The subtle differences I noticed the drama made in the main leads' personalities which I feel doesn't do their novel characters justice. Like in ep 18 SY admits that he likes XQ out of annoyance and jealousy, almost like lashing out.
In the novel, it took some time for him to decide that he would let go of the past and just free his heart to move forward. This is a very important moment in the novel because when he makes the decision, they both go all in and are absolutely not shy about it. He tells his family, the co-workers that has a crush on him, her brother, directly and unapologetically.

The scene in ep 18 of the drama presents his admission as forced due to jealousy, he also appears hot & cold, maybe even shy, which is completely out of his novel character. As a matter of fact, in the novel, even before their reunion, he proudly announced to his co-workers that he was going to marry her and showed them her photo.

The FL is also doesn't appear withdrawn from humanity and cold-hearted in terms of her job as a doctor and her interactions with her co-workers as in the novel. There, her job is just an art of science, not necessarily a profession to preserve life.
In the drama, she just appears anti-social instead. I'm a little disappointed that part of her personality was one of my favorite areas in her character development.

The drama is good but I'm a little disappointed they made changes to their personality because they removed the badass characteristics in the ML and FL that made me fall in love with the novel. Their novel characters are 10/10 and their drama characters are 8/10. My response with a spoiler tag goes into the specific differences

I did notice they still included the special forces plot too so im curious what they will do with it. Since it looks like her family is involved in business not politics this time around I wonder how they will tie his experiences in the special forces to the mom.
I would really love it if they love to see them do it though because that will highlight how diabolical she is and how kind hearted he and is his family are.

Last things for today.MYC is acting this way because that is how he has been raised. We tend to overlook the fact…
No they are already changing it to something involving SY’s father’s job.l instead. It definitely would have never passed censorship and too bad bc it would further highlight the level of abuse she experienced in that family.

I think the thing that has been holding MYC's feelings for so long is regret about being unable to do anything…
Right. There is really nothing wrong with his feelings for XQ and the mom used the last name change as a strategy to keep them apart (see how evil she is). That is because she is not good enough to be their daughter in law and she brings MYC no financial or political benefits.
The frustrating part is that he wants to keep her caged in with her. He feels better when she is closer to him and that is why he doesn’t like SY bc he shows her a world that MYC cannot.

I just caught up on the book's translations, which destroyed me!!! I take back all my frustrations for the FL, poor girl never stood a chance for normal development. I fully understand his anger towards her. Matter of fact, he is not angry enough. The real villains here are the parents.

The biggest reason I don't ship the two is because she needs to do a lot of emotional growth before dragging another person into her situation. The guy is practically her lifeline and an escape from her situation. She doesn't love herself enough to draw boundaries with her family so it's not surprising that she doesn't know what she loves about him. IT IS NOT REAL LOVE.
She needs a clinical therapist and a lot of emotional growth.
It doesn't help that this drama is very comparable to a date in the future, where the FL had emotional intelligence and drew boundaries even when it came to chasing the male lead.
The old-fashioned dutiful, noble, good child who takes abuse and keeps emotions to herself is a trope I don't want to spend an hour of my life on. Her depression makes me depressed. The only reason I haven't dropped it is because I really like the actress.

Title Doctor Cha
It's pretty obvious that he's meant to be a shitty person lol
Obvious and yet there are those saying he is a bad partner but not a bad person. I don't understand how anyone can defend him but scroll down and you will find them.

Title Doctor Cha
Seo In Ho is NOT a good PERSON OR a good PARTNER. One big example of this is his relationship with his children.

1. The biggest thing that determines this is how he has neglected his own child in order to maintain a picture-perfect image of a doctor with children who will also follow his steps in becoming a doctor. He maintained a relationship with her mother while failing to be a father figure in her life. The amount of damage he has caused her will impact her whole adulthood.
The fact that she is rejected by both sides of the family is heartbreaking to me.

2. He forces his children to do what he wants and follow his dream instead of letting them be their own individual people. He destroys his daughter's things instead of just verbally communicating his thoughts. That is emotional abuse. He should have better emotional regulation as an adult by not losing it and acting to intentionally upset her.

3. A father leads by example to his children to be a good person in the community, not only does he fail to apologize to his family for years of lies, nor does he resolve the situation as a responsible adult, he brings in his children into the lie and expects them to hide it from their mother.

4. When a transplant was needed, the teenage girl & the recently graduated out-of-college boy were first to test in and offer to be donors. He was okay with just watching them risk their health as a parent because they are not very important as he is.
