Believe it or not, I first met Dean in the Taiwanese drama Just You and for a long time didn't even realize that…
I haven't actually seen her drama with Suda yet - but I'll look for My Love Story!! - speaking of Suda, I'm in the middle of his film My Little Monster is it's ridiculous and incredibly funny so far! :-)

i really like this comment ....kdramas will top my watchlist forever cdramas have cliches or maybe I just stumble…
MDL has a preference toward K-dramas, and the ratings of J-dramas is just one piece of that. Many comment and forum posts have been dedicated to the fact that K-drama ratings (and some for C-dramas) are vastly inflated and everything else is under-inflated. So if something is over-inflated that shouldn't mean that everything else is less than, it just means that the over-inflated rating shouldn't be taken as the absolute truth. So yes, a lot more should be said.
By the way, I think you're talking about two different things when you're talking about ratings and the "orange filter" you keep complaining about. Followers isn't even my favorite drama, writing-wise, but its production value was through the roof. So yes, a lot more can be said than just taking MDL ratings (and Google approval?!) as proof that a drama should be watched.

I watch some anime and read some manga too, but I would certainly never say that J-dramas are worse than those others - and not every J-drama is a live-action taken from either one. There are plenty (like every other country) that are derived from novels, novellas, and original writing.

Also, your comment "AiB showed that Japan can make good dramas if they want which means that they don't make good dramas usually right?" is....well, it's not correct. How many K-dramas with lower budgets have you liked? I don't know about the media from where you are, but in the US some awesome shows have had extremely low budgets, and I could say the same for some web-based dramas from around the world. I'm not sure why you keep saying that just because they don't always spend millions and millions of yen they can't tell a good story. Because Japan is damn good at telling stories, regardless of how much money they spend.

Lastly, I actually co-wrote an article about "Kikazuru koi something something" (its Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte) and so I'm very familiar with this drama and its comment section. Except for the first several, the comments are pretty positive.

And I loved Ishiahara satomi in Pretty Proofreader and I'm in the middle of Heaven? right now - she's very talented!
I've actually never seen Nagano Mei in anything, believe it or not....

Well, I think you should branch out a little more into TW-dramas too, if that's the case. LOL!
I'm loving your list and the descriptions of each one are hilariously awesome!

Thanks! I should do better about reviewing (and even rating) what I watch, but I don't usually take the time. Is there a specific one you'd like a short review for? (Lmk and I would write one.)
I've seen LDK and I'm sort of over shoujo at this point, much preferring a warm ML and one who has emotional intelligence and a personality, :-) But his character is Todome no Kiss was [chefs kiss] and I loved the Parallel piece to get to add to TnK.
I also really liked his character in Kingdom and the way he and Ryo played off each other (Ryo's genius acting abilities bring out the best in other actors, imo.)

You got me with Yokohama Ryusie in top 2 😍!We have some of the common favorites.I love Dean, Fukushi sota &…
Believe it or not, I first met Dean in the Taiwanese drama Just You and for a long time didn't even realize that he wasn't from Taiwan. :-) His language skills are excellent!
And I would absolutely agree about Michieda Shunsuke - he's hopefully got a bright career ahead of him.
Who are your favorites?

Yes there are, Once we were discussing about Jdramas for beginners and I told her that the most reliable way is…
And I should say that Kento isn't even my favorite Japanese actor - that would be a tie between Yoshizawa Ryo and Yokohama Ryusei, depending on what I've watched of theirs recently. (I do love watching Yamaken though!)
Here's my list of favorites, in order of preference:

Yes! This audience is most definitely diverse, and that's made it very interesting. Of all of Kento's stuff, A Girl & Three Sweethearts is probably my LEAST favorite and one that I wouldn't recommend to anyone, frankly. But goodness, there are others that are fantastic. What's your favorite of his?

Nothing against the actors ...i don't judge actors through a single drama ....cuz I think it's extremely unfair...bec…
I'll be interested in what you think of AiB - I got very tired of the comparisons to Squid Game (they're not the same, but both - and almost all death game genre pieces - owe a debt to the Japanese Battle Royale novel and film.)
The second season is coming sometime this year, so just know that it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, per se, but it ends with a nudge to what could come next (and that's not spoiling anything.)

Since I'm obsessed with making custom lists, maybe I'll make a Best Of list for Kento and send it to you. Btw, I have lots of other lists in my profile, including my favorite J-dramas, films, noona dramas, and lots of other stuff - feel free to check it out sometime.
Thanks for being open to our suggestions :-)

"Japan should stop making dramas altogether if they don't wanna spend more money." WHAT??! I'm sorry, but this comment frustrates me. Have you even seen Alice in Borderland or Followers (or many others?)
I've read your comments about Japan's "orange filter" before and I remember commenting that they don't "all" look the same - there are literally thousands of J-dramas and films out there and they don't all look the same.
Also I seriously disagree that anime is better than J-dramas, but I don't have enough time to get into that.

I agree about not letting a single drama dictate how we feel about an actor!
Would you like me to post my favorite Kento stuff here or in a DM?
(Thanks for your kind reply!)

Hajimete Koi wo Shita Hi ni Yomu Hanashi is one of my most favorite dramas, and I loved Promise Cinderella as well, so we don't have the same taste - but that's ok. We can't all like age gap and student-teacher romances, (even though Hajimete Koi was one of the most pure and innocent of the bunch), and again, that's ok.

There are lots of other dramas that highlight what a phenomenal actor Meteor-kun (one of Yokohama Ryusei's nicknames) is, and Promise Cinderella proved for many of us that Maeda Gordon is just as talented as his famous older brother.

And I'll say too that if Suki na Hito ga Iru Koto is the only Yamaken drama you ever watch, you're doing yourself a HUGE disservice. There are so many other - better - dramas and films of his out there. (I have a whole list.)

It took me over an hour to watch it because I kept rewinding and watching it again...
I've lost track of how many times I've watched certain scenes in eps 1-5, but 6 might surpass them all...LOL
