What can i say...only 4 episodes but more telling than some drama with 30 episodes. All not nessesary is cut out,…
Normally I would never add a drama like this, you know me I love my happy endings, but your mini review convinced me. And well ... I've grown to like Lee Dong-gun a great deal! :-)

Well, actually no, I haven't seen Fiction Love yet. What happened was that by the time I picked up The Greatest Love again after having it on hold for several months I had forgotten why her character annoyed me. lol So I was kinda able to see her with fresh eyes, as if seeing her for the first time. I'll probably watch Fiction Love when I get home. I've been having a trying day so far. I need something to make me laugh. I'm going to check her out in Thank You, if only for Jang Hyuk's sake. Maybe even that blasted Master's Sun too. Did I tell you that I also have a masochistic streak??? I don't even know why I'd even consider watching another Hong sister drama when they bug the heck outta me. hehe
What are you watching now? By the way, did you hear that our beloved Jung-woo has released his directorial debut? I saw the poster this morning. It's called Please Fasten your Seatbelt & it stars Doc Son!!! Apparently they're good friends, those two. Han-ssi is like a mentor to young mr. Jung. From the look of the poster it seems like he (JKH) plays a hilarious diva-ish kind of character. I can't wait to see it!
Someone changed Gong Yoo's pic. THANK YOU! That teddy bear pic was horrid! :)

Re City Hall, so I've heard! That's why I want to watch it! :) I'm looking forward to meeting Kim Sun Ah. Have heard a lot about her. And I like Cha Seung Won, he was really funny in The Greatest Love! haha

Completely forgot to say that okay Gong Hyo Jin may not be so horrible as I first thought. It's definitely the work that she's given to play with. Hoping to see her in more stuff where I can truly appreciate her talent. I also love the fact that she's plain and normal looking. Not too plastic like a lot of Hallyu starlets.

You know what I usually never pay attention to music in dramas but damn CC's OST was awesome! I love the theme song as well as 'You Are My Love'. I had the latter on replay for about 2 weeks after I watched the show. Almost drove my namjachingu up the wall! I tell you, *I* am about to be single because of my drama obsession! lol
I actually started Smile, You before CC but I didn't like Jung Kyung Ho at first glance!!! Can you believe it? lol Then I watched CC and was completely blown away by Doctor's Son! So intense! Jeez, just type of hero that's my favourite. I don't know that I'm 100% fan of Jung yet, but I like the guy. He can act and I think he's got enormous potential the more he matures. Hope he'll continue to make sensible choices around the roles he plays.
Re my job, well festivals are just a small part of it, but it's fun, I like it. They're important to get your name out there & to stay abreast of all the hot new directors. I have a shy streak about me too, but when it comes to cinema I always find something to talk about with someone! LOL Separate from the fact that I'm basically a starving artist it's one of the great joys of pursuing a profession that you love.

No worries, you're welcome. Too bad you're not able to update your account. I have javascript on my computer, but I've never experienced this problem. Have you tried updating java to see if that works? Or maybe try accessing the site from a different browser? Hope you figure it out! :)

I've seen a couple of Thai movies and I quite liked them. One of favourites is Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. It's a quiet, contemplative movie about the passage of life. Very meaningful in an understated, but elegant sort of way. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend.
I think for me the key to enjoying Thai cinema is through its movies. Maybe one day when I grow tired of Korean and Japanese dramas I'll give their tv series a go. For now though I'm swamped! lol I don't dare add any more series to my plan to watch mountain.
And yes same here, Dog & Wolf comes highly recommended by several friends. Hope it doesn't disappoint. I did like TGL, though after episode 10 I started to lose patience with the story development. Actually I put it on hold for several months before finally finishing it the other day. What saved the show for me was definitely Cha Seung Won's hilarious portrayal of Dok Go Jin. The guy was so adoringly narcissistic! LOL I loved that by the end of the show he grew to realize that the world doesn't revolve around him, but kept all his good humour. I still don't like Hong sisters, but Dok Go Jin was a good character. Gotta give 'em that! :)

I know I'm pushing my luck with the happy ending sæguks. I know they virtually don't exist in Asia, but there's no harm in asking (or wishful thinking :). I just might be surprised & get a suggestion for one that's just what I'm looking for. Such was the case with Yamada Yoiji's trilogy.
As for what's on the agenda next ... well, I'm downloading City Hall as we speak so for now it's between it and Dog & Wolf. Or it may be something totally different, I don't know. My mood dictates.
What about you?
Hope you're enjoying your vacation. I need one of those. I had a short break in July, but a proper vacation is long overdue.

Hi Betty. I'm glad you like Knife & Flower. I'm a bit confused though. Seems like all my friends who've watched it are split down the middle. Some say it's great while others say it's so so. Now I don't know whether to put it in the queue or not.
I don't think I've ever watched anything with Uhm Tæ Woong, but he seems to be a favourite of many.
What are you watching now? I recently finished The Greatest Love & Smile, You and as usual I have no clue what to watch next. It's either going to be Dog & Wolf or City Hall.
I don't need convincing. I'm going to watch this. I put it on my ptw list the day it was announced. Sounds like a good show, although I can see a tragic ending coming a mile away.

