Ok... so here's my theory at this point (seeing as the dots seem to be connecting more of late with the list of dead guys Hyun Soo is killing).
That Chef guy (who was probably older than the girl Hyun Soo knew) ended up using a ton of his elite privilege to wiggle out of raping the girl we see in the flashback (I don't think he killed her. Perhaps she took her life?). The guys surrounding the chef guy probably knew about it or were involved (I dont want to think of a gang sexual assault, but I won't rule it out). I'm assuming Chan Ho was probably a lesser evil and was a good friend of Hyun Soo's, or felt more guilty about what happened, so that's why he was helping him out.
The suspicious guy that Eun Hyuk was on to, (the one that hit Hyun Soo with his car at the end. You see a flash of his face, but it was him), was definitely involved and knew he would be coming after him.
I don't think that girl was Hyun Soo's girlfriend... I don't think she was a sibling. Probably loved her or they were good friends.
AHHHH, I just need these dots to click together. I hope tomorrow we hear more of Hyun Soo's story. He's hella out of his mind, but there are traces of humanity in him when he thinks about that girl (especially since he's already determined to go this far).
I don't know how they're going to tie in Ji Wook and Bong Hee's fathers connection, but I hope the writer is able to intertwine it well, and not add it unnecessarily into the drama.
I also think that Hyun Soo's 'amnesia' (if that was ever the plan) will come into play... but I don't know.
But looking forward to tomorrow's episodes...
I really think... Chief Bang will be alive. I'm about 99% sure. The other 1% is if the writer-nim actually has more plot developments to extend on from here as a result of his 'death.' I just think... in terms of the romantic comedy aspects of this, that his death would be... a blow to the romantic comedy aspect to this series. I can't see Bong Hee and Ji Wook being flirty and cutesy if someone close to them dies. Either there has to be a time skip, the guy gets caught, or they get their 'happy ending.' It just feels like the writer is trolling us a bit... I think at the end he could have easily passed out from being choked. It can obviously happen. I just hope that the state of panic Ji Wook is in makes him either call an ambulence immediately, or Chief Bang opens his eyes a bit to at least show he's just out of it. I'm not totally convinced he's dead yet. I mean, it's awful seeing what happened, and I'll be shocked if the writer actually goes through with it (we're only getting episodes 13-14 [25-28] next week). What are ya'lls theories???
He ends up with Win. I watched up to the episode where Gus reunites with Win after a few things, and I looked at the last episode without subs, so Win... Wins Gus's love lol
OMFGGGG her confession towards the end of episode 15/his gaze/his acceptance of who she is/respecting her OMFG this is the best it's so cuteeeee and it's so worth the wait. I've been sailing by with this drama. I don't want this to enddddd :(
PS: Tianzhi... I felt like he had a lose backbone/the ingrdients to make a betrayer,, but that preview... I swear if he comes after Ting En without a plan to actually help him... I swear I won't forgive him. I know it's hard on him, being caught between his mother and fiancee, but seriously... don'ttttt do this.
Finally!! A second female lead that doesn't make me wanna pull out my hair. Ruxi is such a good person (she doesn't come off as a rich/princess trope, and it's wonderful to see her so eloquent in this series -so far at least lol). I like how grounded she is, and the fact that she doesn't treat Fen Qing like the plague. It's nice to see women building each other up (even (given the circumstances) instead of tearing them down. A very nice shift.
I tried really hard to like this show, but in the end, I couldn't do it. I'm just not feeling the female…
In one of the epilogue's (when they're in their way to see a house -can't recall which one, shortly after he confessed though), we get to see inside his thoughts before he says "you've worked hard." Meaning, HE KNOWS just how long she's been in love with him, and how much he crushed her when he rejected her, but then eventually turns around. She has every right to feel the way she does. He shouldn't expect her to jump on his ship because he's the one she loves (and the best part about that is -he doesn't expect her to either). Obviously, this drama plans to get those two together, it's just a matter of time. I'm not sure why you'd expect someone to immediately jump on board someone else's ship when they 'finally' realize they like you. That would be a blow to me. And honestly, Ji Wook handled that perfectly. He openly admitted his 'faults,' and what he was thinking -I loved his honestly. And he did one thing I think was totally commendable -he said he would wait for her. He told her to slowly come to his side. And if you've seen their recent interactions, she's not playing hard to get. She's grappling with the consequences of liking him (positive/negative), which is only natural. But you can see she's leaning towards returning his feelings. On a side, I haven't seen this program lag behind in the emotional department. She confessed to him in episode 6 (ep 12), we see them kiss in episode 8 (ep16), and he's already figured out he likes her and tells her he'll wait for her, episode 9 (ep 17)... like, it's moving on pretty well considering.
