There always seems to be confusion when translating gender into English which surprises me given the brilliance in translating everything else. I can’t do any of it!

I thought he was great in My Journey to You, and I never could forget him from Maiden Holmes … Maybe he flourishes under certain types of directors? Or I often wonder if the chemistry of actors on each set affects performances. But of course, a professional will learn consistency no matter what. To me, his acting seems comparable to many of the other idol actors, and I like him a lot but won’t go crazy over anybody so as not to give myself a heart attack at my age, ha!

You have named the reason I also didn’t watch Our Interpreter. Victoria Song is a beautiful actress but makes me uncomfortable in everything she is in. To me, she seems angry all the time and makes me feel I’m going to get into trouble with the teacher (her). And I was a teacher all my adult life, haha. I don’t think anyone was ever afraid of me, though, at least I hope not.

It’s the all caps that did it. When I see all caps, I panic even if you say FREE ICE CREAM NEXT BLOCK DOWN. I would be sure a killer monster awaited and turn around. 😊

Yes, Chen Xing Xu is a favorite of mine; I have half-kiddingly wondered if they are trying to get him back for Goodbye My Princess. 🥺I’m joking, but are they? 😩 What possible reason can there be for this ending? Watch now: Will someone from the production come out and tell us we have it wrong; the final scene is real? It will be hard to believe.

It was a complete betrayal of the trust viewers have between production promises and actual results. This was not the drama I signed up for!

I definitely don’t want quantum physics in my chinese dramas, haha. Yes, the irony is not lost on me that the series began with ML hallucinations only to end with FL hallucinations. I wonder if producers and directors read scripts, see bad endings, shrug their shoulders and say something like, “Well, death and disappointment are a part of life; viewers will acknowledge this and grow” or some such crap. If I want to grow, I will read Shakespeare and be guaranteed a sad ending. I watch cdramas to escape and bring light to my days. This one did not despite having one of the most charming ML boyfriend characters and a decent, loyal FL. I’ll get over it, but A Beautiful Lie has added to my ever growing list of reasons to find another hobby. 😔

@xmag Your explanation makes perfect sense and explains why the final meeting in the plaza is so short and without explanations or a more warm and extended (like a clip of a “real” wedding) meeting. It is also a mean, horrible trick to play on the viewers who watched this show all the way through. At least a series like Kill Me Love Me gives plenty of foreshadowing that a SE is possible, but here we don’t get a clue. I’m angry. This drama should be renamed A Dirty Trick.

Yes, the Crown Prince’s love for her was portrayed so sincerely that it made me not hate the character despite all the terrible things he did. It made me think there was some good left in his heart; he was not a mere one-dimensional villain. Of course, this is a sign of excellent writing, acting, and direction which makes me value the series even more.

I ALWAYS worry about this and have for years. Just saw a scene with Chen Xing Xu in A Beautiful Lie with his breath flowing like cigarette smoke. Can they not afford heat?! I think we have no idea what these beautiful actors go through. 😢

That emperor or whatever he is is stealing the show, imo. He’s not just good looking but has the kind of sexy magnetism that is a gift.🥳 I can’t take my eyes off him when he’s on the screen. 🤭
