Thank You! And seriously Do Hyok wasn't as nice and innocent as some people want to believe. He told the group…
Exactly, and she told him more than once that what he felt for her was more likely for the Nabi he used to know and not the woman she became.
I also noticed that he had a strong dislike for PJE when it wasn't justified because he didn't know him and the group didn't badmouth PJE in front of him either so how could he tell Nabi that PJE was wrong for her. The icing on the cake was when he explained her own feelings to her. She told him she liked art now thanks to an assistant and he guessed right away she was talking about PJE so DO told her that it's more likely that it's how she already felt but she didn't realize it lol.
DO was really pushy.
PJE is endgame atm because he makes Nabi feel. She produced her best art thanks to him and the feelings he made her have. At the beginning her teacher thought of Nabi as a disappointment that didn't deserve to go abroad but at the end of the drama she told her that she should try for Paris.
People might hate it but PJE made Nabi grow just as she made him grow.
It was obvious to me that he was insecure as his own mother chose her career over him hence why he was pushing her away while wanting to keep her around. Some might argue that Nabi's mother did the same thing except instead of work it was men she chose over her daughter but Nabi had a loving aunt which helped her keep a balance.
PJE and Nabi are perfect for each other as they counterbalance each other and can handle eache other. I don't think DO would have made the cut because they weren't even in a relationship and she didn't want him to know all of her as to not tarnish the image he had of her.
Though it might have been different and she may have chosen DO had they been older as then Nabi might have looked for stability, contentment and comfort instead of taking the risk of having a relationship with someone as intense as PJE.
many people may not like the ending but i love the ending beacuse Not all "good" guys can be "good" in a relationship…
Thank You! And seriously Do Hyok wasn't as nice and innocent as some people want to believe. He told the group on purpose that Nabi was his first love so that Jae Eon would back off. There was nothing innocent or nice about it
I hate when second leads who missed the train to declare themselves to the heroine run interferences between the leads.
And you're right about not knowing what the future will hold for them. Sometimes the "nice perfect guy" ideal son-in-law type is narrow-minded and wants the heroine to be molded as he wished while the "bad imperfect guy" will just take her as she is with her flaws.
Here Do Hyok loves the kid Nabi. Not the girl who went through so much (I'm at episode 7 so I don't know if he saw it but If he does see the sculpture of hers done by her ex ; he might be disgusted) while Jae Won with his less conventional way of life might have a reaction that will surprise us as he doesn't seem like the judgemenful type who cares about social conventions.
I wish we'd get more drama like that and we'd go back to character growth and progress, really appreciated that…
Exactly this! Some people always complain about cliché in drama or too perfect characters and here when they have something different they cry because OMG they weren't exclusive to begin with! [Pikachu face]
The characters were relatable imo especially since they evolve in the artistic world.
It's confirmed ? Last I hear both the leads were in talks ? I'm happy if she gets to make a comeback. The role seems meaty enough so I hope it'll help her get the break she needs to get were she deserves to be.
they kept saying how bad it was, but it was recognized by new york times, most nominated on baeksang, and it was…
Exactly this! These people would have sung a different tune had it been their fave in the drama. IOTNBO was great as a drama, it's not supposed to be a documentary on mental issues. Thus it delivers as a drama with great actors who have good chemistry (the three leads) and a good story and secondary charaters.

I'll stand by my own analysis. Watching this video won't make me change my mind about the drama. Gu Jian, A'Du and the princess ruined it for me. I feel it could have been much better (the trailer was promising but alas the majority of it takes place in the last few episodes.
LCY is not a hateful character but he and XF won't end up together was an undeniable fact due to what happened…
It's too long so I didn't read it all yet but I stand by what I said. She was a princess who didn't lived up to her duty by first running away from an alliance (when her own father had such a marriage with LCY's aunt) and then despite the grandmother explaining to her it was her duty to marry to withold peace between the two states, she kept acting up.
Gu Jian didn't pay for what he did. Being condemned to die isn't a punishment in itself when he kept on being a busybody and messing around. He wasn't on the road of redemption. Instead, he'd have happily lived a lie with the princess until his death had she not recovered her memory.
He kept lying to her until he was discovered.
Also regarding her age, seeing the era, the princess should have been more than ready to be married. She was already 16 in their books and even then she got a reprieve because there was the battle between princes. In other dramas the heroines aren't older than this one and yet they showcase more maturity and smart.
Gu Jian was seriously annoying. He was wishy washy and always made the wrong choice at the wrong time. One of…
I like greg characters but the true of the matter is only Gu Jian and the Princess were anything but grey imo. The princess was annoying and childish and Gu Jian was an hypocrite who never got his medicine.
They could have donne with some miracles In the dramas
1. The FL was annoying2. Her father was annoying 3. Her best friend was annoying doormat ans a lot could have been avoided had she been less d*ckmatized 4. Giving TY's heart to the family of one of the guys who killed is disgusting and unethical imo 5. The twin track was unecessary imo
Gu Jian was seriously annoying. He was wishy washy and always made the wrong choice at the wrong time. One of…
Exactly this! LCY is the reason I rated this drama so high. The princess was too immature and didn't bring anything to the story which is a pity. She should either have regained her memories ealier or at least been as astute as the female leads In Court Lady or The Sword and The Brocade.
These girls also helped the hero while in here the princess was always protected by the Prince because she refused to do her role.
And looking back, it's a pity that she didn't blame herself enough imo. Had done her duty from the get go and not choose to escape, they would have had a harder time getting to Danchi and they wouldn't have tortured her parents to death.
Finally, those in the known should have let the LCY and the princess know ealier. It would have been much more intense and at least LCY wouldn't have gone hawyre like this lol.
Gu Jian was seriously annoying. He was wishy washy and always made the wrong choice at the wrong time. One of…
For me Gu Jian was the actual vilain because he was the one who betrayed the princess more deeply by introducing her to LCY and ultimately causing the demise of her family and her grandfather's tribe Danchi.
It might be because I like intense characters but I didn't perceive LCY as being a vilain. Yes, he did some questionable things to get the throne but it was justified : - his betraying the princess at first was just a way to get what he wanted. He didn't know her and fell for her along the way
- his destroying Danchi was a strategy to get closer to the throne. He did second guess himeself at some point but seeing them mistreating people from his ethnicity strengthened his belief that he was right to annihilate them as they barely acted as human beings.
- his scheming against his mother the empress was to avenge his birth mother. He hurt too and questionned himself but she kept scheming and so he went through with his revenge.
- his being cruel to the princess at the end was her own fault and Gu Jian's they kept taunting him by hinting to the fact that she Gu Jian was her past lover. He did his utmost to protect her going as far as sacrificing Sese who though he wasn't in love with, liked her well enough to plan on making her his wife.
I don't understand why people are hating on Li Cheng Yin when Gu Jian is the most despicable of the two. Also the princess is so immature and selfish it's annoying. It's a pity they didn't make her more mature and astute.About A'Du... the lesser words said, the better. She could have prevented a lot of things to happen by doing her guardian role.
She was emotionally abusive and manipulative towards her boyfriends and she didn't even deny it, nevermind all…
