I am really liking the dynamics of this drama so far. All the leads are doing a good job. I think this is CSW's best performance I have seen him in, he has much more depth to his character compared to the previous rolesI have seen him in. The FL is great and JSH is also superb.
I made it through 2 episodes and that is enough. The ML is painfully boring, he hardly talks, doesn’t seem to have any sense of humor. The only thing he said that was remotely interesting so far was a nonsense quote of a poem the meaning of which would indicate the more damaged a person is the sweeter they are. This goes against what we know about human psychology and the importance for love and human interaction early in life. The absence of which causes severe harm and difficulty connecting with people. Unless he was referring to directly causing harm to a person as if you are crushing a flower, which only sadists would agree with that approach. Too bad! I like the FL and the ML as an actor just not how his character is written.
I watched this drama when I came out and it was excellent until the non-ending. It pisses me off how Netflix is messing with what makes Korean dramas so good. I love how they give you a finished product. If they do come out with a season 2 in 2023-24 it most likely will require rewatching to get up to speed and they probably will leave it unfinished again. I like having Kdramas on Netflix but I wish they didn't mess with their formula.
.It just does not sit right with me watching a male scriptwriter write a story where most women are "wh0res" and…
I think you maybe over thinking it that it is only females portrayed in negative light. It is a marriage agency specializing with getting women married to rich men and rich men expanding their social status by marrying beautiful women from desirable backgrounds, hence almost all involved are portrayed as slimy. A man who cheats on his wife and mother of his daughter because a beautiful woman seduces him is more at fault than the seductress, even if he is remorseful after it falls through. The ML's wife may have been cheating on him but he was not treating her like a loved spouse, so he was not guilt free. He was also interfering with the relationship of his son and ex wife which I find particularly despicable, even if she cheated on him. The vast majority of the characters were less than perfect morals, regardless of gender, with the exception of the FL and SML. I don't think people will make the jump that women are always lying about rape because rape is so common and although people do falsely accuse others it is still extremely rare, that is why when someone does falsely accuse we believe the accuser until proven otherwise, which makes for a good story line.
I actually loved this cuz I shipped the fl with the ceo from the beginning and hated that evil bitch lawyer Jin…
The ML was marrying the FL with the approval of both families. They purposely started the new direction of the second season, with REX's CEO and her first young client, if it meets netflix's metrics, I think it could make some interesting marriage scenarios and it will create a lot of options for what direction the writers will take and which characters will be in the second season. ps. I think they even left it open for the evil lawyer to be in the second season, even though I don't see how they could since she seemed to be in difficult situation to get out of.
This was a decent revenge drama. I was a little concerned with the 8 episode netflix drama because they tend to do that when they want a second season, if viewership meets goals, if not it may not feel unfinished and there may not be a second season. The ending is good as a stand alone while hinting at a second season. I don't consider it one of the better revenge dramas out there but the brevity of it makes it an easy quick watch with enough substance for enjoyment. The last scene did leave me wanting to see how a second season would develop, so hopefully there is one. I hope Chou Yoo Son is the main lead this time around , she was very intriguing and an interesting back story could be developed.
Great news, he is an incredible actor, his performances tend to blow me away. She is also excellent and I have liked her in all the dramas I have seen her in.
I am looking forward to this drama since I liked the Jane the virgin initially but it dragged on too long and I stopped watching it. This being shorter should be a big improvement. I am going to wait until more episodes are out before watching it.
I liked this drama but like Salty_Bae pointed out the MLs were like" wet socks" but in addition the writer didn't really show any reason why the MLs would fall in love with the FL. They should have written in some deep conversations and fun or something that would show mental connection . Ultimately I think is that the driving force of love, Not just physical attraction. It is a very common shortcoming of most rom-coms. The 15 min episode length is nice it , makes easy to work into your schedule.
I find rewatching is fun for certain dramas, there are excellent dramas I will probably never rewatch because they are too emotionally taxing, Chuno is the first that comes to mind. Your list of dramas I mostly agree with rewatching with the exception of one and two I haven't watched yet. Thanks for spending the time for an interesting article.
I Was another one who wasn't wild about the ending, I was most interested in Yi Jin, I found his back story the most interesting and was curious about his future life and they left that out. I would have liked to see if he was happily married, had a family and generally what his life was like. We got a pretty good feel for what Hee Do life was like, not a paricuarly close relationship with her husband or divorced but was successful otherwise. I wasn't as bothered by the breakup even though I found it very unlikely that two people deeply in love wouldn't try to make it work or put to it on hold when their careers allowed it. I loved the early episodes but lost interest around the 11th episode and scanned the later episodes. I felt it was a good drama but not great, unfortunately it had the potential to be great but didn't get there for my taste.
