Then i saw ppl hating SYM even more and calling her names (like b*tch/ stupid) for leaving the capital city at night????? even though she already explained she didn't want to leave in the morning, worried her family would prevent her to go. She just wanted to withdraw for a while to Jiangnan city, to sort out her feelings, rather than facing NH's pursue and ends up hurting his feelings again and again. Glad that at least her father understands her conflicting heart and her intention for leaving, when most of the audiences cannot.
I can understand ppl's frustration on her slow character development, but hating her for refusing ML, to have her own choice, to just move on from NH/LSL and focus on how the next iconic scenes gonna play out?? I cannot.
Oh but did you notice that scene after NH and his mother left the late empress' room, the emperor said to the eunuch "my son is none concern for you," after the eunuch kinda provoke him that NH still has power despite being stripped off his prince title.. now the eunuch seems fishy, he has been provoking emperor's thought quietly when it comes to NH only..

Massive negative hot searches pouring on LYN started from the 2nd day of airing mostly about his looks, his posture, that he has so much demands to the production team, used power abuse to change the script from an FL centric to Double Leads drama and to restrict her dub herself when we all know FL never used her real voice in her entire career for historical dramas.. FL's fans wanted the FL to be the only center of the story, as it's her comeback to costume dramas after 7 years of hiatus. Many ppl believed these slanders bcs he was also attacked with same prejudice during TSOPG filming. Massive clips of LYN's character (Ning Yuanzhou) face-changed using AI with other actors', while still using his body and voice, the disrespect on LYN was on another level.
But AJTL is still one of the most successful cdramas in 2023 with average views of +50M per episode, LYN also gained so many new fans (+1M) for his portrayal of Ning Yuanzhou, the platform and production team especially the scriptwriter herself also gave high recognition to LYN for his cooperation and achievements. For me, it's still LYN's best drama bcs the story is just so soo good and Ning Yuanzhou is iconic.
It's sad when the director comes to defend his work when all it needs from the viewers part is just some patience…

I must point out that even though SYM got more mad at NH for hiding his identity as LSL, she actually still worried and tried to warn him when she saw CGH's army came to catch him. SYM also tried to cover his identity in front of CGH, and explained to ShanHu & ALong that NH said harsh thing when disbanding Can Jiang Yue bcs he didn't want them to risk their life, this time she didn't accuse him for betraying his comrades. SYM has definitely soften to NH after knowing he's LSL, but she's also in severe denial. Director Guo Hu today updated a long post about SYM and NH, and he said smth like it's intentional to make SYM as a character who has prejudice (the opposite of NH who's the object of gaze and prejudice itself), as she will also have moments of great inner struggle and character growth in later part. The native title of this drama is Shujuan Yimeng (literally means Yimeng Inside the Book), i believe she'll be given the character development, the redemption arc we all hope for.

Actually when this drama first announced, the FL was described as a girl who's lethargic and jst wanted to lay flat with life (but still not giving up her career). And that description is consistent bcs in ep 1 we saw how she went from a child actor, graduated from good acting academy, but never rly had a breakthrough in her career after many years and thus she's not ambitious and just goes along with every acting opportunity she got. That's why she seems to enjoy the life in the script where she can be rich and served by many without stressing over her career, as long as she can stay away from the cliche scenes and her doomed ending. So she's not a perfect FL with brilliant mind and tolerance, she's lethargic, anti-romantic, and indifferent to her own real life both in modern world and within the script. When her sister said that she never rly trying to live in that "place" and learn to know the ppl around her, i feel like it hits FL not only as Song Yimeng, but also Song Xiaoyu in modern world.

And SYM also tried to save him (as LSL) several times, even though smtms the situation is dangerous like that one where she almost got killed by CGH's sword.
