Finally on kdrama they don’t hide anymore the body shape of a woman. In the past when the actress have a shapely…
As I said before I think they all lived in the same district and play together when they were little, near this roof were Lee Sol has her studio and paint the child while they play with bubble. For some reason she abandoned Ryan, than she had another child (shi an). I also think that Duk Mi’s mother just remember that one of the kid who lived nearby was abandoned but she doesn’t know that now he is Ryan gold. I also supposed that Ryan was abandoned at a cafe nearby, maybe that’s why he is now allergic to coffe, I find it strange for a drama to add an allergies without a reason. Or maybe I just watch to many kdrama cliché LOL
Finally on kdrama they don’t hide anymore the body shape of a woman. In the past when the actress have a shapely form they try to cover it, specially if the actress was underage. HPL once again show this is a drama more “mature” than typical romcoms. Park Min Young is beautiful and I love her office outfits. Ep11-12 were mostly dedicated to this new lovely couple, as much I loved them and their skinship, I hope next episodes will go back on track focusing on all aspect of the plot and give us a good wrap up. If they mess up with the children story it would be a really bad way to ruin a great show.
I was expecting something stronger, most of the show was about people who doesn't want the main couple to be together and as a couple they weren't that great. I liked more other cast members. At this point I don't know if this two weren't fit for their role or if they roles were bad written. I also didn't like at all the ending, if you want to do something like romeo and juliet you have to keep it until the end, don't change it at the last minute from tragedy to happy ending. Overall I found it inconsistent and it's a mess of genres.
You are confusing skills with fame.No one said he was a bad actor before, people just didn’t know about him…
First the word "Dude" you say that to someone you know, I am not your friend nor your family.
Second you are on a public comment section, you have to accept that someone may consider your comment offensive and decide to respond accordingly, so the word "chill", you keep it to yourself.
I do not care how much you already recommended this actor, my point wasn't that, my point was that your way of expressing this recommandation was offensive towards people who, maybe, only watch the romance genre or maybe only watched this project about him.
you're practically offending those who didn't know his previous work, putting you in a position of superiority. I also knew him from before but I don't go around boasting and denigrating others by saying that they wake up only thanks to romance.
I don't think I have to add anything else because your "dude chill" shows all your rudeness.
Anyone think that the woman who abandon Ryan at the orphanage is Deok Mi's mom? I think there's even hint in episode…
I think they lived in the same district and Deok Mi know what happened in the past and how the kid end up in adoption, but I think that Deok Mi doesn’t know that that abandoned kid is Ryan now.
When you want to show adultery and sex but you dont want to be classified as a porn, what do you do? You add an useless plot and obtain high society. How to waste a great cast.
It took a romcom for so many people to recognize Kim Jae wook , although my most fav roles of him are Sun woo…
You are confusing skills with fame. No one said he was a bad actor before, people just didn’t know about him cause maybe they don’t like other genres or his previous roles weren’t big “hit” despite his skills. We must accept that some role/project give more prominence to actor/actress and “launch” their career despite being great actor/actress even before that specific role. For example Shia labeouf was really great in his movie about golf but it became famous only later on, thanks to Transformers. But I don’t go around blaming people cause they realize Shia labeouf exist only after robots.
You could have said, “I liked him even before this role, you should try his previous project” It would have looked more polite than: “it took a romcom for so many people to realize how good he is”
I avoided this drama cause I thought it would be pure sadness, but while watching it I wasn’t sad at all, I was angry, I wanted to jump into the screen, grab their necks yelling “grow some balls and start living for God’s sake”.
Cause the main topic of this drama isn’t the company political scheming, nor the main lead’s brothers and friends subplot, the main topic is the pity and apathy of living. The plot is definitely not perfect and even a bit draggy throward the end, but every day life situation, in and out work, end up tolding us a giant story about life, love, family and friendship.
Despite having many characters, we can see that the writer portrait four type of people who live in different grades of apathy and commiseration.
