Alright so what I take from this is a few things... Manga story isn't finished yet so there's no way of knowing…
I'm currently not watching a ton of airing BLs.
I'm here for Tharntype season 2 (Cause its Mew and Gulf) and ''I Told the Sunset about you'' which has honestly been very high quality and would recommend it. That's all of the BL I'm watching currently besides this.
Yknow here's the part where I'm gonna recommend some whacky series but trust me on this one. Discipline Z: Vampire. This series has me shook. They actually have foreign characters interacting with each other and its the dumbest thing ever I love it. There's a Korean gay character who I already love after 1 episode, he's a gamer and cute. Some vampire dude too I guess. Just watch it for the chaos I have no idea what they're gonna do but I'm enjoying every second of this beautiful mess for now.
Thanks for enlightening me! Appreciated all replies. And if I'm a troll I would be the cutest troll ever ever ever…
Hm I know you aren't a troll. First jdrama right? The shows you're watching are mostly modern BLs from other countries so its only logical you would be a bit surprised at the different hairstyles in Japanese dramas.
I think some might perceive the comment as looking down on Japanese hairstyles the way it was written which is why a user asked about it. I personally didn't even notice anything cause their hairstyles look pretty normal to me but I guess it is different from something like Mr.Heart or My Day. To me all different countries hairstyles carry their own charms.
Here is me praising all of them: Like Thai hairstyles and Korean hairstyles are often very fluffy while Chinese hairstyles can have beautiful shorter cut hair. I love the one where they do a nice combover part with just a few strands of hair left in the front (Personally I also love their long Wuxia/Xianxia hair though). Pinoy hairstyles are often very short which gives this cool masculine vibe. Japanese hairstyles are usually grown slightly longer which can give them the best looking bangs in the world.
According to the Adam uni info from Machida's radio talkshow"Just listend to the radio interview. Machida said…
Alright so what I take from this is a few things...
Manga story isn't finished yet so there's no way of knowing what he exactly means by difference. However... I think Machida would've understood the need of fans for the couple to end up together. So at this point I 100% believe in a happy end.
We won't get a season two but we gotta think about longterm influences on Japanese BL too. If this manga adaptation does well commercially then it'll mean more chances at future similar BL projects. Besides.. sequels may seem like a good idea but as an Ossans Love fan (Maki and Haruta fan to be specific) I can tell you they don't always give you the results you want.
I don't understand why Tsuga fell for that delivery dude? They only met once and well now twice and that Tusga…
Tsuge definitely has some issues but if it's like in the manga they'll give him a bit of a better image by the end of the drama. They definitely haven't gotten the amount of development the main couple gets though so don't get too invested in it.
So in defence of Tsuge and his part of the story. You gotta imagine this dude likely only has contact with Adachi and his own family. He is pretty socially isolated from my perspective. Every person has their own type and he likely just likes softboy tsundere types but didn't know it. He just kinda gave up on serious dating for years and likely thought he'd die single. His weird behaviour (besides just the manga reactions) is definitely a product of being stuck in a house alone for likely a decade.
I personally enjoy the Tsuge scenes for the sheer chaos and cat. I'm not really looking at them expecting deeper emotional stuff, that's what the main couple is for.
I kinda am intringued on why Japanese have a different sense of hair style? Is it because the weather is cold,…
Alright I know I already said its based on the manga hairstyles but I'll give a slightly longer explanation comparing with other Asian countries. Also the development of styles.
First this is how things used to be... these guys were the celebrities of their days. So you may or may not have heard of a kpop group called Super Junior (just an example). Please look up their pictures from around 2006. You'll notice that their style is very different from current styles in Korea. Very manga-like hair as one could call it.
Now another country like Taiwan for example, please look up pictures for the F4 band (Older Taiwanese band from early 2000s). You'll notice the hair is also longer and, at times, very manga-like too.
Now for Japan the best example is probably Arashi around 2006. Very manga-style hair. So what is up with all this? Well, at that time the longer hairstyles and/or ''manga-styles'' were just very popular around Asia for boybands/celebrity young guys.
Now back to 2020, what has changed? Well if we look at Korea obviously the hairstyles are very different like with BTS or EXO. Hair is kept shorter, fluffier and sometimes a few curls are added for volume. In Taiwan 2020? Hair is much shorter for famous guys.
So what about Japan? I think Japan did stick with the manga-styles the longest, mayby cause anime/manga is such an influence on youth in Japan. Now if we look at Arashi in 2020 you'll notice their much shorter hairstyles. Its still different from kpop-hairstyles but definitely changed. Also other groups like Sixtones don't do the manga-hairstyles anymore.
The thing is though... Manga is also adapting to new styles and modern manga just change hairstyles to what is popular. So it'll still be a bit of a specific-looking hairstyle (I like the manga-hairstyles though, its cute) but it'll be passeable for modern style. Dramas will often try to use hairstyles from the manga if its a realistic choice. So small hairstyle changes like those in Cherry Magic! Would've definitely been approved. Its not like they have to dye the hair orange or something like that.
