I've heard good things about Give Away Love from another friend as well so I'll look into it once it airs. I watched the first ep of Family Honour and wasn't very engaged. Maybe I give it another chance later. Have you seen My Precious You?

I knew you were going to suggest that one! Everyone does. :) But yes, I've seen it. It was aright. I actually prefer Ojakgyo Brother to Smile, You though I enjoyed both. Haven't found an equally enjoyable family drama since. Have you seen My Daughter SeoYoung?

I like family dramas too ... when they're not too melodramatic. Any good ones you'd recommend?

I'm not a fan of the show. Haven't seen any of the versions and don't plan to. But I do work in showbizness & I know a rat when I see one. This one stinks something fierce! I hope for the sake of the fans that this isn't a total flop, amateur production, but this 'teaser' isn't doing much for alleviating my suspicions!

Not too excited that it's a melodrama because most likely it's going to end tragically ... if the writer's previous works are anything to go by. But since it's also a 50 ep family drama let's hope it's not TOO tragic! *happy dance*

I liked her a lot in Ugly Alert.
Turned out that I'd see her before - Reply 1997, My P.S. Partner ... she even had a (small) role in my favourite drama, Lovers, but I can't remember her specifically in any of these shows! I'll be keeping an eye out for her from now on. I like her brand of cute.

He's certainly nice to look at, but his acting in Ugly Alert was rather painful to watch. He appeared very stiff and uncomfortable in the skin of his character. He delivered all his lines in a very rehearsed sort way and infused with little emotion. I sensed, though, that once he passes this initial stage of inexperience he'll only get better. I look forward to it.

I'm bracing myself for 'em moms. Only reason I'm going to watch it is because I like the natural skinship in it.

You're right. Hiroko totally and inexplicably unravelled! While I watched I tried to make sense of why the writer thought going down that path was a good idea. Was there really a purpose for it? Was she trying to impart something to us ... the character's immaturity given that she's only 21, perhaps? Difficulty of communication between a hearing and non-hearing person, esp in highly stressful situations?

Somehow no matter how objectively I tried to analyze the downward spiral none of the theories I came up with held any water because the girl just started to act completely out of character. Why turn your female lead into selfish, cheating, spoilt little witch in the space of an episode?

Just goes to show they simply HAVE to follow the formula. Writing Romance 101: Couple must eventually be torn apart, by any means necessary ... even if it doesn't make a lick of sense in the context of the story you've told up to this point. That's the RULE, no exceptions! Sigh ...

You know, the main reason I ended up disliking the female lead wasn't so much because she screwed Ken (although that was a pretty f----- up too), but it was the way she totally took advantage of a vulnerable person. She knew the guy had no other way to communicate. Sure, he could write, but it wouldn't be fast enough. She completely abused her position of power & showed a severe lack of respect by rendering him helpless & pathetic. She could've listened to what he had to say THEN decide she wanted space. But to totally disregard him like that, using his disability against him ... wow! Talk about fighting dirty!

I can't stand when people behave so callously. Not to excuse him lying to her omission, but due to her methods she turned out to be a bully when she should have been a companion and a friend. #smdh

I'm sorry your TG was a bit stressed. Holidays are great for family gathering, but it's bothersome having so many different personalities to contend with, isn't it? Especially if you're the chef du jour. Were you?

What signs are your cousins? I get along the least with folks from the water element (cancer, pisces, scorpio), even though my ascendant sign is scorpio. I guess because at the end of the day I'm a natural Sagittarius. I'm open, honest, a bit naive ... whilst water folks are smoke & mirrors people. Very cunning. You can never tell when they're being sincere ... or not. Makes it difficult for me to trust them. Moreover, emotionally they're so volatile. Happy and gregarious one minute, moody & brooding the next. Wonderful people, mind you, but sometimes hard to understand, esp for a straight shooting Saggy like me.

Chinguya, I didn't write you because I was waiting for you to cool down after your Marry Him If You Dare rant. After all you did say you'd come back and answer my questions once your blood pressure returned to normal. lol

You only answered some questions. You still need to answer which dramas deserved better scoring than the 8 I gave Lie to Me. I'm so curious about that! :)

Happy to hear the pops made it back safely. Good for him. I miss my mom so much. Wish I could have her here for Christmas! :(

Sometime soon in the future I'd love to visit Cuba again. Cuba was my first international trip besides Jamaica (actually I don't really see trips to Jamaica as 'international' since it's like an extension of the US in my family ... mom being Jamaican and all). Anyway I remember turning 16 in Havana. It was so much fun ... we went salsa dancing that night at the hotel! Overall, I remember Cubans being THE nicest people I've ever encountered in all my travels. And I've been to a lot of countries.

None offered more hospitality. People were always smiling, they invited me/us into their homes, offering us dinner. I remember I kept thinking 'No, I don't want to deplete your rations for the month!' ... but no matter how I tried to politely decline they wouldn't have any of it. I spoke fluent Spanish then (in fact the trip, with my spanish class, was for language practice). Such good memories!

Well put. Read my review ... my sentiments exactly! Especially what you said about the intimacy. This is forever a beef I have with Asian dramas. All the fakeness associated with even the slightest of physical contact just gets on my last damn nerve.

Anyway, a drama that should have concluded with me smiling from ear to ear left me feeling majorly pissed off & cheated. I mean there was absolutely no reason for all that unnecessary drama except to create unnecessary drama.

I fully expected them to work things out. I was so shocked and disappointed when she slept with Ken! I mean what in the world could she have been thinking??? I loved the scenes when they were at the cabin, but the rest was just so infuriating. A perfectly good drama ruined for no reason other than to follow a damn formula. #smh

Absolutely THE biggest issue I have with Asian dramas. They constantly write themselves into a box which no one ever dares to colour outside of.

Anyway like I said before every romance fan should watch it at least once, regardless. You seemed to have enjoyed it in the same capacity as I did. First 8 eps were awesome, 10 - 12 pure BS.
