And it's a wrap!!! Mum-in-law approves of MeiRen (as she should). And there is a super sweet (and geeky Prof Zhuang proposal) and a reunion in a sea of poppy flowers when he is back from saving the world ❤️❤️❤️
Overall, much as I question some of the questionable editing choices in this drama, I'm still totally in love with the cuteness that is ZBB's Prof Zhuang and Esther Yu's MeiRen ❤️

As to what Xia Zhi told Prof Zhuang --> this is back when MeiRen was scheming to get Prof Zhuang to fall for her so she can avenge his earlier slight on her back in her uni days. So MeiRen drew up a 'plan' including steps to get him to fall for her. Because she is messy, the 'plan' makes its way into some of the drawings for the bird charity project and her ex-PA gives it to Xia Zhi who in turn gives it to Prof Zhuang. (His reaction to this is explained in a later episode, but let's just say his reaction is VERY satisfying :))

This devastates MeiRen, who is very insecure about her no make up looks.
Also, the timing of the weibo/old school photo is evilly timed to coincide with MeiRen's efforts to promote a bunch of products that are aimed at raising money and awareness for endangered birds. (But don't worry, Prof Zhuang is very literally there for MeiRen :))

He just goes, thinking he will message her later :( And MR is so mad that he stood her up that she blocks him on her accounts. I remember being super aghast in a later episode, when it is casually mentioned that he was gone for a whole year. (The editing is all over the place with this drama!!)
