I’m having a lot of fun seeing how they adapt it—there’s a lot of creativity in that. And there are so many cases in which Asian countries remake each other’s work, including Korean remakes of Chinese material. I prefer to think of it as homage rather than ripoff!

I’m enjoying it so far. The acting is fine, especially ML and SML. I’m not at all bothered by the adaptation aspect, which is done very inventively.

As of Episode 2, this is looking like a *very * faithful retelling of Flower of Evil, adapted for historical China. Interesting.

Nice to see Ni Han Jin again!

Normally I would say, oh, no, not Mango, but at least they actually offer some form of subs. I’m watching like maybe four of those Tencent short length dramas with no subs and my head is starting to hurt …

It is, actually.

Just as a general rule of thumb, Tencent usually doesn’t sub these short form dramas until they’re done airing. Then the speed with which they’re subbed seems to depend on how well they do. Daisy’s presence means that there’s a better chance that it will be subbed relatively quickly, but who knows for sure. . .

Not subbed yet, but based on my experience with these Tencent dramas, this one will get subbed, but probably not for a few months.

This was cute, fluffy, and funny. Definitely recommend if you want something light and stress free.

This is off to an interesting start. A couple of the plot points seem kind of forced, but it’s definitely an intriguing premise.

Her country of origin is “Yin”; the word for English is “Ying”—if the subs are based on the audio that would explain it.

Oh, I agree! I think one of the reasons I’m feeling the angst so much is because her terror is so stark. And it really helps the storytelling because it suggests how intensely she suffered during the past three years. But it’s getting very difficult for me to want this to be a romance!

Holy cow, is this angsty. I’m getting second hand trauma here…

Sigh…I really want to like this because I love the leads and the Republican era , and they do look ever so stylish, but I’m having problems making it through the first episode and I don’t think it’s just because my Mandarin is so bad. They seem to be messing with the chronology for no clear reason, and I’m having a hard time accepting that the FL can get shot in the stomach, beat off an attacker, reapply her lipstick, hijack a getaway car and steer it expertly through the crowded streets of Shanghai. Someone please tell me if it gets better.

Zhu Li Lan! So pretty and talented. I’ll definitely be checking this out.

Machine subs are what they are, but this is actually off to a somewhat cute start. FL is fun to watch and the character is a bit out of the ordinary.
