FL is smart but does not think much about imminent danger in front of her. It seems it's in her character to overestimate her invincibility. She does send for help beforehand but instead of waiting, she herself boldly faces danger alone. Someone needs to force her to have a bodyguard given her recklessness in this matter. I can accept the smile (it may show her relief) and the fire saving scene considering they got out quickly.

WYZ had so much hatred and ambitions. To me his mind was a mess, and the fact that he got her pregnant showed he had little control of himself. He didn't have to kill her in the first place and all would be well. He snapped and destroyed everything he built.

At times, as parents, we can only hope we do best for our kids, doesn't mean it's right all the time, but no one can really tell either as every family is different, every child is different too. The romance in this drama was very much not the focus; it's there but it was expressed in the subtlest way, especially since the FL was a quiet person, and given her family's trauma. She was very brave though; I really like how the show consistently portrayed her.

I'm in Ep 23, and imo FL as a god who's been around for a long time, surely she knows what's trivial what's not. She apologizes because she doesn't feel emotional, she is rational and she doesn't think everything is about right or wrong, but what's proper to handle him.

Agreed. She was ok in this one. I like how the comics were made fantastical; they made this case solving drama unique!

It was quite sad yeah. He died of exhaustion, because he ran a great distance before he defeated the assassins to save LHY. His fate was foretold already that he couldn't leave the mountain or he would die.

I like his portrayal in TLI too. Each to their own. To me, his acting is quite natural both in TLI and here.

Ah I see what you mean. However I like the way CZ developed in this manner, that yes he warmed up faster because FL was BX. He was still into BS originally, and he only slowly let her go when BS told him she liked FY. He was very much within character to not falling to FL. He could only started to open up to trust her, not liking her, if she was only FL, considering what she had done.

To me, it's reasonable. They started to trust each other because they kinda need each other (scary boss). CZ already trusted her when he accepted her handshake after ZY infused the demonic power in him and she pleaded for him. So to me, once her memory was back, he trusted her fully, maybe pitied her too.

Happy ending as the characters that sacrifice their lives die in peace, no regrets.

While I'm truly sold on almost every pair's romance in this drama and love the unique color themes of the drama, I agree about the emotional immersion with perfect and elaborate hairdo and makeup. This is probably the same case for almost period idol drama I've watched. In bts, the makeup artists touch up all the hairdo and makeup after every single take to make sure it's perfect; it's a pity as some disheveled looks do make intense scenes more believable. Such elaborate styling on Bai Shuo during her travel is a constant pullout from immersing myself in their world, and in the back of my mind I cannot help wondering the number of hours spent on hairdo and makeup before the shooting. Still, as with other period idol drama, I've closed one eye for this styling believability aspect and I do get invested in each character's story.

CZ has let go of BS. He was about to return her sachet right? That's how he knew it was BX not BS that he should have kept in his heart.

For FY, he would still go because he wouldn't leave QF alone again.

I was wondering too on these small details. It's too easy to unlock lol and by the Tiger Clan girl who's been living among humans. And although it's possible for FY to come alone to Cold Spring Palace, how is it BS able to go there on her own so fast too? She grew up in human realm. It will make more sense to have TH going with her.

Let me try to provide my view based on my enjoyment - hope not too biased. This drama seems to be getting more interesting as it's progressed. The plot of the first arc in Ning An City is probably a bit of everywhere, but it's an introduction in a way; subsequent arcs have tighter plots that interest me more and the pace throughout is good for me too. Probably what I love most is the characters and their interactions. Some relationships to me is a bit difficult to imagine, but overall all relationship is possible (real life has weirder ones). I often dropped xianxia dramas halfway because the plot is getting lengthy and too draggy, and I couldn't stand a jealous 2FL/2ML that has no other purpose but possessing someone, luckily I haven't felt this way about this drama. Also, it has provided enough background and world building that let me understand, for example why the Cold Spring Palace demons beahve that way. If you find you couldn't enjoy it, it may not be your cup of tea. You should watch what you enjoy.
