It would be hilarious if Minister of Rites was the boss. He's the court jester.

I was very intrigued with 1 to 16. Perhaps it was because I binge watched them in three consecutive days. I can't recall most of 17 to 20. Chief Female Assassin was boring.

Will they die together, and have a romantic death song with flashbacks?

Second Prince acts like he is 12 to 15 years' old. Mother Empress hasn't been training him properly to be the next Emperor.

Princess Feng Delulu went from grand palace to slum palace. Did she figure out yet that she took a big demotion, going to Jinxiu with Prince Xia Delulu?

The drunken acting was cringing, but the writer needed an excuse to get the ML and FL together. The reunion didn't last long. FL should not blame ML for seducing her, because she literally threw herself at him. She really wanted to go "home".

Is Slimy Snake Steve working for Fang Lei's father? Has Fang waited twelve years to avenge his older daughter's pregnancy and death? The Shen and Fang family had a recent business collaboration, which would make it easier for Fang to gain the upper hand. "The enemy is in front of your nose, Shen!"

We are just at the midpoint of the drama, but this is one of the best costume dramas of the year. All the actors are performing well. The set designs are eccentric. I haven't seen so much scroll design in a drama. Is that what they call gothic? There is a lot of busywork ( ... clutter) on the palace sets. The music can become invasive at times. One wonders if the scene would be just as profound or effective without the BGM.
