciations…
Thank you, so interesting—I had not realized there was a technical difference between accent and dialect, so I learned something today! Appreciate the detailed answer!

On Mango. As far as I can tell their subs are the only ones—every other site is stealing them. The subs are indeed awful but I know enough Mandarin to sort out the important bits, so long as the timing is right.
1. My girl has genius level IQ! She handled that confession beautifully! But I’m also glad to see her getting in some digs about Ms. Tomato. It may be a bit petulant but it’s succeeding in communicating to ML what some of his problems are.
2. When ML is quoting FL’s lines about pickles during the taping of the show and finishes with that absolutely ghastly dead-inside smile—wow. I rewatched that bit about five times. Excellent acting moment.
3. What are the aunt and uncle going to talk about when the main leads get together???
4. The director is turning out to be such a sweetie. At the same time, I like how he and the actress are actually developing some mutual respect and interest—not seeming just thrown together as romantic leftovers.
5. I’m going to milk today’s episode as long as possible to forestall the inevitable suffering of the wait for 9 and 10 🙁.
Story Arcs can be so painful! I'm actually not surprised by QY's decision because it stays true to her character.…
See, I am surprised by this turn. After so much opportunity to realize what amazing things people can do when they put others ahead of themselves—including the enormous risks so many took for her and the character development her family undergoes—this desire to be a completely free agent loosed from every relationship seems selfish (not to mention unrealistic from a historical point of view). I’m inclined to see more Lydia here than Elizabeth. The former was willing to throw away everything for desire; the latter made her decisions with the good and the dignity of her family in mind (especially her sister).
I'm devastated for Liang Yi. He had so much reason to hope that he'd won her heart and it all came crashing down…
You put this so well. I was really disappointed with the end of the episode as well. It’s unrealistic in so many ways—plot, characterization, historical realism. I’m hopeful that the writers have left themselves enough room (in terms of number of episodes) to recover, but my trust is certainly a bit eroded.
First episode was actually really good—and super funny. Great pace, witty editing, strong acting, and a fresh plot. I’m going to stick with this for a bit and see how it goes.
ehh... he DID very politely ask her to leave and held his feelings back in the beginning. clearly he didn't want…
I thought that as well. And the bit where he’s imagining her there and asking if she could just be with him instead of talking everything out—that was really moving, in addition to being a completely responsible wish.
All that said, the specific way he expressed his anger (asking who she was to share his feelings) was extra painful given that her main vulnerability is clearly that she might not be seen as special enough to claim anyone’s lasting appreciation. I like how the writing is making both of them come from such understandable places.