All in all I like their hair for the drama. I think some Japanese hairstyles for men are not for everyone considering its still often a bit more spiky or different from what people outside of Japan are used to but its fun. It'd be boring if every country did the same hairstyles for guys. There is definitely work put into those hairstyles you are seeing but also remember that its made with a Japanese audience in mind. They don't care that international viewers might for example prefer a different style.
Has anyone read the manga who can comment on how accurately the drama is following it? What I love about this…
Ok spoiler alert for manga here then. So first 2 English volumes are pretty wholesome.
About the characters in the manga: Kurosawa is is slightly more open about his intentions in the manga which does result in a few fantasies that the drama would likely not depict the same. Most of his fantasies are just the general cute-clothes ones though. It kinda doesn't help that Fujisaki is the most different character of them all. In the manga she's a massive fujoshi. Basically resulting in some fantasies from her about Kurosawa and Adachi shirtless together. After that Adachi has avoided touching her so I don't think it was that big of a deal since its short. Adachi is the least changed in my opinion. The actor really tries to be the manga-version of his character.
The physical romance in the manga: So up till the part I've read Kurosawa has not forced himself upon Adachi. I don't think he will either, its not the style of the manga to do that. One of the biggest moments up till now is gonna come up in ep 6 too which is when he falls ontop of Adachi. He'll have some internal moral conflicts (cause he did just fall on top of his crush) but obviously he cares more about the sick Adachi. Now in the manga up till now there have been no real bed scenes in case you're worried about that. So he does eventually kiss Adachi but kinda similar to the ep 3 scene he kinda does it based on the mood and Adachi goes along. We haven't really gotten further than that between Kurosawa and Adachi. Its mostly cutesy stuff like shopping together, eating together and all that.
I also think the manga mixed some order events of the manga but I think it's turning out fine.I think the biggest…
About Tsuge.. I believe I read in some comment here that Tsuge doesn't get delivery dude as his delivery dude anymore. He misses him and goes out to look for him. This is gonna be in the park where he found Udon the cat. So yeahhhh kinda stalkery.
I don't know which ones you are referring too particularly, but some of the them are quite good in spite of their…
It might be that the manga-influences aren't doing it for you. The reactions of Adachi and Tsuge to surprises are very typical of that and can make the story seem less realistic. I think its cute but I've been watching anime for the longest time so am used to it.
It could also be the age group. Thai and Pinoy BLs tend to cast very young male actors while Japanese BLs will go for older experienced actors. In Japanese BLs this results in much less playful behaviour in the story like you'll see in Thai/Pinoy BLs with their young cast.
Yeah i get what you mean. Really been enjoying the peaceful comment section lol. However, i do wanna add that…
There's a small number of BL watchers that checks out anything BL from Japan (me included) so they were gonna get that anyway. Most BL fans will only check out very hyped series though and most hyped series are from Thailand. This series has spread through the BL community but lack of accessibility for English viewers is definitely a problem since Thai BL has built up a international fanbase that is aware of what to expect and Japan hasn't stopped to consider them. Resulting in the situation we have now where viewers have to wait for unofficial fansubbed versions.
The thing is... They do things for promotion but its all in Japanese so international fans are left to hopefully find a translator for it. There's interviews of the actors in magazines/news papers, there's live videos they do and the BTS will release with the DVD. All of these are done with Japanese audiences in mind so you'll often encounter region-locks or just the language barrier. They will likely have tv appearances at some point but its unlikely we'd know unless a Japanese viewer posted the clip.
About the fanservice.. They don't really do that. Promotion is usually done quite seriously with just asking questions by fans and actors won't be doing flirty stuff unless its for a short joke or something. Its usually avoided in general as being professional is seen as more important. I think if the actors were forced into a Thai way of BL filming they'd have a culture shock. Cause I really can't see them doing sweet couple-stuff in front of a camera just to sell the series like many Thai BLs will do.
Yeah they both do modelling. Machida:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdSEqorsrwQAkaso:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBMNzGVTtCI
Yeah I posted them before too but I think these are my faves for the both of them. I think I got attached to the characters pretty quickly. I remember translating the trailer for ep 1 on here back when we were still at a few dozen comments. Back then I was already on team Kurosawa (dude just looks good in suit) but hadn't fully seen the cuteness of Adachi yet xD
You said that right!!!! How will we even survive until the end?
Alright I've studied the evidence and do conclude that the scene will very likely be a fantasy of Kurosawa. It likely happens after Adachi says Kurosawa can stay with him in his home.
I'm here for Tharntype season 2 (Cause its Mew and Gulf) and ''I Told the Sunset about you'' which has honestly been very high quality and would recommend it. That's all of the BL I'm watching currently besides this.
