This might be a hit or a miss.If you just started watching k drama, like having watched a couple of kdramas, this…
I disagree with you. I started watching kdramas a year ago. Just found this one and love it. I also watched Jewel in the Palace and enjoyed it. But I must say many dramas go on too long even some of the short ones. Whether modern or older, it depends on how the story is told.

you know i spoiled myself the ending by watching the last minutes of the last ep seriously we should watch 56…
This is what I love about this drama. It takes the wedding scene and turns it upside-down. These two had a wedding in the final episode (General Huo in his black cape and NaioNaio in her red cape). You just missed it because it was not a traditional wedding. Nothing about their relationship was/is traditional. Why ruin it with a traditional wedding sequence! They do have a wedding, a beautiful one in my opinion. Both are dressed in the outfits they had on at the lantern festival where they first met face to face. They are out under the stars in a military camp. They are holding hands facing each other. Then they proceed to tell each other their vows. It is just them, which is the way it should be. Happy rewatching!

After seeing the main male lead in It's Okay to Not Be Okay and the Japanese version of this first, it was hard for me to watch this. I prefer the Japanese one because they got straight to the point with no side stories that did nothing to advance the plot.

Is the male lead known for his crying scenes? Because that is the only thing I remember about the show, and it is also one of the many things I remember about It's Okay to Not Be Okay.

I watched it back in like late 2017 and loved the drama, but the age gap just never ever sat right with me...…
Precisely and thanks, I wasn't quite sure what relationship to put, but definitely not lovers. Also, I never really understood why the main character was being punished. Wasn't he doing what a good general should have been doing? I think there is so much more they could have done with that drama besides "the goblin bride" which made no sense at all. I do wonder if they were trying to be a more modern drama with a costume drama twist.

I have been watching this over the last few days because of everyone saying it is outstanding. The cinematography was wonderful, and I loved the juxtaposition of all of his doors. However, I felt no chemistry between the main leads (even after she became of age). They acted more like a father and daughter who had just been reunited after 939 years, especially when she was 19. This made it hard for me to see them as lovers after that.

That's why I felt there was really no point to "the goblin bride" character. The person who should have been pulling out the sword as an act of redemption should have been the king as it was about his jealousy of the sister choosing her brother over him as to the reason why the goblin was killed in the first place. The goblin bride had nothing to do with it.

True, thank you.

Can someone explain to me why this is called The Last Immortal? The title does not seem to fit the storyline.

Thank you for trying to have a discussion with me about this. However, I feel you have missed the point of what myself and others were saying. I have watched many modern Chinese rom-coms and this drama did not add anything new to the genre. I like Zhao Lu Si and what she stands for when she plays a character. However, I disagree with you. The details do matter.

First, I feel that this is a cultural thing. In the United States, teachers can only talk with a parent or guardian because of FERPA laws. Also, if the brother wanted her to get in trouble, he would have just told the parents about the meeting. The fact that he didn't, says a lot. Third, isn't it the teacher's responsibility to reach out to a parent and set up a meeting? Why give that responsibility to the child when the child could bring in anybody. Fourth, if a kid you don't know came up and asked you to pretend to be his/her brother or sister, you would do it? Finally, I understand that the school incident was a way to get the story moving, but you still have to question why the ML would do this and why they showed the scene of ML and the brother talking about it at the end of the story. Every scene should have a purpose in advancing the story.

I loved this. So swoonworthy. And am I the only one with a huge Crush on the brother help meeee
He was my favorite character. I am wondering what he is hiding when he talks about finding a preschool and won't let anyone meet his love interest.

I have read the novel and there was no indication that the ML was flirting with FL while she was still in middle…
Teasing can also be a form of flirting.

I see h.a's point and yours as I liked a 19 year old guy when I was 14, and it was my best friend's brother. However, I think what disturbs people is the small stature of the actress who plays the character at 14 which is something that is commented on in the show itself when the ML asks her her age. She looks like an elementary student. We find out in the end that the ML talked with the brother about going to the school in the brother's place. The brother advised against it, but the ML does it anyway. Why would he do it if he wasn't interested in her? Why show us that scene?

Your comment on 15-year-olds and idols. Yes, they do like them, but is there a chance of them ever meeting the idol and the idol falling in love with them, no. That's the difference.

Don't trust the ratings but trust ZLS if you're her fan. She believes she and WAY are perfect for the roles. There…
Zhao Lu Si always plays a character who goes against societal beliefs. This character is no different. If you look at the acting experience of the entire cast, it is made up of people who are always in support roles, except Zhao. Many of them have been with her before. In this show, even though she is the main character, it doesn't feel like she is. She seems to be giving everyone else a chance to shine.

I'm glad that you liked Hidden Love. If you dropped Who Rules the World, then maybe Love Like a Galaxy is not for you. Both are very political. In fact, Love Like a Galaxy is all political from start to finish, so maybe that might be what is bothering you. Also, it is not a simple love story like Hidden Love.

I am not really sure what you mean by a beautiful story. This is a beautiful story about love, discipline, power, and autonomy, especially for women. This story is by far not your typical drama. In fact it takes all the typical tropes and turns them upside down. This is especially true for the five year breakup.

My suggestion to you, if you can stand it, is to watch every episode carefully. Watch how the ML looks at or doesn't look at the FL especially when he pulls her from the fire and then how he holds her when the girls try to push her into the broken glass. This is very deliberately done.

Also, if you like Zhao Lu Si and want simple beautiful love stories, watch Hidden Love, I Hear You, Dating in the Kitchen, Prodigy Healer, etc. Don't watch Untouchable Lovers or Better Than Immortality. The fact that you are mad that it is not a simple love story means everyone did their job.

Yes, she loves all three. You need to watch this show carefully, especially the first 27 episodes. Everything from the dialogue, to the facial expressions, the film shots, to even the position of the people in the scene are important to the story. This is one of the most well thought out filmed dramas I have watched. All others pale in comparison. I have watched this show several times and am still finding clever things that enhance the story.

That show is overrated.
I agree. Zhao Lu Si has played this role many times and this drama did not add anything new to the genre. The only reason I think she took this role is for the part where she can say that the son is not like his father and the promise that the ML's mother made is not written in stone and not the wish of the son. The societal norm seems to be if the father is corrupt then the son is as well which is not always true.