And it's been super hilarious to see how certain 'conventional' scenes are kind of flipped on the head. I like the fact that when they woke up after their drunken night together that they immediately starting putting their heads together about what happened, and even though they were *embarrassed* it was pretty great to see they weren't jumping down each other's throat in a toxic way. Kudos to the writer for making them both likable for different reasons. I honestly don't have anything I dislike about their characters so far. I hope this series ends well!!
What I like about this so far... is the fact that Fen Qing has a ton of ambition, and that she doesn't feel inferior to Ting En, even at times when she's faced with embedded elitism in 'fine cuisine'. It's such a blessing (and refreshing) to see a female lead like this. I'm also super happy about how respectful Ting En has been. He's actually been a great mentor, and I think the fact that they're both learning from one another is also a really nice touch.
I'm shipping Seed with Tee soooooo much. Seed is just so adorable. And Fuse literally needs to get his shit…
Totally agree! I think he needs some time to reflect. I think it's because he's been swept up in these few months with so many emotions he hasn't had time just to ask himself some serious and tough questions. I like your point about him hurting himself. As much as I'm frustrated by him, the pain in Fuse's eyes, especially when he told Tee he couldn't leave Jean was just... so sad. I have a feeling they'll work things out because *spoiler* they both could have kissed another person and they didn't (though I didn't watch episode 5 yet, so many there's been something going on with Seed and Tee now?) I think that was a pivitol moment (and the fact that Jean gets zero screen time), that they will end up together. I just hope Fuse has some more decent character development.
I'm shipping Seed with Tee soooooo much. Seed is just so adorable. And Fuse literally needs to get his shit together. Being with Jean while your confused is just plain wrong (I mean... take some time off if you need it). I called this out in season 1 for his jumping to conclusions, but to be selfish and pressure Tee into being friends with you because YOU don't want him out of your life... like... you can't always have your cake and eat it too. If that doesn't prove who you *belong* with, then there's no hope for this boi.
A few things... I miss Bong Hee's narration. I know we get Ji Wook's perspective a little, but that…
Right???? I feel like it should have been left out. Or maybe we can anticipate the reasons why, and they'll surprise us all. I still think Bong Hee met Ji Wook as a kid. I still can't get the day he picked up her photo and recognized her as a little girl... can't wait for some more plot twists! :)
A few things...
I miss Bong Hee's narration. I know we get Ji Wook's perspective a little, but that added a nice touch to the drama. I hope we 'hear' from her again.
And I'm sure it's safe to say our killer Hyun Soo is kind of like a self-proclaimed vigilante out for justice? He kills people (with the exception of killing people that might see him -that aspect, of course, is psychopathic), because they're done 'wrong,' and he's seeking justice for the 'victims.' I'm really curious about his back story. I think they can still play in the amnesia bit if something in the past made him forget about something and he kills because he's trying to find the truth. Or not. I have yet to question the 'amnesiac' part yet until that's feathered out a bit.
But overall, this drama is killlllling me lol I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
This is random, but wasn't this series originally slated for 16 episodes? (not that I'm complaining!), can anyone confirm where and when they decided to do a 4 episode increase?) Well, technically 8 because of the new format.
The whole...'I would only be gay for you, bro' sentiment was reallllly biphobic, or invisibilizing of…
It's a really wonderful series. There's tons of complexity in the characters, and it deals with real issues. I'll be starting season 2 soon. I agree! And MIR impressed me in season 1, but season 2 seems to be hyping up on the romance/intimate feels. I've seen a few passionate kissing scenes, so I know what you mean. And I think it's important to call out that double standard. It's just super problematic. We should see many different relationships and levels of intimacy. Check out HIStory: Obsession -there's like... a solid 15 minutes of making out scenes between two guys. Although it's a little problematic (one of them is forceful, but it's apart of the story... I think you'd know what I mean if you see it), I've never seen two guy actors realllly get into it. Same with Gay Ok Bangkok. Lots of kissing there. Season 2 has lots there as well. Maybe try the Takumi-kun series as well? After the second film (there's kissing/sexy scenes there lol but Ham/Dai are better in later films. There 3 more of them... or 4 I believe.). And at least story wise, Diary of Tootsie is pretty good. And SOTUS the series is great too. There's a pretty decent kiss or two there.
