Is this Be On Cloud’s only drama for next year? I kind of hoped there would be something new.

I’m glad to hear the show has not been campy so far. Maybe I’ll give this a chance once all the episodes are out.

I mean portraying queer characters is not rocket science or anything. If they are able to play straight characters well I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to do the same with gay characters unless they were very homopohobic or something.

GMMTV is indeed very popular with straight teenage girls who love cutesy,fluffy, simple and campy stories. I’m not sure if I would every use the word ”interesting” in the context of GMMTV BLs though, they are all so formulaic and juvenile (Not me is the best they have come out with) Shine,Kinnporsche and a lot of danmei dramas etc. are more popular with a more mature and queer crowd due to more complex characterization and storytelling that relies on the viewer being able to use their brains and figure out what is going on themselves without everything being explicitly explained.

I think fantasy is just one of those genres that should’t be done without a decent budget.

I actually really feel you on this one. Maybe it’s because I come from book and anime/manga fandom that I’m used to new characters meaning new faces. All of the characters in Kinnporsche worked for me and I was able to get immersed because I had never seen the actors in anything else before. If I see the same actors as new characters the spell is broken and what is left is just two actors performing. This can be a dealbreaker if you are a character-focused person who craves full immersion in the fiction. Being like this is hard in a society that subscribes to celebrity culture haha. I’m actually waiting to hyperfixate on a book or an anime again so that I can engage with material that doesn’t break the fourth wall XD I’m still considering to watch Shine once the episodes have aired, but only for the plot because I would probably not be able to enjoy Trin and Thanwa. They would either feel like Mile and Apo rpf or a really twisted and wrong version of Kinn and Porsche lol but yeah I was glad to know there are others who don’t like the trend of having the same actors act together multiple times.

So I guess it is not serious, dark and gritty in tone like I wanted. Why must GMMTV do this to all of their shows😫Not everything has to be soft nd fluffy romcom, give us some proper dark romance dammit😬the style and vibe of the original pilot were so promising….

I want Thai entertainment industy to do more audition-based casting so bad. There is too much writing characters for specific actors or casting actors whose celebrity persona is similar to that of the character. No wonder some people have difficulty between separating actor from character and vice versa. They are often just too similar.

I think one reason people, including me, are vocal about our displeasure with this show is that the trailer and marketing gave the impression that this would be something new and overall high-quality. When the cake looks gorgeous but tastes bad the disappointment is bound to be bigger than if a cake looks bad and tastes exactly as it looks lol Revenged love trailer did not catch my interest at all so I did not watch it and it sounds bad too, so at least there was a match there haha

I said this under another comment but I’ll put it here as well: Thai BL is currently just making me mad at everyone. Mad at the creators for not caring about quality queer storytelling or creativity, mad at the fans for hyping up subpar shows just to support their faves (it’s not giving the industry much incentive to improve is it lol), and mad at the actors for accepting any shitty script out there just because they want to be in the spotlight. Like at this point no one has an ounce of self-respect😩Many people like to blame only the creators behind the scenes and they are definetly a huge problem but the fans and actors are also complicit in all of this.
