That's obvious since they were husband and wife. I, for one am glad she was not his lover and looks like she might have some affection for him but it was not deep. She doesn't seem like she was in love with him in present time.

I'm all caught up. Really enjoying this one. The ML and FL are so smart and their actions are logical. Even though no romance yet, they are so cute together.

I'm not sure what you mean. It goes both ways. It's to protect people who live together (as husband/wife) but not married so that when they separate you can divide assets. Just think if you live with this person for 10 years and he/she cheated and takes everything and can just leave you high and dry. Because you're not officially married, you can't sue for assets. That would be wrong. So there are advantages.

Yes, in Canada if you lived together for more than a year, you are considered common law marriage. I think that's why some prefer not to get the official paper especially if you don't want kids, since you don't have to go through the hassle of a divorce if you break up.

I think it's a bit different in China especially if kids are involved. There is that household certificate. You're not considered a family if you don't have a marriage certificate and kids are illegitimate (I could be wrong but they always mention the household certificate whenever they need to do something official). In my country there is common-in-law which has the same rights as marriage.

On episode 12 I'm impressed the father actually scolded his son and said something logical. Maybe he's not that bad and just the influence of the concubine.

I think it's only ML and SML. There are many changes from the novel. Might not even be transmigration so don't let it discourage you from watching.
