Title Cutie Pie
I don't get it. I don't get why Kuea hesitated about talking to any of the people it was important to talk to…
I completely get you. After ep 9 (the only episode where I personally felt there was a bit of progress on the genuine communication/trust building side), I was really hoping Nu-Kuea would feel safe/comfortable/confident enough to try and deal with this issue differently. The fact that he not only did not say anything about the issue, but also felt compelled to keep the angel act with Lian, when he was clearly feeling terrible inside, was truly the most terrible and uncomfortable thing to watch. It shoved all the ep 9 breadcrumbs of progress (which were already not much) to the bin, and highlighted even more all the unhealthy dynamics going on in Lian and Kuea's relationship since the beginning: among others, that Kuea doesn't seem to know how to deal with Lian other than by faking an angel persona, or thinks his best shot at dealing with Lian is faking such persona, which is way enough of a reason for them to separate ; and that Lian exerts too much domination in the relationship and doesn't respect Kuea's space/boundaries. Syn and Nuea were indeed my oasis of "normalcy" and healthiness during this ep but even that cannot save a sinking ship...
