Thank you for this relevant article. Recently I've been bored with Kdramas so I'm watching Thai Dramas and Turkish Dramas, I also love Chinese Dramas. I think the key is diversity, try and watch other country's dramas and other genres, there are so many exciting dramas out there, I watch Spanish telenovelas and Bollywood series as well. I've got so many K Dramas I still need to watch, so I always try to watch a wide range of dramas from other countries so that I don't get disenchanted with my first love.
From my general observation the South Korean entertainment industry is rather harsh regarding celebrities private lives; there appears to be disapproval when a celebrity is dating and the celebrities go to great lengths to keep their relationships very secret. This makes me think of the drama "The Greatest Love", I think that was more fact than fiction.
In light of the above, it's a crying shame that GHS decided to air her private affairs in public.
I enjoyed this a fair bit, it was entertaining. The historical aspects are fascinating and engaging and the romance is epic. I especially enjoyed the depiction of their daily lives as well as the politics of the day. Male lead is excellent and has a complete character arc and development. I found female lead a tad too comical to the point that for me she didn't deliver very good emotional scenes so sometimes her interactions with the male lead came across as stilted. However, overall this is a very unique and entertaining Lakorn.
I dropped this after 4 episodes. It annoys me to no end that FL constantly drops English words or modern slangs.…
Thanks so much for your observation, I feel exactly the same way. I'm on episode 5 and finding her a bit tiresome, as she's coming from the future you'd expect her to be a bit more savvy and sensitive to the era and her circumstances.
Ok, my foray into Lakorn is relatively recent so I'm still discovering Thai actors, which brings me to my point: Ken is wonderful in this and I can tell immediately that he's a great actor and set to be one of my favourites. I can't say the same for Esther unfortunately , I didn't enjoy the majority of her performance; she came across a tad unpleasant when she was supposed to be conveying a strong will ( I just got prideful arrogance) I think the character was not very well written because there are several occasions where she lacked common social courtesy in her disregard for the discomfort of third parties. She was too concerned with her dislike of Anawat to the exclusion of logic and her own character development. The final straw for me is the fact that she failed to articulate her love for him to him, right up to the end, she was so lukewarm and it's a shame because Ken is a top class actor, he deserved someone with better skills.
The drama is very good, I love the ambience, the costumes, the jazzy music, the overall vibe is just great; I'm definitely going to watch some more older lakorns.
despite the passionate and angsty premise of this Lakorn, it's surprisingly chaste; Something I've noticed with Thai Dramas, they talk a good game, but the skinship rarely lives up to the talk.
This Lakorn had a messy beginning and a crazy premise, the great acting of the two leads kept me watching until the plot and screenplay got very interesting around episode 8. Thereafter the show held its own and ended up being quite a good watch.
