That's why I love watching with my mom cuz I rely on subs while she doesn't. Chinese is so complex. There's specific family vocabulary to show rank, title, and relationship.

Watching this with my mom. She explained that He Yan is a "shu" child while her brother is a "di" one (from the official wife). That sadly shows why she's "disposable" and considered less important.

Thank you for your honest review. I felt the same way. The first few episodes lured me in, but I didn't like how they suddenly butchered the SML's character so you can only choose the first ML. I also didn't like the abrupt switch in the FL; it didn't make sense and was too sudden.
