It's not her stepmother's brother. It's her uncle's wife's brother. For example, I'm related to my uncle's wife (aunt by marriage) but I am in no way or form related to her relatives. Her parents are not my grandparents and her siblings are not my aunt or uncle.

Not likely. That would still make the ML and FL first cousins.

They are actually not related but calling 'uncle' out of respect. They are allowed to marry from a modern perspective. He is like your uncle's wife's brother.

That's interesting how they do the children placement here. I'm Chinese and we don't mix genders. Brother will be 1st gege, 2nd gege, 3rd gege etc. and sisters will be 1 jeje. 2 jeje, 3 jeje etc.

Yup. Her mother is a truly horrible person to commit suicide in the house and let her discover her body. So despicable to do that to her teenage daughter and destroyed her relationship with the remaining parent.

Same. Not sure how he would be able to tolerate a daughter who is not his blood to be the legitimate daughter and not treat her badly.

Exactly. She totally screwed up her daughter and also her relationship with the dad. Good thing she was strong and resilient. If I was in her position, I would probably need therapy for the rest of my life.

I think her mom is worse than her dad. How could she traumatized her teenage daughter like that. Committed suicide in her own home so she can find her body! That's beyond horrible. If she wants to die, go and jump in a lake or something.

Oh yes you're right. Her kid character was totally different from the girl in the Double when she was accused of causing the miscarriage. She refused to admit wrong and defiant to her father. She was the one to refuse to come back to the family whereas the girl in the Double was sent away and abandoned. Yes totally different characters. She didn't come back for revenge.

I have never found the FL particularly hateful and thought all those unnecessary hate for her was uncalled for. Her main problem was she didn't want to get married due to a deep trauma that happened in her life. She is smart, loyal and not a pushover. After they got back together around episode 12, they were very supportive and trust each other. All 6 characters grew quite a bit and learned to change and think about the others needs. I was satisfied with the character development and it was a decent watch. Bonus point for finally seeing the FL take the initiative to propose to the ML. She also sincerely apologized for her behaviour and regret for the last 5 years. It felt so good to finally see a FL do that because I've always felt that in all the recent dramas, the love was so uneven, that the MLs seems to love the FLs way more. Here I can see that their love were mutual.

I love the last 2 episodes. A very strong finish and it makes me forgive/forget some of the unpleasantness in the beginning. I'll put the rest in spoiler.

No they started dating very early, like episode 12 and they have been very supportive and helping each other grow and facing all the on-going issues with the show and FL's personal issues together.
