We need some idea or hint as to how those presumably-murdered women relate to Too and/or his father. I think not…
Something I always wondered about as I was watching the show was why Lilly felt compelled to cheat on Too. For all intents and purposes, he seemed to really love her, even going as far as cuckolding himself to raise her baby with another man as his own. Some women are super selfish and will cheat on a good man for no reason, but I don't think that was the case with Lilly. I think the reason is because she knew he & his father were up to some nefarious shit. Maybe she didn't know outright what he was doing, but I think she may have had a suspicion. Also the way he always kept a watchful eye on her may suggest that he controlled many aspects of her life. So she felt trapped. If she attempted to leave, she was afraid of what he might do to her. So she stayed. I think that's why she also stayed when he purposed they raise the baby together. I also think Too really does love her & she was moved by his concern for her when she was kidnapped.
Too & his father are rich barons, the women were probably brought in to entertain the father & Too being the dutiful son cleaned up his mess for him. I also think them showing us the shotguns may indicate that Too's dad, and maybe Too himself, liked to hunt before he got sick & wheelchair-bound. That is, hunt humans. The farm is a vast piece of property & in a remote location, so it's a good place for that kind of "sport". Remember how Too took Aim down to the stables and then hunted him down with a gun in the corn field. I think that may have also happened to some of the girls.
I also wondered what Lilly's punishment would be for cheating on her husband and getting pregnant by another man. I thought it was kind of weird that she seemed to have gotten off scott free, with Too taking her back & raising the baby as his own. However, as far as I see, that is the case, ONLY if she doesn't pose a threat to his secret. Which she does now, having found out what he's been up all this time. No woman in their right mind is going to condone their husband being a serial killer & Too is not just going to let her turn him in ... so I think Too deleted Lilly.
The only people who know that Too has the camera is the detective's daughter. Orn may figure it out if she goes seeking out Lilly due to her affair with Aim. The little sister may figure out that he has it too. At which point if none of them gets the camera from Too, he will delete them all and no one will be none the wiser about what's going on on that farm.
None of the points you made are untrue, yet I really think its the constant consumption of kdrama content that…
Best comment on this topic. I totally agree! I started watching Kdramas in 2012 and became pretty burnt out a few years later because I was watching too many all at once & the repetitiveness of certain tropes & cultural norms became bothersome & tiring. I now watch very specifically chosen K-dramas and I make sure to intersperse my viewing with shows from other countries/regions to break up the monotony of viewing from just one cultural perspective. Right now I am really enjoying delving into Filippino shows and movies, which while not always the most technically well made & can be a little over the top cheesy at times, I'm really enjoying this new world of cinema & TV. Some of the cultural norms as depicted are quite novel to me, but they produce a lot of well written stories that have universal appeal. I certainly have found lots of content to match my taste. So you're absolutely right that every country/region will adhere to its own cliches & tropes, this is not unique to Korea. And probably not only due to Western engineering as more streaming platforms from the West go international. In order for viewers to not become bored or burnt out, you have to have variety in your viewing or be a bit more picky in what you chose to watch if you choose to stick to one region.
Sweet love story, glad I finally got to watch Wallace Huo. He's a hottie & I loved his acting. I don't know if…
... no happy ending. Or at least not a clear one! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Honestly, we know that life sucks and that most epic love stories don't culminate into a happy ending irl. That is EXACTLY why in the movies they should!!! But not in Asia, man. They just fucking love torturing themselves AND us! I'd like to think that eventually they end up together because there's nothing in the way stopping them now. They are both free of obligations & free to love each other. But I understand her pain & hesitation given how many times she has been disappointed. That said, I think love will prevail. I think her love for him is still there and still too strong for her not to take this chance, even with the passage of time. For now (where the movie ended) she's still hurt & being at the concert makes the pain feel raw because that's where it all started ... so she appears reluctant. But the fact that she IS there, she showed up .... that's a sign that she hasn't totally given up. There's still hope in her heart even though she's still scared. After the concert, she will see him & they will be reunited. She has never been able to let him go when she sees him; I don't think this time will be any different. So yeah, while a HEA appears no where on screen, I choose to believe that they did indeed end up together ... eventually. I fucking hate sad endings, man. Damn!
