Your review is absolutely spot on!! This is exactly how I felt about the show. I even wrote a shorter comment saying almost the same thing. It’s such a disappointment that they leaned into unnecessary angst and the whole parents angle when there was so much potential to explore the relationship in more meaningful ways. I honestly don’t understand why Kdramas keep doing this. I really thought newer shows were moving past this trope (and I had higher hopes especially since this is the same actor from Hometown Cha Cha Cha) but clearly not. Such a letdown. Sigh.
Ah another potential wasted! Why do they have to insert the breakup trope everywhere? It was amazing till episode 7, with a unique story, amazing acting, great music and cinematography. But then they HAD to make it all more complicated than it already was.
I can think of at least 10 different ways they could have taken the story forward easily. It was so fresh, and they could have explored the couple's story together a lot more. There was absolutely no need to keep breaking them up.
And okay, let me give them the benefit of the doubt and pass the first breakup. But what was the need for the second one where she stood him up? Like, come on. It was complicated for completely unnecessary reasons.
They could have also made things so much more funny with the translation aspect. But it was just frustrating to watch. I ended up fast-forwarding the last few episodes. The ending was fine, but not something memorable. And the unnecessary twists in the last episode on top of everything else? First, I honestly do not think they needed to keep the parents alive. Isn't that worse for her? And second, if they did want to go that route, they should have brought it up around episode 10 so we could actually see both of them go through it together.
Very disappointed after episode 7, honestly. I really wanted to love this one. The first half was so good that I will still give it a 7/10.
All of this is, of course, a personal opinion. I have seen many people in the comments loving this part too, so to each their own. But anyone else who is fed up with this trope might relate to this review.

Hahaha, the passport bit got me xD. Legit, all these loopholes! I know it's fiction, but I've seen stories where everything is tied together so perfectly. They could’ve attempted to do the same here.
Overall, it was a fun watch, but the ending completely ruined it for me. They could have easily gone with a more believable route, like her meeting someone new who had the same face, and a fresh spark forming between them. That would have made sense and has worked well in plenty of dramas. But no, they had to make the actual King appear out of nowhere, and when asked how he got here, he just goes, 'It's a secret'? Like seriously? That's not mysterious, that's just lazy, half-baked writing. The ending single handedly tanked the whole show for me.
Special shoutout to the heartfelt scene with Sun Jae and Halmeoni, i literally shed a tear when Sun Jae started crying 🥹 it didn't feel like him acting honestly, it felt soo real! Byeon Woo-seok really is an amazing actor. And also the ring at the end! How beautifully they revealed it, this drama is lovely indeed! ♥️♥️♥️

Hahah we all know it's fiction, but there's a logical course to how a fiction story flows aswell. Infact, the beauty of time travel stories comes out when they tie such lose ends
The story has turned rather weird now lol, I mean we all were worried how they are gonna fill in the rest of the episodes post episode 12, now I'm worries how are they gonna wrap it up? Doesn't seem like something that could be done in 2 episodes.. will it be rushed through? Yea it truly is hear breaking, but also I guess it's kinda the boon of time travel, u can't ever really fix things completely, and that's what all her attempts have told her soo far. Let's hope this time we get a happy endings for them ~

Same! I didn't expect people to not like this episode hahhaha I loved how twisty it got! I mean none of us expected this and that's sign of great writing.. i always get bored as soon as I can predict a story, especially a time loop one.. there was no other way for them to keep this as interesting at ep13 i feel, can't wait to see how it all turns out now ~
