Don't count me in as the "vast majority of us here" because I don't agree with you. I'll paraphrase what I said…
Well, we obviously have way different opinions, since both Stranger 2 and Alice in Borderland got 10's from me. But you're certainly entitled to your opinion.
And yes, K- and J-dramas are different, and this site seems to be only about K-dramas and ignores the vast majority of the rest of East Asian dramas (it's not actually "Asian dramas" either.)
I'm not totally sure of your point, frankly, since other countries like Thailand, China, and Taiwan have also had dramas that have had multiple seasons, but again, this site is all about the K-dramas.
I'm sorry to hear that you can't watch J-dramas - you're missing out. But again, that's just my opinion.

Why is she screaming all the time, screaming with such aggression, accusations. I get the feeling that some not…
Huh? She hasn't screamed once in To Fly With You. This is a weird comment, actually.

I'm so happy the drama gods didn't listen to all the second season naysayers and deprive us of the frickin' masterpiece that was Stranger 2!
All the endless complaining about K-dramas not being "allowed" to have second seasons gets super old, especially in the comment sections of articles like this asking for more from certain shows.

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!Kdramas' second season is a sacrilege ! It is NONSENSE! STOP applying western (i.e. American)…
Don't count me in as the "vast majority of us here" because I don't agree with you. I'll paraphrase what I said earlier which is Stranger 2 was a frickin' masterpiece, and a second season that the actors and writers themselves fought for years to get. (They aren't American, btw.)
And I also keep saying that just because K-dramas might not have had multiple seasons before, other Asian dramas have, and continue to do so. Lots of J-dramas have had multiple seasons and they're not on Netflix. I, for one, am beyond psyched for the continuation of Alice in Borderland!
I guess if you really don't want to watch a second season of something, don't?

That's the point though, to push kdrama boundaries. They do the power struggle of rich vs poor so much but they…
I hear what you're saying about wanting to see new ways of telling stories about class, and I would agree. (I also wish we would see more dramas that explore the racial and ethnic diversities within these countries, because they're certainly present!!)

And I like the idea of an homage. :-)

(Is your last sentence referencing Squid Game?)

I love this article, even as I disagree strongly (but respectfully) about remaking Veronica Mars. :-) It's one of my all-time favorite tv shows (that f***ing terrible last season notwithstanding.) It's also very, very American. It explores racial, class, gender, parental, and relationship issues with a humor and viewpoint that is uniquely American and I'm frankly not sure that the essence of what made it so special could be redone.

MAYBE, just maybe, if it was remade as a J-drama, it could get closer to the source material, but I just haven't seen other K-dramas that match VM in tone, and sharp, incisive, and biting social commentary. J-dramas, in my opinion, are generally darker, and more edgy, and are often unafraid to push boundaries that I wish more K-dramas would push. There have been K-films that have come closer to this kind of social commentary, for sure, but I'd be curious if there is an existing K-drama that would come close to what Veronica Mars represented.

Also, and I'll just be honest here, there is no one who could replace Jason Dohring as Logan. No one. (LoVe from a Marshmallow!)

And I totally understand what remakes are for - they're not to redo a show or film exactly but to put one's own cultural spin on them. Ironically, I often actually like remakes because I'm interested in that aspect. But some things are too unique to be replicated, maybe?

(One last thing. Squid Game, while entertaining, was not new. It was simply the latest in a long line of dramas and films from the death game genre.)

But all that aside, I enjoyed reading the rest of your article and found many of your casting choices interesting!

It's obvious I need to stay away from the comment section until the end of the drama. Use the freakin' spoiler button, people!! Don't ruin it for everyone.

Crazy story that has very unreasonable basis.
Because it's a fictional story? It does have a "superpower" tag...