Sweet love story, glad I finally got to watch Wallace Huo. He's a hottie & I loved his acting. I don't know if his voice & laugh were dubbed here, but I loved both ... so sexy. Poignant & at times heartrending movie, but simple & beautiful in its portrayal of an epic, complicated love. My only complaint ... 7/10
Good relationship drama. Great acting from the leads & a decent exploration of the trial & error it takes to make a relationship work. Glad I watched this. Derek Ramsay is such a Chad. 7/10
Sadly this was not a good remake. Everything that made the Korean version so beloved was kind of lacking here. The leads looked nice together, but was not able to create that palpable on-screen chemistry that So Ji-sub & Han Hyo Joo had. Their romance felt flat & boring. It doesn't hit you in the feels like the K-version. Poor acting in general (the leads were tolerable, but supporting cast really fell short, a common trend in the Filippino movies I've seen so far). The filmmakers tried to put their own touch on the storyline, but failed as the pacing was choppy & disjointed. Super low budget vfx, which made the fight scenes look amateurish & horrible. Quite a bad remake overall, but loved the epilogue, which the Korean version didn't make use of, but should have. 5/10
there is also an indian version of it, didn't like much obviously bcs I'd watched this long back.
I've been wanting to watch the Indian version for so long because I loooove Randeep Hooda, but every time I checked, there was no subs. Do you know if it is available with subs now?
I suggest that if anyone warrants the comment "don't know what you're talking about", it's you. US / Western European…
A childish troll? Projection much? You're the one who commented under my post with nothing constructive but namecalling. I think the one who's "stupid" & "a childish troll" is clear & it sure ain't me, pal. Although, I know your likeminded, mentally ill peers will jump on your attack bandwagon to disagree. It is what it is, though.
I suggest that if anyone warrants the comment "don't know what you're talking about", it's you. US / Western European…
Ugh, what? That little tirade of yours made no sense, nor did it address any of the talking points I made in response to you.
But why am I not surprised? This is typical of the brain-dead, mentally ill demographic that unfortunately has taken over this site. When you have no argument, you resort to ad hominen attacks & name calling.
You're so triggered & in your feelings that you can't even write proper English and you expect me to take anything you say seriously?
If you're going to claim I don't know the "right proper sources to study this theme." Then tell us YOUR sources. Prove me wrong. Oh wait, your only counter argument was to declare "you've never been to Oslo so you can't say that!"
Very smart.
And if not MDL, what forum do you suggest this topic should be discussed on? You do realize that MDL posted on the topic, which makes it just as appropriate as any place to have this discussion? Smfh.
I am quite secure in where I get my information from. I could go dig up a bunch of articles & other sources to prove my talking points, but I'm not going to bother because it won't matter to any of you idiots on here who love listening to the sound of your own stupidity.
I suggest that if anyone warrants the comment "don't know what you're talking about", it's you. US / Western European…
How do you know that I haven't been to Oslo? Furthermore, whether one has been there or not has nothing to do with the fact that it is has been rated the #1 city in Europe for heroine overdoses. I didn't make this up. This was an expansive study that was done both in Norway & with the participation of the European commission, on drug use in the region. So what are you talking about? Am I supposed to care about your feelings on the matter rather than the factual evidence that exists? Is that what you're suggesting? Really?
No. I'm very clear on Asian culture and drug laws. I think you sound ignorant af.Look up on Wikipedia "Burning…
That's all you people love talking about, Burning Sun, Burning Sun. Without realizing that that case actually does NOT support your argument.
The men who were convicted of rape in the Burning Sun case each got about 5 years, which was later reduced by a year or so. Seungri was not convicted of rape, he was convicted of facilitating prositution, tax evasion, operating a bar without proper license & 5 other fraud related charges. He got 3+ yrs which was reduced on appeal to 1.5 yr.
Sentence reduction is a common practice in the SK judiciary. After an appeal's process, esp if the defendant expresses remorse, sentences are normally reduced. This is not exclusive to celebrities, but everyone who is convicted of a crime in Korea. Bet you didn't know that? Or perhaps you don't care because it doesn't fit your stupid narrative?
Moreover, Yoo In Ah has NOT yet been sentenced. Many many many SK celebrities have been convicted on drug crimes ... VERY FEW of them, if any in recent years, have ever set foot inside a jail cell. And even if by some misfortune he does get the 4 years, it is highly likely, based on precedence, that he too will get a sentence reduction on appeal. You people are collectively losing your shit over something that has NOT happened & is not likely to happen. The mental illness displayed in these comments is unreal. Smdh ...
