I will be honest here. If one is love deprived and they want to see something overly romantic to the point of being TOXIC, watch Ashes of love. If one wants to watch a show where the pacing and the storyline are good, Go for Love and redemption. I agree with some of the points but I will mainly talk about the plot of these two dramas. In Love and redemption, we get to see many conspiracies and wars between all three realms, Love and redemption isn't focused on love as their focal point of the story. So there wasn't a draggy moment while watching it unlike Ashes of Love. This drama is so long but ironically there isn't a solid story other than watching an evil Heavenly Empress hating on a dimwit grape fairy and on Run Yu while her Phoenix son looks on and not helping. Run Yu, Run Yu 's mother, Empress and Yin You's back story was what was interesting in this drama. It's literally. The love story between leads from Heavenly realm to mortal real then back to heavenly realm and then, they break up while Run Yu being the third wheel and then they search for one another and that's it. I'm not a romance freak. So Ashes of Love was a waste of time to me. I can't even give it a rewatch value. However I have watched Love and redemption two times now and I'm still loving it. I just can't forget our glutinous Tengshe, our relaxed Lize Palace deputy Chief and our confidennt Wu Zhi Qi.
This drama didn't meet my expectations especially after knowing the big twists. Time travel dramas kinda disappoint. The only charm it has was the intrigue mystery but after figuring out the big picture, one loses intrest. I wonder how it got such ratings. For me memorist is still far better.
I have come back and this drama had the best plotwists and mysteries and more importantly it had NO ROMANCE yet it never lost it's pace for a minute. If I'm to choose between MEMORIST AND KING ETERNAL MONARCH, my answer is clear.
it's a pity i'm not so into historical korean dramas !!!💕💕
True, it's a pity. As a Sageuk historical kdrama watcher, I see you guys are missing out on the beauty of costumes and their culture let alone their intense political storylines in royal courts and war conquests. Their modern dramas are good but since I'm not a romcom person, I'm selective regarding those. if it's not a medical, Makjang, thriller or law, I don't waste my time.
Historical romcom???? I guess it's Joseon era. With a kpop lead actress, I guess we are going to have a cheesy storyline. How I wish for Yoo Seung Ho to take on a grey character in a very epic show , be it historical or modern setting. I have watched way too many heroic, handsome male lead rescuing a very beautiful damsel dramas.
I noticed this handsome man in Queen Seon deok, then in warrior Baek Dong Soo, then I continued watching him in magician, remember war of the son, the legend as Damdeok and in The emperor, the owner of the mask. I just couldn't see his romcom my strange hero. I just want him in a verg dark Makjang drama taking an antihero character.
This is strange. The last I checked was 12 eps, now 14 eps. They will destroy an epic story if they insert in ideas which weren't originally in the story like in the last empress. Glad I'm enjoying the devil judge. I won't miss it as much.
OMG. I love this. I devoured all 6 episodes and I have joined the waiting torture. I craved for a scene of a live court in law school where some prosecutor appealed to supreme court to change an article in the constitution but they didn't do it properly but here it's just INSANE. The writer knew what I craved.
Besides the fact that the protagonists are lawyers/judges there is nothing else that can be compared. Law school…
I love the concept and it's totally different since the two are law dramas but with different concepts. It depends what one loves. If one loves a normal law drama with normal investigations, Law school is the series to watch but if one loves a surrealistic dystopian world with a judge who isn't just a law officer but more of a politician with a pacing that's almost a typical Makjang, then the demon judge might be the cup of tea.
at the moment I'm loving this more but the whole plotline focus is different law school storyline was good but…
I have watched two episodes of this one but the concept is different. A Dystopian kind of world where we see law as just a "facet"yet it's the only hope and salvation for equality in that high and low class society. The storyline is unpredictable which I love. I don't know if it's a constutional monarchy but we'll see about that.
I put this drama off when it aired thinking the story will take place in prison and it will not meet my standard for medical dramas but I was wrong. What made my fears come true was the romance which just didn't appeal to me because of it's dynamic between the leads ; how it started and how it revolved. Was it the characters??? The acting??? Or their age gap??? For me it seemed like a young female medical student falling in love with a professor old enough to be her teacher. And to make matters worse, she did the chasing, the confession , the worrying, the crying and the clinging. I know the writer used the ML's ilness as their stepping stone to their romance but it would have been more beautiful and healthy if they had remained a professor who inspired her to be where she's and the resident who cared for her role model professor whom she takes as a family figure. I however enjoyed the romance of her little sister with Dr Lee and the bromance between the collegues. The plot has holes which can be neglected. I loved the medical cases. It's just a good drama though I wouldn't give rewatch value.
btw just to confirm my doubt ...i wanna ask ...logan's parents' character was played by someone else in s1 right…
I don't remember exactly but in season 1 , when Min Seol A arrived in the states, we saw Logan's parents. In season two we saw his older brother Alex and in season 3 , we see the grand mom and other relatives. I haven't kept track of their faces unless I go back and watch an episode in which Logan's family appeared.
I think it's because SookHoon felt like he betrayed Bae Rona to see his own father involved in the case of Oh Yoon Hee's death, the mum of his love. He thinks he doesn't deserve someone like Bae Rona.
MY SHIM SURYEON IS BACK. MY QUEEN IS BACK TO DO IT HER WAY. Always a head of everyone and with Kang Mari added into the mix, the ride is worth to watch. I knew Cheon Seojin's motives to save Logan weren't good and honourable plus it was out of character but this is so DIRTY and DISGUSTING to me. For the first-time fake Joo Dan Tae is tasting his own medicine. It was satisfying to watch. I loved how Bae Rona dealt with it. It pained her but she wasn't like some bitches who act clingy and ask why while crying. That was brave of her however she should be weary of Cheon Seojin. I thought the watch would have some crucial piece of evidence or clue to Oh Yoon Hee's death but it just turned out to be an "obvious secret" which to me it was a boring plotwist. I have rants of this episode like when it was said that the police found out that the bones at the scene were animal's bones, so does the writer mean to tell me that since the police found this and so the investigation ended there???? Also I happen to find the drugs in this drama function "miraculously" like what The Heck??? How did CSJ get to know Logan that deep??? It seems the characters of Baek Jun Ki and Jenny's dad have no purpose in this storyline. One is greedy beyond belief and an avid gambler and another has no diginity and pride left, practically fake JDT's dog. Anyway let me remind myself that this is a MAKJANG and that's why I'm continuing to watch it
