This reminds me of Yoo Ah In who I’ve been worried about since his “drug allegations” came out. I hope he’s getting the support he needs, South Korean culture is in general very unforgiving towards anything deemed as imperfect. I feel sorry for entertainers who have to live up to an unrealistic level of perfection.
Why did Du Xiaosu say yes to Yuzheng in the end? What changed? What happened to the parallel lines which were destined to never meet? Very sloppy writing. I understand this is based on a book by Fei Wo Si Cun, I know she’s the queen of angst but at least her stories make sense. The drama writers are obviously to blame, it’s such a shame because the acting is good in this.
Female lead has a personality transplant in the 9 or so episodes leading up to the finale. Her behaviour is irrational and inexplicable. I was so annoyed and this drama as a whole felt sliced and diced, transitioning is choppy and there’s a lot of unexplained plot progression. I just ended up watching for the male lead. I had to ffwd a lot in the final 10 episodes
Had to drop this at episode 20. It comes off as a Fan Bing Bing Vanity project. The acting is mediocre all round and for such a huge budget it’s a pity it’s not more authentic. It’s a frivolous portrayal of Wu Zetian, she was supposed to be intelligent? You wouldn’t know it from this depiction… disappointing.
I enjoyed this because of the two lead couples, the other side plots dragged a lot and I fast forwarded all of them. I only watched this for the male lead, he played the emperor in Legend of Zhen Huan and I wanted to see how he would pull this role off given the age gap and story premise. It was good, only wish the script was tighter.
Hi. I discovered RUYI and Chinese Dramas during Covid. It has taken over my life as a great new hobby. I have…
Try the Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan, it’s sublime( in my opinion) watch the long version with 76 episodes, you won’t regret it. That’s if you haven’t already watched it Ofcourse
Really great pairing of the lead couple, I wasn't expecting it to work so well. Zhao Lu Si is a charming actress she's so natural and bubbly but can also pull off emotional scenes very well. I loved the interactions between the lead pair. Well worth a watch.
