It’s LEGALLY in cinemas and to stream or download in the UK and Ireland:https://www.altitude.film/hunt-1
It’s been sold to “over 200 territories” according to https://www.screendaily.com/news/cannes-thriller-hunt-from-squid-game-star-lee-jung-jae-sold-to-over-200-territories-exclusive/5172833.article which mentions the distributors for several of them, including some in Southeast Asia as well as UK/Ireland, which would have been more useful for people in general worldwide reading this for me to link to. But back then I was immediately concerned with making sure anyone in the UK or Ireland who happened to read these comments knew about the release there, so they could encourage more Korean cinema to be distributed in the region (as Korean media is so popular online but so rarely in cinemas other than idol concerts and documentaries here).
It is out in cinemas and online legally in the UK and Ireland – https://www.altitude.film/hunt-1 has links to…
I can’t tell where someone is or isn’t if they don’t mention it on their profile or in their comment; even if I did know that, it doesn’t mean that no one else in the UK or Ireland (or anywhere else the site is accessible from) could read the comments here and be able to make use of them. Though, in retrospect, it might have been seen more by people in general if I just posted a new comment at the top.
This movie has been sold to “over 200 territories” (as of July last year; it may have sold to more since) according to https://www.screendaily.com/news/cannes-thriller-hunt-from-squid-game-star-lee-jung-jae-sold-to-over-200-territories-exclusive/5172833.article so, wherever someone is, it’s more likely that this has or is getting some kind of national release there than many other East Asian movies – even if that’s still not every country on earth, and the article doesn’t mention any in Africa (though if it’s been licensed in that many countries, it could include at least a few there).
It and GONG Seung-yeon’s performance have got a few awards (Best Actress at Torino, Korean Independent Feature and Best Acting at Jeonju, Best New Actress from the Korean Association of Film Critics) and many nominations, which are listed on https://www.filmmovement.com/aloners
So some people think it’s good. But festival juries and cinema critics don’t often consider the same things good as most of the general public, judging by the unspectacular ratings and the “nothing happens” and “I don’t understand it” kind of comments that festival successes like this tend to get, on MDL and elsewhere. But they can occasionally be united, like with “Parasite”, at least.
Just watched this. Great movie. Definitely deserves a better rating than it has currently. I assume its because…
It’s now online on MUBI in many countries according to https://whatsonmubi.com/film/aloners – I don’t know if the subtitles on it are different from what you saw it with earlier.
Nothing was happening in this movie but a lot of things were happening. Great watch
It seems you already caught it at a festival, but you might find it of interest (at least to recommend it to people who didn’t see it at the festival) that it’s released in cinemas nationally in the US and Canada this year (though there’s no date at https://www.filmmovement.com/aloners yet).
The acting was good but the subtitles is so messed. My understanding is more accurate than the subtitles
It’s now on MUBI with subtitles in many countries; I don’t know if they’re different from the subs you saw it with? https://mubi.com/films/aloners
It’s also being released in Northern American in cinemas and presumably online and on disc with English subs – potentially different ones, but there’s no way of telling for sure till it’s out. https://www.filmmovement.com/aloners
Its also being released in US theaters early next year so if nothing else then I'm sure it will be subbed online…
It looks like MUBI licensed it and released it direct to VOD with subtitles in a few languages in many other countries: https://whatsonmubi.com/film/aloners

I don’t know of it selling to any other English-speaking regions.
In the US and Canada, it will be in cinemas this summer and VOD later: https://www.filmmovement.com/return-to-dust

MUBI’s free for a month if joined at https://mubi.com/t/web/global/Od66GsFR
It will likely have better-quality video and subs than pirated versions.
Now it’s getting a cinema release with them in Northern America this year from Film Movement: https://www.filmmovement.com/aloners

It appears from https://whatsonmubi.com/film/aloners that in many other countries outside of South Korea it’s gone direct to MUBI.
