I wanted to watch this drama in 2007, but MBC did not subtitle it for TV broadcast. The subbers might have been intimidated by the 77 episode count. This is before DramaFever's time.
I wanted to watch it because of Lee Seo Jin, who was one of my first favorite sons from Damo. I kept away from the 77 episode drama, but I might binge watch it one day.
I bingewatched this drama in three weeks in 2016. The young actor who played Kim Tak Goo was amazing. He and the cast appeared on an interview show, and it was revealed that the actress playing the evil wife of the CEO had actually slapped the young teenager hard in the scene, because he missed his cue. He was laughing on the show because he was excited to be part of the guestlist. She was so apologetic.
not sure, if you already realized it, but the show is probably slow, coz the ending might be a cruel clifflhanger?…
I am at episode 7, and it is so slow moving, that I don't think there will be a conclusion episode. The final episode will probably end with a TO BE CONTINUED scene.
I bingewatched this entire drama in four days, completing it today. Overall, the drama has very good production values, except for the overly ambitious music editor running the loud BGM and loud singing continuously. The flashbacks finally kicked in toward the last half dozen episodes, pulling down the pace of the plot. The is story drag, but that reflects the pace of real life emotional conflicts. I watched the young Godfrey Gao, and felt that this role was a premonition of his fate in 2019, ending his potential as an actor.
I watched the first three or four episodes, then put it aside. Weeks later, I catapulted to the final episode. I started watching the drama for Joseph Zeng.
I actually didn't want the last episode to happen! I really think the 2 main leads deserve a life of their own…
I agree. They should have ended it at episode 46. The Soulan arc was contrived. the reason the Ji Chang and Soulan arcs went that far, was because of bad palace security. The Secret Force of Jifeng Pavilion should have been able to rout them out.
She had two traitor maids... or one traitor maid and one mouthy maid! Bizi purposely made it look like Mouthy…
I didn't trust Bizi after her companion died. She looked like a mole. She was probably pissed she had to do double work, and started sending secret messages to Soulan. He was another snake. When Soulan showed up, I thought "he has a hidden agenda. " Thank God, he was around for a few episodes only, unlike Egg Prince who lingered for a few dozen episodes. Ji Chang broke many eggs. If he was trying to hatch them, he was doing a bad job.
which part is not logical? the weak lungs? the size of the baby? out with it. LOL
They could have omitted the premature factor, and just say that he had a genetic disease, stemming from Tilan's respiratory issues. That doctor is really skilled.
That Tilan was an extremely inept boss. Both her maids caused such huge disasters and she was completely clueless…
She had two traitor maids... or one traitor maid and one mouthy maid! Bizi purposely made it look like Mouthy Maid put the poison in the soup, to divert the blame.
That's exactly what I was hoping for in the end too... Also, I thought they were hinting she was pregnant in the…
I was thinking along those lines, however, if she became pregnant, she would have to claim it was the Emperor's child, since she was the legal consort. That would not sit well with Jianming. If Jianming claimed paternity, Haishi would be labeled an adulteress.
I have to agree with you here. William has dead eyes to me, it's like he doesn't emote well. Someone like Chen…
Part of the problem with William Chan's performance is the directing, or lack of same. Director focused more on Haishi. When all else fails, stick the camera up against their faces. We could have done with less selfies. At some point, Emperor started looking bug-eyed at the camera, to show various emotions.
