Exactly my thoughts, I don’t even remember the last time I finished a xianxia but I am thoroughly enjoying The Longest Promise. This one feels like xianxia for adults, like you get the xianxia world and setting as well as some of the tropes but it’s logical and interesting. Not to mention the acting

I really like how they handled A Yuan’s love line, it just makes so much more sense than in the book where Zhu Yan basically first kills Shi Ying only then to realise she loves him lol i think that this drama adaptation is much better and more logical than the original novel

On the contrary, having longer breaks between episodes (+ promotional activities, of course) normally allows a drama to gain new viewers. Unfortunately, this drama not only haven’t been promoted by the platform in any way at all, they are also tempering with its heat index (it gets stuck for about 2 hours every day after the new episodes are out).
Tencent Youtube has also been ignoring the drama, and it looks like they just want to be done with it as soon as possible. Never seen them treat a bid drama like that which is apparently happening due to the infighting in Tencent.
It’s a bit sad cause this is the best xianxia I have seen in a very long time. With a little bit of promo it would have been even bigger, but many people don’t even know it’s airing yet since again there’s no promo

If any xianxia deserves to be on TV, it’s this one

For the youth memories he had to master bejijing accent , so his mouth moves totally differently there. I had to get used to see him speak again as himself in interviews after watching The Youth Memories cause he sounds nothing like his character there, really amazing
