Sorry, blame Mango’s subs, which called Xuan Xuan several names, including Mary. You’re probably right about it just being a regular kindergarten—the use of “trusteeship “ threw me for a loop.

I’ve had some of the same questions. In the first episode, when she picks Mary up, I could have sworn that the disapproving worker made some reference to the last day of the trusteeship, which I to mean an adoption was finally complete (and hence the new kindergarten). But I just tried to check it and now the subs aren’t saying anything like that and I’m not really understanding g how the original Mandarin would be saying that either. My two cents, based more on Cdrama tropes than anything actually solid, is that part of ML’s part trauma has something to do with the mother of the children (maybe his sister or some thing?).
Sigh…I can put up with a lot of things in these super-short dramas if the story is good enough, but apparently those freaky long leg filters is not one of them.
I’m a little disappointed in some people’s actions in ep. 15, but man, I’m turning into such a Meng Hao Tian fan. She’s so realistic and uncompromising about the right thing to do. I feel like everyone around her would benefit from asking themselves, “what would MHT do in this situation?”!
So far I’m only seeing it on duboku (raw). I’ve noticed that for these short dramas, Tencent usually has a delay before they’re available on the app. I’ll post here if I see it there.
Honestly? As of ep. 8, this is just super cute and fluffy. The ML is nice, the FL is adorkable, and whoever is voicing her has the perfect voice for the role. I’ve laughed out several times and experienced lots of hilarious second-hand embarrassment.
I watched this up until Ep9. Then I had to take a break for several days because Fan Zhi Xin is so toxic in this.…
Yes! There’s no grey here—the man enjoys being in power, not just over her but everyone around him. His behavior with the tavern owner shows how petty and prideful he is. FZX is knocking it out of the park here acting-wise but I’m afraid I’m going to have a hard time seeing him in a good guy role after this. I don’t want redemption for this character at all at this point—I just want her to get as far away as possible. My skin is starting to crawl every time he touches her.
This drama was stressing me out up to about episode 7. The FL’s lying was making it difficult for me to enjoy anything about it. But at that point not only did the screenwriter’s trademark humor set in, her intentions also became clearer. At one point the ML says something about how people want to be better than they are and so they end up lying to themselves and to others. Many of this writer’s dramas are about peeling away these lies so people can allow the truth at the heart of love to make them better.
I know not everyone is going to want to hold on through seven episodes to get to that dynamic, but I’m glad that I did.
