I put it as spoiler bc it is too long LOL Koreans are conservative compared to say westerners who watch porn and…
Like you I'm going to put "spoiler" for my long comment ahead lol I was talking about the audience of this particular show and not Korean people in general, most of which I observe to be 30s and older from how they address the actors in the comments, and also have traditional perspectives. And no, the critic comments were only referring to how FL overly cares for other people especially the MIL, not how she behaves with ML. Instead they seem to be satisfied with the chemistry so far, unlike us, since I saw all the positive comments. I think this is the level of intimacy and chemistry they expect from the main lead couple with this age and background stories. You can do the research yourself if you're having doubts. And guess what, I recently saw a Korean comment on youtube that said "I think married actors refrain themselves from doing intimate skinships to maintain peace in their respective (real life) families, and directors agree with it. That's why only Heung Soo and Ok Bun (both actors are single) have kiss and bed scenes." And I was like "Excuse me?" Of course that one comment doesn't represent all k-audience, I just wanted to highlight that there is this kind of conservative thoughts from k viewers for this particular family drama type.
We are on the exact same page. For God's sake, who was the Einstein who thought about pairing the Main Leads if…
Well we have to remember that they are ACTING, so in whatever way they’re behaving with each other is instructed and scripted to act, and also I don’t think either ML or FL is someone who cannot act, so I’m blaming on the writing and directing which is obviously bad if we also look at the whole drama and storylines.
It is very interesting to get the thoughts (in general) of the SK viewers and how they contrasts with the international…
I also don’t have detailed insight but I think you’re right, usually the main audience of family weekenders are local traditional viewers who by age or culture tend to have conservative views.
A lot of you are talking about FL’s character and acting, so I’m also going to drop my thoughts. My take is that her character mostly being awkward and hesitant with ML is partially done this way on purpose not to get much hate from Korean viewers, most of whom are quite conservative to be able to accept the idea of a middle-aged woman flirting/ happily dating another man few months after her husband’s death. I noted that 90% of Korean commenters were on GS’s side when DS was pushing her with the D-day, blaming him for forcing a woman who is still grieving into dating. I also notice that while the k-viewers have been recently pointing out on GS for being too “angelic” and unrealistic in real life, I haven’t seen them commenting about GS’s lukewarm behaviors to DS like we international viewers do. So I suppose part of her character personality in loveline was made with consideration on the level of acceptance from their local viewers as well. I personally don’t think it’s the actress’s acting because I remember she had no problem acting affectionate with her late husband before his death. So I think the shortfall may be caused by one or both of the following: 1) The actor and the actress don’t get along, and it’s influencing the acting of the actress, which I highly doubt since she is also a veteran professional actor 2) Bad writing and directing, which I lean more into, considering how the overall drama is looking as well. Heck they can’t even manage the pace of their own work Whatever it is, it makes me sad as the main couple had so much potential in earlier episodes which then turned lukewarm and greasy, and I was rooting for them so much (I still am actually, but with some disappointment) 😢 On the other hand, I completely second that GS’s “caring” behavior to everyone around her is so over the top that I think the title of the drama should be “What’s wrong with Ma Gwang Sook? Is she a saint?” lol
even the park was lukewarm.... like he is her highschool teacher...
I do agree but since I don’t wanna get so disappointed and drop the series, I gotta love her determination at least lol At least she’s not making me more frustrated by acting nonsense out of the blue like saying let’s break up or sth like that which is quite common in family kdramas
"I still notice her hesistant looks and bittersweet smiles whenever she's with him, but at least there is some…
Looks like they will have one in next week episode 🥳 well, if the preview isn’t misleading 🤣 And guess what, my earlier theory of MIL’s first love being absolutely no one was right, even though he is unfortunately no longer alive 😢

Don’t you agree? She was the opposite when she was with her late husband. I’m really worried for her character as we’re nearing the finale. Like are we to believe that she actually really loves Chairman with the way she’s behaving or what 🥲

I also wonder about the kiss. Kwangsook even had a kiss with Jang Soo in those first two episodes. Not sure why her character is continuously looking like she’s in an arranged marriage with Chairman 😅
Been quite busy lately that I can only think properly and write my views for last week episodes now haha If you notice my previous comments in this thread, I've been complaining about FL's lukewarm behaviors toward ML but I was actually kinda glad with last week episodes. The way she told MIL that she didn't need her approval to get married showed that she was continuously unwavering and wasn't having any second thoughts about the marriage. As for her being too nice and putting so much effort in MIL, yes I agree this is kind of her character in this show but I think it also highlighted the fact that she was willing to go extra mile for the person who wasn't going to bless the marriage which may cause problems in the long term. (She could've simply told Chairman that they probably had to take a break/ break up/ re-consider the marriage. But she still chose to fight for it.) Since her character is someone who wants absolute unity and peace, she made sure everyone gives their blessings before securing the marriage so that it works in the long run. I see her efforts as being serious with the relationship more than before. Especially the scene in the park with MIL convinced me that she is now ready to get married to Chairman. I still notice her hesistant looks and bittersweet smiles whenever she's with him, but at least there is some improvement lol
Hi! Have you already watched episode 46? MIL wants Kwangsook to find her (MIL) 1st love - that young man in the…
Ahahaha sorry for misunderstanding you! Don’t worry, although your theory is gone, mine of the man being absolutely no one important still stands lol I’m thinking what if the man turns out to be Mr. Go then there will be an interesting love triangle with Jusil. Lol just kidding 😂

My theory is quite simple lol Is that the man holds little importance than we speculate and will be another “GS being an angel to MIL” plot. And then she’ll return to US together with him (please I’ve had enough of her 🤣)
