I agree with @Brook - it is really good! Not the usual stuffs. If you want a more detailed synopsis that does not have major spoilers, there's a great one here that you can check out. Gives the general vibe so you can see if you want to give it a go: https://chdramacorner.blogspot.com/2023/02/under-microscope-2023-synopsis.html
I highly recommend this review (though it has some spoilers) for those who have finished the drama: https://chdramacorner.blogspot.com/2023/02/under-microscope-2023-final-review.html I wanna imagine that Shuai Jiamo is "unleashing the powers of math on an unsuspecting Ming dynasty, faithful cat in tow" and going for ham dinner at Baoyu's place as well!! They should invite over brother-in-law Lawyer! Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Personally I found this a compelling watch and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved Jing Boran and even warmed…
Interesting point there about nature v nuture. If Shulin had had more time with his adopted Mum... Or if Shulin has a Shifu like Zhang Ping did? Would he have gone genocidal then? Hmm Peizhi also an interesting one to look at from nature v nuture POV.
Loved your review PeachBlossomGoddess - Kudos! LOL at your description "Jing Boran's Peizhi is just too bloody distracting. How can a man look so damn indecent, almost naked with just his hair unbound?" Also your commenting on him being an eyelash man has me LOL-ing 🤣 Reading your review gives nice finish to drama - thank you.
I think you might like this review I found at https://chdramacorner.blogspot.com/2023/02/a-league-of-nobleman-2023-final-review.html, which has similar thinking on Lan Jue: “Honestly, Lan Jue with his hair down en déshabillé is a mood, as is him playing with kittens. Any man who loves kittens will eventually defeat their inner demons and re-find their moral compass - that has got to be some kind of immutable universe rule.” 🤣🤣🤣
It has a great discussion on the Plot, the Characters, and that Ending. Also a passage on Lan Jue/ Pei Zhi which is just gold : 🤣

5 episodes later, I realise I have no self restraint. I am now invested in the maths guy, the bestie, the shady lawyer etc. At this rate, I should be caught up by tomorrow 😆
Wow, that really summarizes everything in this drama. Back in ep 1, I was a little confused as to why Ye Xi is…
I'm rather glad I cam across that synopsis too cos I was super confused for a few episodes. That one provides a decent summary without being spoiler heavy, which is cool ✌️
I'm a bit confused by the timeline, anyone have any thoughts? In spoiler below:
I think it is (but am not sure):
1) YZ rescues BY --> (5.5 years ago?) 2) Half a year later BY is well.
3) YZ meets Tang Yang, who betrays and kills her --> (5 years ago). 4) She revives. Meets the Crown Prince (who betrays and kills her) and meets Cang Qi (who becomes love crazed for her). --> (3 years ago)
5) Present timeline is 5 years after her initial meeting with BY and her death at Tang Yang's hands? The new dude in her life being Tang Huan.
Any thoughts from others? I am not sure I'm right on this
More like she is a ginseng fairy so when she dies and you bury her the soil helps her regenerate, at least from…
Yup, agree @FreeTolive! Though I think (cant remember when, BY says he isnt sure she actually CAN come back each time... its all a bit chance-y. So maybe the fact that she saved him in ep 1 by putting some part of her ginseng spirit in him is part of it? BY says he wants her to stick around for a year so he can investigate the reason for her revivals, but that's prob just because he doesn't want her to fall for different scumbags 😂
The timeline is a bit confusing, but I think she saved BY first (5y ago) before she got killed and then revised etc with those other dudes...
I love that Bai Yue actually has a really good reason for pushing her away and keeping her as far away from him…
Wild speculation on my part (Ive watched up to ep 10 so far) but I reckon your guess is right! Maybe a ginseng root part of Ye Xi is inside Bai Yue meaning she can come back so long as he is near?
I also wonder about that wooden hairpin (the one that the Crown Prince took). That seemed to be linked to her life as well because when it got disturbed she felt ill etc.

The struggle is real and there will be epic binge-watching, come Monday 🤣
I'm a bit behind you guys but have five episodes in one sitting!
1) YZ rescues BY --> (5.5 years ago?)
2) Half a year later BY is well.
3) YZ meets Tang Yang, who betrays and kills her --> (5 years ago).
