I know the age gap irl is big but is it the same in the drama or it not known?
Their ages are not exactly stated in the drama, but it seems to be similar to their real age so the age gap in the drama and real life is about the same.

Title Key to the Phoenix Heart Spoiler
Given Li Mao's current personality, I don't see him becoming the emperor. He isn't fit for the court politics at all. No doubt he'll have significant character development, just hoping they don't mess up his writing. I'm honestly tired of obsessive and evil second male leads.

what is the point of being regent, that doesn't change the power paradigm?
I'd assume the main point was to create a bridge between the royal family and Xiao Wuyi & Beifu army, or else the bloodshed would've been disastrous. Appointing him as a regent also acts as a probation period to see if he's suitable to be the crown prince.

Im confused, is the ml taking the fl as his secondary wife? who is the crown princess? why is she called crown…
The 'crown princess' is his wife, albeit only in name since he met her for the first time in ep 2. I'm not too sure about the ranking between her and FL as I'm only on ep 2 but the FL seems to be the principal consort while the crown princess is the wife so the FL would be ranked beneath her.

'Crown Princess' is a misleading translation. Xiao Wuyi is the Heir Apparent of Prince Jing'an and she is called Heir's wife/consort and not literally crown princess.

Just finished the first ep and I'm already loving this! Pacing seems good, it's neither too slow or too short-drama-like fast and the characters look interesting too. I just hope they won't tone down Xiao Wuyi too much.

Huayong probably has the most weaponized coughs ever like man can aggressively cough his way out of anything 🤣🤣

Yes, it seems like it's only available on the website as I couldn't find it on the app either.

Do we know how old the main leads are exactly from the novel? I'm assuming Shen Xihe is around 18-20 and Xiao Huayong about 21 as he didn't have his coming-of-age ceremony yet?

Damn this cast looked sooo good so I was looking forward to it 😭 but these reviews and comments are discouraginggg
You can watch it if you like the cast honestly. It's not that good but it was still pretty enjoyable for me. So, you can try watching it if you have nothing more interesting to watch right now or in between watching another heavier drama as it's not bad as a lighthearted comedy.

Maybe check out the reviews a little more to know what to expect.

They are really trying to portray her as super smart and maybe she is but all the talk about incense this and incense that is not doing it for me. It might work a few times, but it gets monotonous after a while

Maybe it's the styling added with the fact that two years is quite a long time for a teen, but Lin Ziye seems to have grown so much since FoF 😭 Loving his dynamic with He Yu.

I don't know about the validation.Out of all his jealousy acts last ep was (also the fire scene in house) most…
I fully agree on the fire scene; I was really disappointed with that too. It's one of my least favourite scenes in the entire drama.

Qi Zheng was immature, possessive and insecure. On most occasions, his jealousy over ZS was unnecessary and too much to the point it was annoying (maybe it was meant to be funny idk) but his insecurity was not entirely uncalled for given he spent the majority of the drama confessing his love which Fan Yun brushed aside or constantly chose something else over him.

Before the last crash out though, he fought his way through assassins to find the woman he loved in a wedding attire crying over another man. He still 'tried' to be understanding like always but yeah he was scared. I think it's not that he didn't believe that Fan Yun loved him but that he was scared she wouldn't choose him once again. Personally, I don't think that particular scene was about his jealousy over ZS but about Fan Yun, he was asking her to process and think about her feelings about everything, like he said himself.
