Obvious and yet there are those saying he is a bad partner but not a bad person. I don't understand how anyone can defend him but scroll down and you will find them.
Seo In Ho is NOT a good PERSON OR a good PARTNER. One big example of this is his relationship with his children.
1. The biggest thing that determines this is how he has neglected his own child in order to maintain a picture-perfect image of a doctor with children who will also follow his steps in becoming a doctor. He maintained a relationship with her mother while failing to be a father figure in her life. The amount of damage he has caused her will impact her whole adulthood. The fact that she is rejected by both sides of the family is heartbreaking to me.
2. He forces his children to do what he wants and follow his dream instead of letting them be their own individual people. He destroys his daughter's things instead of just verbally communicating his thoughts. That is emotional abuse. He should have better emotional regulation as an adult by not losing it and acting to intentionally upset her.
3. A father leads by example to his children to be a good person in the community, not only does he fail to apologize to his family for years of lies, nor does he resolve the situation as a responsible adult, he brings in his children into the lie and expects them to hide it from their mother.
4. When a transplant was needed, the teenage girl & the recently graduated out-of-college boy were first to test in and offer to be donors. He was okay with just watching them risk their health as a parent because they are not very important as he is.
That scares me too!If Seo In Ho does change for the better, then he should leave Dr. Cha alone - tend to his children…
Definitely not, maybe if their kids were younger there would be a chance of reconciliation using them an excuse but one already has a job and the other is off to college. So its the perfect opportunity of them to be free of each other. It also doesnt really seem like she has any romantic feelings for him.

That's a great point the wife and mistress contributed to his ego by serving and pampering him like an undeserving King. Honestly his saving grace is that this drama is a makjang so even when he is horrible he has some "cute" qualities about him. To me personally he is irredeemable. Infidelity definitely shouldn't be a focus in a romance comedy, I hope it doesn't become a trend.

(1) For One HORRIBLE father who lies, manipulates, intimidates, threatens, and bribes his family There is a son who refuses to understand his immoral actions and lets him know to his face. What is it they say about not meeting your heroes? The father's mask has been pulled off and the man who expected greatness and perfection out of him was a fraud and this realization helped the son find a voice to finally speak up to him. It was so satisfying to watch because I was so annoyed he couldn't speak up during the first episode's family dinner. (2) Everyone in the hospital seems to look at themselves as geniuses but they forget that the reason they do their jobs is to treat human beings. They care more about technical terms than they do about the overall well-being of the people trusting them with their lives. Doctor Cha sees the big picture and focuses on the patient before the illness. I'm curious if it's because she has a life-threatening condition herself. She is not ambition driven but purpose-driven.
(3) I don't actually understand why Doctor Choi sees herself as a victim beyond the fact that it could be a delusion. She has had plenty of opportunities to confront Dr. Cha with the truth but didn't. She should have been demanding more sense of responsibility and presence from her daughter's father years ago but didn't.

She doesnt respect her elders and that is a big issues. I am constantly annoyed by older generations shitting on Gen Z because they think they are superior for living longer. However the way she talks to someone the same age as her parents makes me uncomfortable. She has no excuses.

I absolutely agree and he is an adult so he is fully responsible for his actions as an adult but I partially blame his mother for why he is unable to resolve issues in a mature manner. He should have told his family about his second family but the his mother constantly shields him from any difficult life choices and makes the decision for him. This is why he is so infantile and tbh doctors like him scare me because sure he is a genius but means nothing to me if you cant connect with me and my struggles as an adult. The mind and body are connected as one.
So many things to like and dislike about this drama Its conflicting to say whether I enjoyed it or not. I liked the realism of marriages back then and the frustrating limitations women went through as a result of the traditional laws. The portrayal of domestic abuse was really well done and resolved in a realistic and satisfactory way. She was disgraced but at least she was free.
One of the major issues I had with this drama was that It didn't know how to promote feminism without portraying a majority of its male characters as cartoonish and fools to a point where it became borderline misandrist. Aside from the Male lead who was too perfect in a very 2D way, and possibly the King/Lord. The rest of the princes were just portrayed to be idiotic and highly disrespected by their female partners.
The relationship between the women was amazing to watch and refreshing in a historical drama but there was also very little character development from any of the characters which made it less satisfying to watch.
The lead couple didn't have chemistry mostly due to the fact that she is painfully young and sheltered. It was uncomfortable to watch him fall in love with someone forced to be with him and constantly dreaming, and wishing to leave and go back home to her family.
This drama is not toxic enough but I hope she bangs the motorcycle professor before she signs divorce papers. Then she packs up her things and moves to the hometown cha cha cha village with her mother to open up her own family practice. The kids can visit when they miss her but they have another parent to watch over them.