We have Dong Hoon who has a good job, a beautiful wife and a son who studies aboard, with a bit of effort he could improve his career but instead he live apathetically, ignoring his wife in favor of his brothers, throwing giant pity party about how life is unfair when he is actually the lucky one between them all.
The second type are indeed Dong Hoon's brothers and their neighborhood’s friends. All of them have failed once in life, some with work, some in love, they also give up fighting and spent most of their time drinking, making dark comedy jocks about funerals and reincarnation, cause their actual life is just so unfair.
But in their neighborhood also live Ji An, an young woman, the third type, who really is living a pitiful life, the real poor life who beat you everyday and hard. Ji An, who also work in the same company as Dong Hoon, for the sake of her survival she start scheming against Dong Hoon but while doing so her convictions are swept away by Dong Hoon's generosity actions.
Last but not least there is a four type of people which are the "bad people". They scheme and use other to gain what they want, they work in the company and are the main “antagonist”. A special mention deserve Gwang Il, the loan shark who is more interested in destroying Ji An, than to get his money back. His character collocates between the bad peoples and the pity ones, and his feeling are very controversial and imho he deserved much more screentime instead of some other antagonist.
While the story unfold all this characters learn a lesson about life and try to improve their situation but the common denominator is always “poor me, life is unfair”. The real greatness of this drama is not the plot itself but the emotions that can stir the viewers, which can be various cause everyone live according to a different philosophy. I was angry, some of you may get frustrated, depressed or even sad.
Even if the title could definitely be changed in “pity party” and watching 16 long episodes about people who commiserate themself constantly was a pain in the ass, I think that this show still deserved to be watched, if only to see the great performance made by the cast, specially IU’s character which was superb. She was a scheming bitch, in other drama you will be mad at her, but in this one you will cheer for her and be mad with all the other characters. This is the peculiarity of this drama, the way one lives can turn bad into good and good into bad.
Overall rating 8, too draggy at the end and despite the story and acting being great they over exaggerated with the "pity" and "dramatic" theme.
well the plot of course is simple like any other romance comedy, but I find that in MDL at least they try to give space to every component of the plot, non only to the romance, but also to their job, the fangirling theme, the friendship, the family etc. I also like how they try to reduce at minimal the cliché even if unfortunately at some point they had to put some in the plot. But the best part of course is the romance which for once in a while seems more mature and real like a 30 years couple should be.
I liked your idea but I think the article could be developed a bit more, like putting more titles that have bad audience in korean but are famous on the web, and opposite, put some titles that had high viewers in korean but bad rating in the web. But I get that, even if is not hard to find korean data audience, is more difficult to find objective data about web audience. So I appreciated your effort.
As I predicted Wuxia and "fantasy martial arts" are just not my kind of genre, the story was just pretty average, 2 hours weren't enough to explain who the two faction were, why they were enemies, most of the show was about the romance with twist plot and flying fighting. Good acting, good music, good cinemtography. What I liked most was the ending, the battle in the snow and how the love triangle ended.
Just my thought, but Kdrama and K movies often need to add in an element of Redemption...that the guilty person…
Probably but I would have like a more “realistic” way to express his redemption or repentance, considering the kind of movie it is, not a fantasy nor a supernatural. So my theory is that his sorrow and regret makes him saw hallucinations.
What a thriller !! From all the praising I was expecting something stronger, it was instead a bit slow with a few imperfection, but the thrills was real! You stay on your seat from the start to the end with this anxiety and thrilling sensation. Great movie!
Never seen such a make out session in a kdrama!!!! LoL
But Poor Eun Gi! I know Ryan is the perfect man but why the Prince Charming always have to win over the normal guy? Give at least the man the chance to confess so he can get over her.
Beside She is the one who hide behind Eun Gi and create the mess in the first place, you don’t hide from your boyfriend behind another man!
I can’t wait to see next episodes I like a bit of conflict to make things spicy!
Eun Gi is doing us a favor right now, making Ryan jealous!
I also think that Duk Mi’s mother just remember that one of the kid who lived nearby was abandoned but she doesn’t know that now he is Ryan gold.