Unnie! Omo, I've missed you! I was just on my profile & the thought crossed my mind that I haven't sent a shout out to my unnie in ages!
How are you, luv? Hope all is well with the kiddos! They didn't send you to the madhouse during summer did they? hehe
I notice that you're watching Thai Lakorns now! Are they fun? I've checked out a few clips on youtube, but non grabbed my attention. I can't seem to get into them. I don't know if it's the language or what, but I wasn't feeling those that I saw. Moreover, I have so much to watch from Korea & Japan that to add more to the mix would be a crime.
Recently I finished up both The Greatest Love & Smile, You. Next I'm going to watch Time between Dog & Wolf or something Japanese. If you have any jp recs I'd love to hear them, but come to think of it you don't seem to watch a lot of Japanese stuff, do you?

Omo, I couldn't have said it better myself! You're totally right! I can tell you when first entered the world of Asian cinema & TV the culture shock was immense. Still is actually, but I've gotten more used to it now.
On the one hand it's a bit refreshing that Asians don't try to portray women as the best at everything & everyone like here in the west. I actually like the fact that men are valued for their contributions in Asian cinema. It doesn't happen very often in the west without the man having to make self-deprecating excuses for his position. But then on the other hand I get really ticked off by the shrewish, infantile roles women are reduced to playing over and over again. When they do try to step outside of that mold it's like as you said she's either a raving bitch or a boring, virtuous tomboy. Ugh.
Ironically, though, I don't identify as a feminist per se. I've long since become disenchanted with the feminist cause as it stands in my generation. I more identify with '60s and '70s feminism when women were truly fighting for real issues rather than selfish privileges (which by the way as a black woman does not extend to me) & man bashing. Having said that I am a strong proponent of justice, equity, balance and basic human rights. In general I don't have a problem with any role as long as it doesn't stereotype a group of people & reduce their chances of breaking away from that mold.

Haha ... whew, that's a relief! lol Nah, just messin'. You seem a little more mature than those folks who get mad at people for not liking their favs.
Well, I've come across a lot of beautiful Asian actresses, but when it comes to women looks alone won't cut it with me so either they were downright horrible or they didn't impress me enough with their acting ability to warrant a space on my favs list. I think Song Hye Kyo is a beautiful woman. I haven't seen her in much, but I can see why dudes would dig her. And she isn't that bad of an actress either.
But yeah like I said I don't pay that much attention to female actors. I've been watching Asian TV & cinema full time for close to a year now I still haven't found 1 single actress that really stands out for me, where I say yes she's gorgeous, I love her looks AND her acting. On my profile I name Kim Nam Joo as my fav Asian actress & I do like her, but she's just my 'acting' favourite. You know like when you have an acting president or an acting chief of staff etc. Unlike with the men folk who I objectify & lust after for just their hot bodies & gorgeous exotic features even if their acting is questionable. Hehe This happens rarely, mind you, but it happens. lol
Generally speaking though my standard for both male & female actors are pretty much the same. I like when they're nice to look at AND able to deliver good performances. Of course when it comes to the looks bit this is more true for the men than the women. LBH is at the top of this list. He's my ideal type of actor. He's hot & he's talented, so are other male stars like Yoo Ji-Tæ, Ha Jung Woo among others. Hopefully soon I'll come across a female actress who'll wow my socks off with her talent. I believe in woman power so I hope that day comes soon! :)

Interesting. I feel the exact opposite. At first I didn't like Lee Min-jung (but if I'm honest this was unfairly motivated by my irrational reaction to her marriage to LBH). The more I watched her in Smile, You though the more I liked her brand of cute. It was just that, cute ... not childish. While with your beloved it's childish, not cute. This was particularly true, for me, in Innocent Steps, my least favourite of her roles. Anyway, I'mma stop with the insults on your bride before you unfriend me! ;) lol Please don't unfriend me.

I'm surprised you didn't say Son Ye Jin. That woman seems to have an abnormally large fanbase on this site! All my guy friends have gone crazy over her. And of course I understand why. She is quite pretty. Anyway, of your biases I only know of Lee Min-jung & Eugene. Just finished watching Lee in Smile, You. I like her, but I'm still feeling a bit resentful toward her given that she married Lee Byung-hun a few weeks ago. :/

I'm excited to watch Chuno! I don't actually know when I'll watch it, but it's on my priority list. One question, though, does it end tragically? I'm still going to watch it either way, but I just need to know before hand so I can mentally prepare myself. Nothing is worse than the surprise & shock of losing a favourite character.
I've been hearing alot about Flu, but I don't really like disaster movies, esp Korean ones. I think they have a tendency to overdo things in this genre, just like they do with melodramas. I'll check out Maybe. Sounds interesting. Like a real filmmaker's film. I love those since I'm in the film biz myself & always looking for inspiration. Another good friend of mine have also convinced me to give Thank You a chance.
As for Lee Byung-hun, no matter what that bastard does I'll still love him even though I'm mad as hell that he seems to be a pessimist. Heck, even my ahjussi loves him. He was the first actor from Asia that we both really dug.
