Phob's most admirable charateristics were his integrity, human dignity, autonomy and his refusal to be a subject. That scene was a spit in the face of everything he has been fighting for and made his efforts seem pointless.
And why? Because the idiot sick Thai screenwriters rather fuck up a good character development than letting their obsession go that everyone must lick the boots of their loved one's parents and family, no matter how utter shit that parent and family are.

It is actually easy to read from the show even in the first episode. When Lin Yan is injured when they are in the battlefield and he gives some hints about his past, especially mentioning kids are not always harmless, it strongly indicates he may live a double life as well. I think it is more like he plans to take his uncle down who is likely to be responsible for the death of his parents.

I am genuinely pissed with this finale btw, but apparently I am in a minority. Almost everyone else is gushing, but I think it was slackly written, mostly implausible, with a ridiculous twist and plenty of out-of-character behaviour, this one from Phob in particular. Spectacularly weaker than the rest of the epiodes.
Did the sub titles go out for everyone when Tinn visits his dd and Chat in jail?
Yes, missing. subs. Chat asks Thin if he could help him and Vasin out of prison. Vasin says no need, they own up for what they did. And Thin tells them Phob is dead.
