I also struggle with all the thirst that is going on in fandom. Sometimes it seems like all people care about is looks. Not that I don’t appreciate great visuals myself but it’s an afterthought at best. For me characterization,character dynamics, romance development,production,script etc. are far more important. Could never watch a show just because someone is supposedly ”hot”.

I think it was the focus on the political aspect that turned many people away. The biggest BL this year so far has been Khemjira, which shows that plenty of people do care about quality, it’s just that fantasy/supernatural tends to win over realism for many when it comes to fiction. Of course there will always still be those that just like to watch the generic and low budget GMMTV stuff haha.

Malicious hate is obviously bad, but I feel like constructive criticism in the BL fandom is extremely important. There will never be any proper and large-scale improvement unless people stop accepting bad writing,directing, acting etc. I really need the days when people watch anything as long as it is BL and has their faves in it to be over.

I really hope this delivers with all my heart. I’m literally starting to develop anger issues because of how many BLs/GLs I started this year but could not finish cause they were bad or boring. Clairbell team can still prevent my villain origin story from happening XD

Bad actors with bad scripts would look less awkward imho. It was really jarring for me to see Barcode in this after his work in BOC. His character was not written well, just like the others were not.

Yes I got into BL because of Kinnporsche. Imagine my disapointment after learning that other BLs are not anything like itXD

I agree 100%. It needs to be said as many times as possible. Fans need to stop trending shows just because their faves are in it. We need less people who are primarily occupied with celebrities and actor ships and more people who care about quality storytelling,character integrity and compelling romance in BL/GL. Currently my only hope is shows like Clairebell from smaller startups that have an actual creative vision and don’t treat queer stories like trash to make money of. Change seems really hard on a broader scale though because of the way many BL/GL fans operate.

I agree that they are better as just entertainers (applies to many other actors too). I know that this might ruffle some feathers here, but many established actor pairs who are not that excellent in the acting department could just stick to doing fan service on stage and social media interactions, since that is what a huge part of fans of Thai BL look forward to more anyway.

To me it seems like Domundi’s lineup for next year will have a hard time matching up to this.

Watched about 3/4 of next prince in the summer and it was very bad.

I think the script was probably ok but they lacked the budget needed for post-production (CGI etc.) Should have thought about that before filming though lol

I hope they don’t use romantic tropes or framing for the characters.

Okay, so I tried watching this cause I like vampires but it seems that my GMMTV allergy is still going strong. I guess if you don’t like their general formula you won’t be able to like anything from them:(

They’ve been saying ”soon” for like over a year now. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely do believe this will be out eventually, but nothing will be happening soon. When they say filming will start in month X on day Y that is when people should rise from their comasXD

I think the reason so many people love Kinnporsche so much is the characters.The characters really captured the hearts of a huge amount of people in a way that no other Thai show has been able to. If a show is good technically and plotwise people will watch and enjoy it, but forget about it soon after. But if the characters get people hooked that will make the audience stay, even years after the show has ended. To this day, Kinnporsche has an active fandom for all the three couples (Kinnporsche,VegasPete and Kimchay) with multiple new fan fics being written every day with no end in sight (also all 3 couples made it in the top 100 pairs in ao3 stats in 2022 and 2023 which is like crazy considering that Thai shows have not been able to get even one couple on the list before)So yes, KP the series might not have been perfect, but it has the kind of emotional hook that the other shows you mentioned do not have.

I think the cast is too large. Hard to give individual characters good development.

It seems it is always the new startups that pop up out of nowhere that create banger queer productions. Happened with Kinnporsche and now with this. Established big companies rarely make any truly good GLs or BLs in my opinion.

I’ve been waiting and biding my time around for something like this. I haven’t really watched any Thai GL before because romance taking place in school/the workplace/the entertainment industry do not really interest me, so I’m glad there is finally a premise that I find interesting and can enjoy🥰