You all are so over emotional & supposedly "so compassionate", you're incapable of thinking critically and rationally. Everything is about your feelings. Well, the facts don't care about your feelings and neither do I.
The way you've expressed yourself suggests you're way too dumb to grasp the essence of my initial & subsequent commentary & I'm not about to spell it out any farther for any of you. Continue stewing in your own ignorance for all I care.
馬鹿 fool 〜it is not any argument against laws in South Korea being backward that they are also backward…
The fool is the one who reads with a lack of comprehension. The point I made is that every country & region has their own way of solving problems & each system has its pros and cons. The West is certainly not doing any better when it comes to preventing drug abuse. THAT was my point. I neither endorsed nor condemned either system, just juxapositioning the two. But you didn't get it, so who is the fool, fool?
I suggest that if anyone warrants the comment "don't know what you're talking about", it's you. US / Western European…
Well, you can say what you want, but you're obviously ignorant on this particular issue, that's clear. I challenged you to go look on YouTube, type in something like drug epidemic Philedelphia or Portland, Oregan. Did you? Did you see the drug users that have taken over entire quarters of a city, bent over in drug induced stupor? Did you? You probably won't because you seem invested in your own ignorance.
The reason for the prosecutor's request was made clear. The defendant is a public figure with a lot of influence and reach. Which means he feels that 4 years is appropriate given Yoo In Ah's perceived public clout. This may seem harsh & "uncompassionate" to you, however, the prosecutor's job is to consider the interest of the state. And the interest of the state is in turn responsibility for public safety. You people who love talking about "compassion" .... sigh. I'm not even going to bother going there. You have no clue how jurisprudence works so this is a waste of time.
Not to mention the defendant has NOT been sentenced ... nor is he likely to get a 4 year sentence. But if all the nonsensical virtue signalling makes you all feel better, knock yourselves out.
I suggest that if anyone warrants the comment "don't know what you're talking about", it's you. US / Western European…
Are you really trying to suggest that there aren't American cities overrun with drug users??? Every 15 minutes there is a drug overdose, many leading to death, in a major US city. I direct your attention to places like Philly, LA & Oregon. Fentanyl is wiping out a whole generation of Americans slowly & here you are saying that it is not true. Unbelievable.
YOU absolutely don't know what the heck you're talking about. This is NEITHER hyperbole NOR exaggeration. And just goes to show exactly how ignorant you are to the drug crises taking place in the US. This may be because you don't live there, but you don't have to take my word for it. Just google or YouTube it. Everyday on the news you hear of parents or single mothers passed out cold in vehicles with their young children in the car. High as F on fentanyl, meth and/or other substances.
Also as for European cities, Oslo in Norway is the #1 capital for heroine overdoses. Drug abuse is also rampant in many other European cities.
Prosecutors all across the world make demands for sentencing on behalf of the state. It does not mean that a judge or judges will agree with the prosecutor and sentence the defendant to what they demand. You're "appalled" that they would ask for it??? That's because you're naive. It is a prosecutors job to ask for a harsh punishment & for the defendant's lawyers to counter such demands.
Every day on this site convinces me that MDL users don't seem to live in the real world. Smdh.
Stringent punishments for drug use is not unique to South Korea. It's prevalent all throughout Asia (in China, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam etc). In most Asian countries, anti-drug laws and punishments are very harsh. So everyone criticizing South Korea for being "backward" because they deal with drug issues differently than the West, clearly you don't know what you're talking about.
You are projecting western ideals on the country & it's not right. Every country/region has their own way of dealing with societal issues. This is how they choose to deal with the scourge of drug use in their country. Is it perfect? Probably not. But I don't see how decriminalizing drug use has gone any better in the West. In major cities in US the streets are overrun with zombie drug users, many of whom are dying like flies from their habit; same goes for many cities in Europe. Therefore, not sure what you people are suggesting is a "better" approach.
Furthermore, the prosecution is *requesting* a 4 year term, doesn't mean he'll get it. Most drug offenders in SK, including celebrities with drug convictions, tend to get off with suspended sentences, meaning no jail time. So let's wait and see what the judges decide before we start getting our panties in a twist. And stop saying that people who commit violent crime don't get appropriate sentences in SK. This is simply not true & sounds ignorant af. Please do a bit more reading before you all start talking nonsense.
