Do you remember Justice in the dark ? Only 8 episode were aired and it stayed unfinished for years and suddenly in 2024 or 2025 22 others episodes followed.
Them being in love is literally the main plot of the story. It's not the kind of trope where two friends struggle…
That’s also why his thirst for revenge and his hatred fizzled out as soon as he learned about Pio's innocence and the grief Pio felt at his disappearance and death, despite knowing who the real culprit is. What was making him suffer so much was thinking that Pio betrayed his trust and love and wanted him gone.
Anyone who says love isn’t the focus of the drama or that it’s irrelevant clearly isn’t listening to Jeongyo’s…
And Pio answered it in his shy and restrained way when he said "You did it again, you pulled me out of my despair...Whenever I was lost in music, you were always there". Light and Hope

I also think that it’s pretty logical that people are discussing this aspect so much. Not only their bond is the heart of the drama and the reason people are fascinated by it, but the nature of their bond is left to the interpretation of the audience, it's ambiguous and there is a lot of layers to it and a lot to unravel and analyze so of course, people are gonna talk about it. If their relationship was clearly defined, nobody would think about it that much.
I find that super interesting to see all the little new things people notice everyday and all their analyzis about it, whether I agree or not. This drama is deep.
In Revenged love and others dramas you talked about, of course it would change everything about the plot if they weren’t a couple but either way, there wouldn’t be much discussion about it cuz there is no uncertainty and no complexity in the nature of their relationship.
Also, there were much more of these discussions you expected before the two last episodes. People were especially arguing about these regarding Pio's character. But at some point, everything that could be said about it was discussed.

It’s hard to qualify what the FL had going on with one the main lead as romance even if she had feelings for him, when there are a lot of hints of romance between the two MLs. But I think they just put this tag for the FL actually. If not, they would have probably put the tag BL or LGBT...

I agree about the jealousy and exclusivity part. Also, personally, I don’t believe in friends being passionate, intense and obsessive towards each others.
But when a friend betray you, even if they cease to be a friend, that doesn’t mean they cease immediatly to be loved too. It can take time to grieve z friendship and get over it if you really cared about them. For some people, friends are the family you choose and a friendship breakup is as hard to deal with as it is for a couple breakup.

Seeing how Jeongyo reverted back to his 17yo former self in front of the hospital after he learned the truth and how Pio went from being so sulky, then crying, then laughing and being happy and relaxed with him in the span of a few minutes in ep.12, I don’t think they’re so different now despite everything that happened to them, even if they’re more mature...

The trailer looks fire, hope the drama won’t disappoint.