Yoo Jung... is actually really problematically shameless. I thought I would like her attitude (being shameless,…
TBH, I think that if she was to do her own research and ask Ji Wook herself, that would show her intentions as a worried ex and childhood friend. From the preview it just seems like she's doing so because she doesn't want him to be with another woman other than her (unless she wants to re-open the case because she found new evidence that would lead to Bong Hee's conviction? Like...). Ji Wook (who DROPPED the charges himself), is the one she should be talking to. If he was soooo afraid of a labelled 'murdered' after 2 and a half years (and if she knew about their history together in the first place without jumping to conclusions, or even getting to know Bong Hee in the first place), then I'm sure Yoo Jung would see that's there something more up. That's why I'm judging her. The fact that she's already jumped on the 'Bong Hee killed her (ex-boyfriend train) without even seriously looking into it -and labeling her, just like that psycho DA, then, well... she's literally being like most of the people on the show that treat her like a pariah. I really hope there IS more depth to her story. I've watched too many dramas with second lead women who are absolutely awful. I hope she gets more layers, but right now, I'm really apprehensive about that.
Yoo Jung... is actually really problematically shameless. I thought I would like her attitude (being shameless, but not forcing Ji Wook into a relationship again immediately -I expected her to be thoughtful, just in terms of asking him out again -but not in a way that selfishly assumed that he couldn't possibly date anyone other than her... like bish, please.), After watching episodes 9-10 (and seeing the preview), I reallllly don't like the way she feels like Ji Wook's life is supposed to revolve around her... I mean, even if you were childhood friends, is she really in a position to interrogate Bong Hee or any woman arround him, especially fter what happened. I can understand why Ji Wook still considers them important people even though he won't forgive them, but to show up in his life again, without maybe the intention of moving on herself, and let him find someone who won't take him for granted (because I'm damnnnned curious as to why she cheated on him), is wrong. Is the world short of men? Even if he's someone you can't forget, you did what you did, and shame on you girl for keeping a hold on him like that. Especially given the fact that you don't just leave for so long and return expecting him to want to get back together with you. AND she loses points with me when she automatically turned on Bong Hee after Ji Hae showed her what happened during her trial. Like... not only was she not proven guilty (and she didn't even look at the circumstances), makes me think she jumped to that conclusion for her own selfish reasons. Ugh... just doesn't sit well with me. I'M LIKE OVER THE MOON with out Jo Wook and Bong Hee scenes, and I think the story's pace is so to the point. No wavering, and decisive action. Plus, the fact that Bong Hee is still living with him is just adorable. And the fact that Ji Wook may be oblivious too it, but I think he can't/won't be able to live without her (as it seemed to be obvious). AHHHH THIS DRAMA KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!!! And the suspense and the comedy is so good!!!
The whole...'I would only be gay for you, bro' sentiment was reallllly biphobic, or invisibilizing of…
So spot on! I read Yaoi manga/watch some anime (when it's bearable and not full of problematic 'rape' scenes), and I agree with you. The shows/manga/etc you can find that have BL, if they don't use stereotypical tropes (Gay Ok Bangkok is REALLY fantastic and super realistic), then I do think it succumbs to who the audience its trying to attract. Yaoi BL was created for women -there are fudanshi's, but it's consumed mainly by young girls to young women adults. It's the market, definitely not misogynistic. That's also important to consider as well. You can see that in Phun's sister as well, she's into 'BL,' lol. I mean, look at the LITTLE Girls Love (GL) we have. It's because female sexuality (depending on the context/culture), is sparring because it's censored more, it's not marketed to 'girls' because there are women desiring women, and I've read certain people 'don't want that' being seen. Such double standard BS. You can totally argue that seeing a 'straight guy play a gay/bi character' still makes it appealing because he's still 'straight,' but he looks 'cute' when he ship him with another guy. Sometimes I think these representations (although seeing more queer romance is not a bad thing), can be dangerous when they do fall into tropes.
The thing is... Criminal Minds has over a decade of seasons/stories/plot lines which interconnect or grow from previous seasons. I stopped watching around season 8 for various personal reasons, but it has a complexity to the show. I REALLY hope this isn't episodic (I don't think it will?), because I don't think it could feel like the original (and not that KDramas don't have their own personal touch, so I'm looking forward to see how they do this one/who writes it). I just hope there is a solid plot line behind the scene, which will bring the series to a big climax (I know it's cliche, but maybe a serial killer or a series of cases connected). I feel like if there were multiple seasons, that would be different. But this is tVN, not OCN. Can't wait to see what they have in store, seeing as the only CI profiler Kdrama I've seen is in Queen of Mystery, so I think this would be an interesting avenue to explore in an investigation series.
