Is this web drama good? Can someone please tell if it’s worth giving a chance?
I’ve been watching to Ep. 6 in the raw (and definitely missing some nuance) but I’m enjoying it so far. Yes, it’s tropey, but if you don’t mind a well done trope, give it a shot. The characterization of the FL is what makes it work for me; she’s trying so hard to heal that it’s almost painful but she’s so brave—so I’m really invested in her story. The ML is a huge jerk, so be warned, but of course that’s complicated by the premise. It’s not super great but I’m pretty into it at the moment (with the usual disclaimer about how many cdramas derail towards the middle).
Thank you!! I wondered if that was it but was unable to confirm (I have a vague sense of how the sound of Cantonese differs from Mandarin but I know pretty much zilch about it other than that). Your help is much appreciated!
Me too. I just love how they progress into a relationship without any grand confession or play hard to get etc…
I just love Ding Ning! The actress and the character are both so good (there’s a special place in my heart for dramas that put a lot of effort into side characters!) .
Just watched episode 1. I don’t know how on earth they’re going to stretch this out for 24 episodes but the first one had some laugh-out-loud moments and a slightly darker humor than one usually sees in cdramas.
They are already divorced. I suspect they gotten divorce over heated arguments because his wife misunderstood…
Yes. At one point the Ml suggests he might want to be more cautious and he just shrugs it off because he doesn’t think he’s doing anything wrong. And really, he’s not, but it’s probably going to cause some serious problems. I haven’t seen today’s episode though, so I may be missing something!

I really thought this was a fascinating dynamic—they both love each other so much, and yet this kind of tension can unfold. Her lie is at the heart of the problem, but in a way, his own virtue is making things worse—it’s like he can’t see how his actions might be perceived as wrong because he’s so very sure of his own integrity. It’s a pretty subtle knot and I look forward to seeing how it gets undone.
Anyone else watching this? I’m on Ep. 5 and enjoying it so far. It feels like the plot is going to take a while to pick up steam, but I’m liking the characters and their interactions.
Some episodes are available on YouTube. I’m only on #1 and haven’t committed one way or another but I had to come and say I loved SFL in Serendipity. She’s so adorable.
I can’t exactly say why, but this is such a relaxing little show. The only stressful thing about it is waiting for the next episodes ( and the fact that there are only 12 of them)!
I’m on episode 8 and for the most part I’m really enjoying it—it’s very funny and different. I am bothered by the FL’s treatment of him, which, let’s face it, is physical abuse that would be downright intolerable if the roles were reversed. But I’m going to stick it out for now because I am assuming we’re going to see huge character development for both of them and that she will get better.
My other (minor) complaint is that the pacing seems a little slow—but that may be because I’m so impatient to see what happens!
FL is adorable, smart, quirky and just fun to watch. ML has big time chemistry with her as well. So far, I feel…
Right, this is exactly why I asked—when I go to look at reactions and they’re all people who are fans of one of the leads, it makes me wonder about their objectivity. I’ve seen so many cases where (unlike you) people will praise the drama even when a given idol isn’t doing a good job. That’s fine, I get being a fan, but it makes it hard to tell whether it’s worth watching. This really is so far—and I agree that Z. Tao is doing a great job! I’m actively liking him in this role.
Let’s say, just hypothetically of course, that one wasn’t the biggest Z Tao fan. Would such a person still enjoy this? Asking for a friend.…
ETA: I’m not saying I actively dislike him (I actually enjoyed Brightest Star) but I’m not likely to like a drama *because* of him. So I’m curious if anyone can speak to the merits of the drama aside from his role in it.
